Tennessee Thunderbolts #6

Bad Boy's Downfall

Rate this book
Word on the ice: the only thing worse than knocking up your teammate’s sister is knocking up his daughter.

I have no business tangling up with Lola Daire. She’s a smart, idealistic, college senior planning to take on Silicon Valley. I’m an angry NHL player with a chip on my shoulder.

She smiles rainbows; I spit fire. She’s a daddy’s girl; I’m the last guy her father wants her to date.

A man with my past and demons will only corrupt a good woman. I know better than to give in to her playful flirting, but when Lola finds herself in a compromising situation, I break the rules to keep her safe.

We have nothing in common, save for the attraction we feel. We have no future, except for the moments that stretch between us. But our desire is insatiable. Our chemistry, off-the-charts.

One night turns into more and our casual understanding takes an unexpected turn.

I may be the cliché bad boy, but my downfall is the good girl with a baby on the way.

Tennessee Thunderbolts book 6-
Bad boy’s downfall

River and Lola’s story is a delicate one, there’s a lot of insecurities between them but an attraction turns into a friendship and the friendship becomes more and when they are so nervous and hopeful to start a relationship, they realize they have to tell Brawler ( her Dad and River’s teammate)

So this story will give your heart strings a tug in every direction and make you smile and tear up and the connection between Lola and River has more than enough sparks to keep your attention.

This is a story that makes you cheer for the Bad Boy and Brainy girl to have their Happily Ever After!

5 anything is possible happy stars!

A Book that packs a whole lot of punch! There is so much to unpack in this story. What a reader needs to know is that this is the best in this whole series. River and Lola have been teased since book 2 and it is everything, I wanted for them and more. The emotions in this book are so raw. The author weaves a story that has rooting for this couple and wanting nothing but love and joy for them.
This series has been more miss than hit for me. I am so glad I took a chance on this last book in the series. This is the story telling I expect from the author. The characters are rooted in a realism that brings them to life for the reader.

"You mesmerize me, Lola. I think you’re as close to perfect as a person can be."

River Patton, the team's resident bad boy, is arrogant, angry and has a chip on his shoulder. Lola Daire, his teammate's 21 year old daughter, is daddy's little girl, smart, beautiful and career driven with her sights set on Silicon Valley. I'm always drawn to a bad boy and I couldn't wait for this story, having watched the sexual tension between River and Lola brew throughout the series.

Haunted by the demons of his past, River felt undeserving and unworthy of love. He thought he let everyone that mattered down, so tormented with guilt and shame that he erected walls around him, pushing people away. My heart truly broke in two for him. But Lola was the one person who could get him to open up and I loved watching her peel back his layers, exposing his vulnerabilities and pain. River and Lola were such an unlikely couple but they developed a perfectly imperfect relationship that was beautiful to watch unfold.

I never stopped hoping River and Lola would find their forever but I found several issues to be problematic. These were two of my favorite characters throughout the series but I felt as if they weren't truly themselves. River seemed less angry, losing some of the edge of his bad boy image. And Lola seemed so different from when we first met her as she welcomed the Thunderbolts to Tennessee. She lacked the confidence and self-assurance she showed all along. Furthermore, the virginal heroine is difficult to portray convincingly and it didn't really work for me here. Lola's first experience was simply too perfect and I was thrown off by how she kept thanking River throughout. I also didn't like how immaturely and foolishly Axel acted when he found out about their relationship.

An unexpected pregnancy added further complexity to their lives. Could River and Lola navigate this turn of events or was their love destined to fail?

The importance of communication and sharing in any relationship, romantic or otherwise, became an important lesson here and I enjoyed seeing how love conquers all. I loved how River was so protective and caring of Lola and how she inspired him to become a better man and to step up to earn and deserve her love. I would have liked to read more about the darkness in River's past, feeling his conflicted emotions on an even deeper level. While I held my breath through the third act break, I never stopped feeling hopeful.

All issues aside, I'm still a fan of these characters and I love the dynamics of the team as well as the relationships within. I would love to see a bonus story with Jasmine and Johnny especially since the friendship between Lola and Jasmine was one of my favorite things about this story. It's so bittersweet to see this series come to an end but I know the author has more planned ahead and I'm looking forward to reading what's to come.

"Maybe this isn’t the end of my world as much as it’s the start of a new beginning."

This book is a touch bittersweet. River finally opens up to us all, Lola finally gets the guy she deserves, Axel almost gets some hate from me, and this is also the official end of the series. But it’s the perfect end, really. After all, River and Lola have a bright future ahead, River shows just how deep his feelings run, and I have a feeling we’ll see at least a few of these folks if River’s friends and a few other folks we’ve met along the way tell their tales.

Lola and River have a big mountain to climb to find their forever, but they’re up for the challenge. And as much as they both worry and hold things in, one of them knows that communication is key and reiterates it a few times. Wonderfully so, I might add. So wonderfully that when the communicator is slapped by the surprise of the other person’s plans, they have to back away and hope for some clarity with distance while still remaining a part of the other’s life. And believe me when I say that you’ll feel the pain just as clearly as the one who’s hurt by the thoughtless actions of someone who shouldn’t be inserting themselves into the mix right about now. But you’ll also know just how much love is between River and Lola when things get a tad worrisome for a bit and they both step up to own their mistakes and admit their feelings. You also won’t want your time with them to end, but isn’t that sort of the hallmark of an excellent book or series? It sure is to me. And I can honestly say that I wished for more time with this team and this couple in particular, but I also look forward to the stories we’ll get ahead. I can’t wait!

