📢 GLOBAL DAYS OF ACTION ON TAX JUSTICE FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS DEMAND 3: INCREASE PUBLIC INVESTMENT IN CARE PUBLIC SYSTEMS ✊🏾💰 We demand governments #MakeTaxesWorkForWomen by funding public national care systems. "Without robust paid maternity leave, public childcare, and a well-funded healthcare system, women pay more – with both their time and their labour – because the rich are paying less. Women disproportionately spend more on caring for others; investing in public services like pharmacare and affordable housing is an investment in gender equity. Yes, these investments cost billions. But the money is there – it’s just going into the wrong hands. When we fix our unfair tax system, we can afford to take care of each other." - Erica Shiner, Canadians For Tax Fairness 🗞️ Read C4TF’s blog exploring demand 3 of the Progressive Tax for Care campaign (link in comments)

📢It's time to stand up and demand #TaxJustice for women. Webinar: "Tax Justice & International Tax Reforms: An Urgent Agenda for Financing Public Policies for Women" Inequality is built into tax systems worldwide and it’s time to change that. In Brazil, the current tax system benefits rich white men, penalises low-income, black and indigenous women, and perpetuates a cycle of injustice. As part of the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW/Beijing+30) and the Global Days of Action campaign, this event will bring together experts, civil society organisations, and women’s social movements to discuss how to reform unfair tax systems worldwide. Speakers: 🔸Marion Bethel (CEDAW Committee) 🔸PhD, Ana Claudia Jaquetto Pereira (UN Women Brazil ) 🔸Carolina Rodrigues Finette (Tax Justice Network) 🔸Eliane Barbosa da Conceição (Plataforma Justa) 🔸Grazielle Custódio David (Transforma/IE/Unicamp and É da sua Conta podcast) 🔸Klelia Guerrero García (Latindadd - Red Latinoamericana por Justicia Económica y Social) Moderation: Carmela Morena Zigoni Pe (Inesc - Instituto de Estudos Socioeconômicos) 🖋️Register now: https://lnkd.in/daWU6ZnM

⚡As part of the 2025 Global Days of Action on Tax Justice for Women’s Rights, Layne Hofman, our Researcher-Advocate for Human Rights and Inequalities, explores the second demand: Incorporating Gender-Transformative Provisions into the UN Tax Convention. #UNTaxConvention
📢 DEMAND 2: GENDER TRANSFORMATIVE-PROVISIONS IN THE UN TAX CONVENTION 🌐 The #UNTaxConvention must promote gender justice and equitable international tax governance. "Tax is our social superpower. Tax policy has enormous potential as a transformative instrument for the development and well-being of the population at large and women in particular, but instead the way that tax policy is currently designed and implemented contributes to the persistence of inequalities, including of gender inequality. The UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation represents a historic opportunity to fundamentally change how global tax rules are decided and offers an opportunity to establish tax policy that works for all, including for women." - Layne Hofman, Tax Justice Network 🗞️ Read TJN’s blog exploring demand 2 of the #ProgressiveTax4Care campaign: bit.ly/43AmPle
