“I know we weren’t perfect but I’ve never felt this way for no one. And I just can’t imagine how you could be so okay now that I’m gone. I guess you didn’t mean what you wrote in that song about me. ‘Cause you said forever, now I drive alone past your street. Red lights, stop signs, I still see your face in the white cars, front yards. Can’t drive past the places we used to go to ’cause I still f**kin’ love you, babe. Sidewalks we crossed, I still hear your voice in the traffic, we’re laughing over all the noise. God, I’m so blue, know we’re through but I still f**kin’ love you, babe.” – lyrics

‘drivers license’ tells a heartfelt tale about an insecure young woman who struggles to get over her ex-boyfriend. She is still deeply in love with him, even though she knows he’s currently in a relationship with an older woman with blonde hair. One day, she drives past her ex’s street in the suburbs and imagines driving home to him. Her erratic behavior, mixed with the fact that she is emotionally wounded, brings her to the troubling conclusion that love never lasts forever.

‘drivers license’ contains a relationship-based narrative, ear-pleasing vocals, and tuneful melodies that will resonate well with fans of Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and renforshort. The likable tune possesses vibrant instrumentation flavored with an emotional pop aroma. Furthermore, “drivers license” serves as a fantastic introduction to what listeners can expect to hear on Olivia Rodrigo’s upcoming debut EP.

“When I came up with ‘drivers license,’ I was going through a heartbreak that was so confusing to me. So multifaceted. Putting all those feelings into a song made everything seem so much simpler and clearer—and at the end of the day, I think that’s really the whole purpose of songwriting. There’s nothing like sitting at the piano in my bedroom and writing a really sad song. It’s truly my favorite thing in the world.” – Olivia Rodrigo explained via JustJaredJr.

Olivia Rodrigo is best known for her roles in the Disney series, “Bizaardvark,” playing the lead role of Paige Olvera. Also, in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” playing the lead role of Nini Salazar-Roberts. Furthermore, she played the lead role of Grace Thomas in “An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success.” Rodrigo is currently signed to Geffen Records.
