“I’m so excited to release the music video for ‘Girlfriend.’ I’m incredibly grateful to the City of Gold Coast and Arts Queensland for supporting this project through the Regional Arts Development Fund. This is my favourite music video that I’ve released so far. And I’m quite certain it’s because I had the pleasure of working with Madeline Alice Randall on this project. Madeline is incredibly talented and I knew she would be the right person to bring my very specific vision to life. Throughout the whole process; from writing the song, to recording it, to planning the clip and executing the final product, I envisioned pink (& lots of it!). I wanted this music video to be fun and a little bit flirty, so Tamzen Holland brought the drama with the styling – talk about cowgirl boots of my dreams.” – Chloe Styler explained

‘Girlfriend’ is an ode to the struggles of modern dating as Chloe realizes the dating scene isn’t for her. The song exerts the undeniable feeling of empowerment that comes with honest reflection and self-acceptance. Furthermore, “Girlfriend” contains a relationship-based narrative, hook-filled melody, and ear-pleasing vocals that will resonate well with fans of Vera Blue, Maggie Rogers, and Kacey Musgraves. The soul-soothing tune also possesses thudding drums and guitar-laden instrumentation flavored with a contemporary Country-pop vibration.

“Dating in 2020 was already hard enough before adding in the fact that the guys I found myself talking to were either emotionally unavailable, great at ghosting, or prone to playing mind games. I quickly realized I’m more of a girlfriend, and that I didn’t want to waste my time with guys who only wanted a casual fling. The catch is though; you have to date to become a girlfriend.” – Chloe Styler explained

Chloe Styler has been wrapping audiences in her wholesome indie embrace since her debut. In that time, she has delivered multiple alluring singles that have earned her a nomination at last year’s Gold Coast Music Awards. Also, she achieved finalist status in the Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition.

‘Girlfriend’ marks the third in a trio of singles released by Styler this year behind “Loving You” and “Where We Stand.” Her previous releases have landed on the Country Hot 50 Chart (AUS), and Styler has supported Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley, and Fanny Lumsden. Also, she was confirmed to play at CMA Fest in Nashville in 2020 before being canceled due to Covid.
