Advancing digital security and preserving privacy as a fundamental human right.
About us
Least Authority is committed to building and supporting the development of usable technology solutions and ethical business practices to advance digital security and preserve privacy as a fundamental human right. We focus our work in three main areas: Security Consulting, Product Development, and Community-Contribution Projects. We pursue these areas knowing they are complementary and offer various ways for us to contribute to our mission: we enable more people to use secure and privacy-respecting technology. We uphold our mission by: -Conducting security audits and providing consulting services for software development projects, especially within Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) communities. -Building products with a specific focus on increasing the security of the data and systems, along with enhancing and preserving privacy. -Developing and contributing to FOSS projects. -Collaborating with human rights organizations and non-profit foundations to provide secure tools and privacy enhancing technologies for human rights defenders. -Supporting additional projects, programs, and ventures that focus on increasing awareness of the importance of digital security and privacy in technology. Our History: Least Authority was formed in the U.S. in 2011 to create freedom-compatible technologies. In 2016, the company relocated to Berlin with Liz Steininger as CEO / Managing Director. We are a small team who believe that privacy matters in Internet technology.

Security is a collaborative process. We begin each audit by working closely with clients to define the scope and gather key resources, then apply our comprehensive process to help secure their digital assets. Learn more about our approach in our blog: https://lnkd.in/eYaRM458

Great to see Zero Knowledge Podcast referencing the MoonMath Manual as a learning resource. We’re always glad to see our freely available guide supporting education and helping more people learn the foundations of zero-knowledge proofs. https://lnkd.in/eG4haq2g

Security audits are essential for strengthening cryptographic implementations like MPC wallets. We audited Safeheron’s MPC_ECDSA algorithm, helping to ensure its robustness. Read more about the importance of security in MPC wallets in their blog: https://lnkd.in/e_NcmQed

It aims to build a safe community- and self-guided learning practice. A space to: - Share your interests and discover new ones - Find study buddies with similar interests - Form co-learning and study groups - Learn by sharing what you learned and by pairing/explaining - Discover new topics, learning styles and practices Some of the current study topics include: - Applied Cryptography - Cryptographic Foundations (i.e. math, information and coding theory) - Adversarial AI/ML - Reverse Engineering There are currently members in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. Each group plans to organize their own study brunches/meetups and there will be online-organized and co-organized in-person events for sharing learnings across the groups. All groups are actively looking for members interested in co-organizing and/or attending, and there is a communal chat space to discuss new ideas as the groups evolve. The name came out of the first Feminist AI LAN Party, where a small group of attendees built adversarial and feminist attacks tested against ChatGPT. ChatGPT responded with Clit Ipsum text, and the name was born. Thanks Sammy! 🤣 *FLINTA = women, lesbian, intersectional, non-binary, trans, agender persons welcome **friends = explicitly invited allies
