The School of Theatre at Florida State University unveils a 2022-23 season that features a combination of Broadway dance and comedy, thought-provoking plays and technicolor Theatre for Young Audiences performances — highlighting the talents of one of the world’s top drama programs.

The season begins Oct. 14-23 with “Sweet Charity,” a quirky romance with Bob Fosse-inspired choreography to classic songs such as “Hey, Big Spender.”

Then, the stylish, witty period piece “The Ruby Sunrise” whisks the audience from the invention of the television in the 1920s to its golden age in the 1950s.

The season includes something for everybody:

Each year, the School of Theatre presents a Theatre for Young Audiences show to help raise money for schools and offer children in Leon County a chance to see a family-friendly production. This year’s show is an adaptation of the beloved picture book “Dragons Love Tacos,” brought to life with colorful costumes and choreography.

The farcical Broadway smash “Something Rotten!” spotlights the rockstar of the Elizabethan stage — Shakespeare — and the foibles of rival playwrights who endeavor to write the world’s first musical.

“Bulrusher” anchors the season with a young woman’s lyrical search for belonging in the small California town where she was found as a child among the riverbank’s reeds.

The season closes with a dark fairytale adaptation, “The Secret in the Wings,” by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman.
