Ukraine – a test for principled humanitarian action?

Date: 18.10.2022
Time: 12:30 - 14:00
Location: Berlin Mitte

This event has passed.

The war in Ukraine poses a set of challenges and humanitarian dilemmas around access to people in need, protection of medical staff and principled humanitarian action – i.a. in a public environment and political discourse around solidarity and multi-level assistance to Ukraine.
What does MSF observe? How to navigate such debates and operational environments? What to learn from this but also many other conflict contexts?

Médecins Sans Frontières and the Centre for Humanitarian Action invite to a private luncheon with

Dr. Christos Christou, International President, Médecins Sans Frontières ׀ International Office

Christos Christou is just returning from a visit to Ukraine. He visited several medical MSF projects in Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Kyiv and the medical train, a joint project of MSF, the Ministry of Health, and the Ukrainian Railways with which MSF is evacuating patients from hospitals that are close to the conflict or overwhelmed due to the influx of wounded or loss of own medical staff. He has met a series of humanitarian and other actors and stakeholders in the country and can share first hand impressions and views from the crisis context.

Participation is by invitation only.
