Ph.D. Candidate

Homepage

Hello! I am a doctoral candidate in Management and Organizations at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. I am also a Global Priorities Research Fellow and a Global Impacts Research Fellow.

Using a variety of research methods, such as laboratory, longitudinal, field, and cross-cultural experiments, I study questions that touch on prosociality, consumer ethics, and moral psychology. My main stream of research investigates the psychology of charitable receiving and giving, and a second stream of research explores the psychological process of moralization. Specifically, my research centers around three key questions:

  1. When does receiving help positively vs. negatively impact aid recipients’ psychological experience and, in turn, their acceptance or utilization of the help?
  2. What factors increase (longterm, effective) prosocial and charitable consumer behaviors?
  3. How do new moral stances develop and evolve?

I take an interdisciplinary approach to research, pulling from behavioral marketing, social psychology, behavioral (development) economics, organizational behavior, and moral philosophy. My work has been published in top scientific journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Psychological Science, and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, and has been featured in various media outlets, such as Harvard Business Review, Chicago Booth Review, and Psychology Today. Before coming to Kellogg, I received my B.S. in Psychology from THE Ohio State University (go Buckeyes!) and my M.A. in Social Science from the University of Chicago.
