BBQ chip seasoning will make your roasted potatoes taste like barbequed chips without frying or other ingredients you can’t pronounce.

If you enjoy barbecued chips, but loath the idea of frying and extra added chemicals, then you will love this seasoning for your potatoes. You could use this on baked fries, baked chips, roll baked potatoes in it, or just season baby potatoes for the air fryer like I do in this recipe.

I have made barbecued potato fries on the outdoor grill and they were delightful. However, they would have been even better if I had had this seasoning when I made them. Next time!

BBQ Chip Seasoning Ingredients

There are a few ingredients in this seasoning you might not have in your spice rack, but that’s okay. You won’t be using them only once; you will find yourself using them again and again. I use them for all kinds of different foods, and you will, too.

*Tomato Powder

If you haven’t tried this stuff yet, you will love it. It gives extra tomato flavor to tomato sauce and it’s amazingly good on popcorn. You can find *tomato powder on Amazon. One caveat though. If your kitchen is moist, you need to put a food-grade *desiccant dehumidifier bag in so it doesn’t clump. I recommend using those for any of your spices that clump together.

*Worcestershire Powder

This is another amazing spice you will wonder how you did without. It’s great to sprinkle on burgers before you put them on the grill as a seasoning. Since it’s a powder and not a liquid, it won’t dilute anything you put it in.

*Maldon Smoked Sea Salt

Okay, this one is a little more expensive. You can make your own smoked salt by putting liquid smoke in a food processor with salt and spinning it. But the flavor of this smoked salt is superior and the smokiness does not fade as quickly as homemade smoked salt. Trust me, buy this!

Making and Storing the BBQ Chip Seasoning

The best and easiest way to make this is to put it in the bowl of a small *food processor and process it. I advise you doing this instead of just mixing it with fork or spoon in case your brown sugar has clumps. You won’t get clumps this way.

To store it, put the seasoning in a small glass jar. I keep my pimento jars just for this reason. Since there are ingredients which can clump, I recommend adding a food-grade *desiccant dehumidifier bag in so it doesn’t clump and will keep fresh longer.
