Born in Eastern Ukraine, the city of Sievierodonetsk ,then moved to Kyiv and is now based in Stockholm, Sweden. As a solo artist Roman has several single releases, and after finished studies at EMS Stockholm now working on a full debut album.

Roman is also a member of the S.Nianio band, the Ukrainian folk Avant-folk project, which performed music in Stuttgart (XCiTING festival), Warsaw (Nów Festival) , and Kyiv (Am I Jazz? Festival/, Brave! Factory, Insha Osvita).

Roman Gens is part of the asylum residency initiated and maintained by Musikcentrum Öst under support from Stim and Postkodlotteriet, in close collaboration with SWAN (Swedish Artist Residencies Network) and Artists at Risk.
