About the author (1959)

A local of Lincoln, Nebraska, Loren Eiseley lectured at a number of Universities, including Harvard, Columbia, and the University of California. He was the president of the American Institute of Human Paleontology, and a contributor to many leading scientific journals as well as periodicals such as Harper's, American Scholar, and Gentry. At his death in 1977, he was a Professor of History and Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
