Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s):

The Northborough and Southborough Public School’s core values are the deeply ingrained principles that guide all of the learning organization’s actions; they serve as its pillars. The core values are articulated in the District’s strategic plan, Vision 2026: Educate, Inspire, and Challenge, and are Integrity, Empathy, Inclusivity, Equity, Perseverance, and Respect.

Additionally, Vision 2026 articulates five strategic objectives, one being Equity of Opportunity - Ensuring every child receives what they need in our schools - regardless of where they come from, what they look like, who their parents are, what their temperament is, or what they show up knowing or not knowing. Every child receives what he, she, or they need every day to have all the skills and tools to pursue whatever they want after leaving our schools, to live a fulfilling life. Equity is about outcomes and experiences - for every child, every day.

In the spring of 2021, the District initiated an equity audit to help the District better understand its strengths, areas for growth, and next level of work. I’m pleased to share that the equity audit report is complete. To review the report, one can view the Equity Audit Finding presentation, read the Executive Summary, or access the full report via the links below.

The District is studying the report and thinking about the next level of work to ensure all students receive what they need. As you review the information, please reach out if you have any questions.

Respectfully,
Gregory L. Martineau

April - Autism Acceptance Month
This April, the Autism Society of America is inviting its partners, supporters and the worldwide community to be the connection this Autism Acceptance Month. Autism Acceptance Month kicks off on April 1, and the Autism Society is recognizing the multitude of experiences within the Autism community to highlight the critical need for acceptance, inclusion and connections to support people with Autism across the lifespan.

Autism diagnoses are growing, both for children and adults. Last December, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that one in 44 children are diagnosed with Autism. Over 7 million people in the United States are on the Autism spectrum. Furthermore, Autism affects people from all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic standings. The increased Autism prevalence rate stresses the urgent need for equitable access to diagnostic evaluations and early interventions that have a significant impact on lifelong outcomes.

“Autism Acceptance Month is an opportunity to advocate and practice acceptance for the Autism community through inclusion, support, and connection,” said Christopher Banks, President, and CEO of the Autism Society of America. “No matter who you are, where you live, or your abilities, you should be able to have the connection to supports, services, community, and resources needed to live fully.”
