Each week, Advisor’s Edge reports on notable people moves across the financial industry.

  • Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management (Canada) welcomed two advisor practices to its ranks this week, with the incoming industry veterans bringing in a collective $335 million in assets. Gabriel Benhamron joins the firm’s Montreal branch. Benhamron comes from Toronto-based Echelon Wealth Partners, where he spent nearly 16 years as an investment advisor and built a $225-million book, a release from Canaccord  said. The other advisor, Mark O’Reilly, joins Canaccord Genuity’s Toronto office from Raymond James, where he worked for nearly eight years*. Over his 30-year career, O’Reilly has worked at big banks and wealth management firms, and his book was valued at $110 million, Canaccord said.
  • Echelon Wealth Partners Inc. also welcomed a new hire this week. Senior portfolio manager Gary Wu and his team of three are joining the firm’s Vancouver office. Coming from National Bank Financial and with more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Wu noted in a statement that he wanted to transition into an “innovative, independent model.”
  • Wellington-Altus Financial Inc. has named a new senior vice-president of digital advisor experience and operations: Jennifer Mullen-Berube. Located in Manitoba, she’s worked at two credit unions in the province and had a stint as the chief operating officer at Wellington West Private Client from 2010 to 2011.
  • Barry Gollom announced this week that he’s now senior vice-president, head of retail products and marketing, wealth and personal banking, at HSBC. He’s been at the bank since 2017 and worked at CIBC for nearly 10 years before that, holding various senior roles in the product and wealth areas. Between 1996 and 2006, he held various roles at TD.
  • Ortec Finance, an IT services and consulting firm headquartered in the Netherlands, has welcomed Neil Greenbaum as executive vice-president, sales and partnerships, for North America. Greenbaum comes from Toronto-based Nest Wealth, where he was head of advisor solutions. One of Greenbaum’s goals will be to help grow the OPAL Wealth platform, a tool that assists with monitoring clients’ goals and offering forward-looking projections.
  • New York-based NFP, a P&C brokerage, benefits consultant, wealth manager and retirement advisor, has created a new executive leadership team in Canada, where it “continues to grow and expand.” The release said members of the corporate team, all of whom have been with the firm for at least one year, include John Haas, president; Scott Saddington, chief operating officer; Tara Carruthers, chief financial officer; Lesley Munk, associate general counsel; and Greg Padovani, head of M&A. Additional executives were listed on the operational side.
