Learn about the work of Oceanic Society in this short film presented by actor and Oceanic Society supporter, Chris Kratt of Wild Kratts. Oceanic Society is America's oldest non-profit dedicated to ocean conservation, founded in San Francisco in 1969. For more than 50 years we have been working to create a more oceanic society. Join us at: https://www.oceanicsociety.org! ######### "If you're like me, you love the ocean. But in our busy lives, we often don't think much about it. The fact is, our planet is mostly ocean and we rely on it for survival… but we're not taking great care of it. In the late 1960s, our founders recognized that human actions were impacting life underwater and decided to take action. They founded the first ocean conservation non-profit, and called it Oceanic Society. They knew that if they could connect people like you and me to the ocean, they could build a movement of ocean supporters to save life underwater. For 50 years we've been dedicated to that mission. Supporting efforts worldwide that engage communities in protecting threatened species. Leading expeditions around the globe that give people life-changing experiences in nature and support ocean research and conservation. And now we're working to bring the ocean into our daily lives with “Blue Habits” — simple, daily choices that help us take care of the ocean even when we’re not visiting it. We're building an amazing community of people dedicated to living in ways that help the oceans thrive. Join us and let's continue to create a thriving oceanic society."
