IIAC DECLINES SASKATCHEWAN’S PROPOSALS FOR FINANCIAL ADVISOR AND FINANCIAL PLANNER TITLE
The IIAC has stated that Saskatchewan’s proposed regulations for the use of Financial Planner and Financial Advisor titles should not apply to individuals who are subject to oversight by either the Canadian Securities Administrators, IIROC or the MFDA.
The proposed regulations would also establish a new competency profile for Financial Advisors and Financial Planners in Saskatchewan which is different from other provinces.
For those already licensed to provide investment advice, the proposed regulations would result in unnecessary administration, cost and investor confusion without benefit.
