HOW TO CREATE ATHLETES WHO THRIVE UNDER PRESSURE

In partnership with the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS), we are pleased to offer the 2022 Coach Education Workshop Series, aiming to provide education and development opportunities to WA coaches by focusing on: Education, Environment, and Experience. These workshops are provided free to all Athletics Australia accredited coaches (Level 1 or above). Athletics West acknowledges the support of WAIS and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries in making this series possible.

This session will be presented by Brian Miller, current board member of Athletics Australia. As a former sport psychologist, Brian was involved in preparing coaches and athletes for 10 Olympic Games beginning in Los Angeles in 1984 and 9 Commonwealth Games beginning in Brisbane 1982. He retired after the Rio Olympics of 2016. Brian previously worked at the Australian Institute of Sport, English Institute of Sport, WA Institute of Sport, and a number of other professional sporting organisations such as Ferrari Formula 1 Racing and Arsenal Football Club. Athletics has been Brian’s passion for 50 years and has worked with, and learned from, more than 120 Olympic medallists across 7 different sports.

The Coach Workshop will commence at 7pm, with the athlete workshop for Target Talent Program and Emerging Athlete Program participants being held from 6-7pm. Coaches are welcome to join the athlete workshop if they wish.

If you are unable to attend in person, but would like a recording of the session, please complete the registration form by RSVP'ing 'No' and check the box to receive the recording.