I loved it! River Patton is my new book boyfriend!!!
This is the 6th book in the Tennessee Thunderbolts series and it's the one book that I've been waiting for since I first read about River and Lola earlier in the series. This is by far my favorite book in this entire series! I love an accidental pregnancy trope and Gina wrote it so well! I love River and Lola. They're so great together! Their chemistry is explosive and their connection is strong.
River is the "bad boy" of the Tennessee Thunderbolts hockey team. He has been slapped with the bad boy image and attitude. But, when it comes to Lola, he feels this connection, this strong feeling to be with her. Lola has always had feelings for River but felt they were one-sided until both decide to act on their feelings. That night, everything changes and they battle through several obstacles. One being Lola's dad, who is River's teammate.
River and Lola are amazing together! I've been rooting for them to get together and have their own book. I'm so happy they get their HEA. As soon as this landed on my kindle, I read it. It was so hard to put down because I was so invested into their romance. I adored both River and Lola's characters! I also enjoyed seeing previous couples make their appearances.
I definitely recommend!

Score!!

That’s exactly what this book did for me. I loved River and Lola’s story from the get go. River’s past had made him into this “bad boy” image but Lola knew more and she had been crushing on him. The problem was trying to get past the unwritten rule of not dating your teammates daughter. Brawler had warned the guys away from his beautiful daughter but River and Lola had this special connection and had been friends first.

What a great heartfelt story for River and Lola. Their love wasn’t easy but they made it through. They had me rooting for them throughout and I’m glad they finally got the HEA.

Heartwarming, romantic, passionate, intense and adorable, River and Lola are EVERYTHING! The Thunderbolts series is phenomenal and this couple is the perfect way to conclude it. These two have circled one another for quite awhile and readers will love the way they wind up finally crossing the line. There are so many complex emotions felt by both River and Lola (as well as this reader!) throughout this book. Though this couple appears to be nothing alike, once readers see beneath the surface it turns out they have quite a bit in common. I for one am sad to see this series end, but absolutely LOVE the way it was wrapped up!

This book... just prepare for an absolute emotional rollercoaster with River and Lola while being unable to look away because that is exactly what happened to me.

** This story does include mention/emotional aftereffects of a friends suicide and pregnancy trouble- if these are sensitive topics for you, proceed with care**

4.5 ⭐

Bad Boy's Downfall by Gina Azzi is the 6th and final book for the Tennessee Thunderbolts and Gina is finally giving us what has been teased for a while now- the grumpy and mysterious River Patton with the off limits good girl, Lola Daire. I've loved the Thunderbolts, I loved the Hawks too- each book has given a swoon worthy, professional hockey book boyfriend and it's hard to chose who was my favorite- though River just might wear that title now.

River Patton has always been a bit mysterious and closed off in this series- his closest friendship that we knew of was with Maisy- Axel Daire's fiance. We finally get to know his backstory and it is heartbreaking in so many ways but also so beautiful especially as he tries to become the type of man he knows that Lola deserves. Now by all appearances River and Lola are complete opposites- he's hard to her soft, jaded to her innocence but these two are actually more alike than one would think. Uncovering those similarities as they fall into their relationship just added to the perfection of their story. Their connection and feelings toward each other come fast and hard- just like them when things get a little spicy 😉

While I understood where she was coming from, I hated how Lola wanted to keep her relationship with River hidden. Her choices in being untruthful by omission or refusing to communicate causes a lot of hurt and heartbreak for quite a few people, herself and River being at the center of it. River's personality has a huge overhaul in this book- first with just giving into desire for Lola but when he learns about their baby? Goodness gracious that man turned into one of the swooniest hockey guys ever. And let's just say the stars had to align something fierce for that baby 😆

Yes, their story gets wrapped up beautifully and I wouldn't change a thing- but y'all I had a couple ugly cry moments and the anxiety I felt was very real but oh so worth it. I'm sad for it to be over and waiting to see what Gina will bring to us next!!

River knows better than to mess with his teammate's daughter, Lola, but he can't seem to resist her. Now they've found themselves in a situation he certainly hadn't expected. He'll need to be the man she sees in him now. He can either score big or skate away, it's his choice, but a choice that will affect his entire life.

This is definitely my favorite so far of this series. River and Lola have this instant connection and I wanted them to make it work even though the obstacles (her very protective father) were almost insurmountable, and River had a lot of baggage to get past. He is definitely more than his reputation indicated and I love that Lola could see that in him even though so many others didn't. The emotional and the physical layers these two and their relationship have are what kept me reading and wanting more even as I got to the last page of the sweet epilogue.

Bad Boy’s Downfall is the sixth book from Tennessee Thunderbolts series by new to me author Gina Azzi.

The story of River Patton and Lola ‘Lol’ Daire took you quite an emotionally charged ride, that had you deep in the feels, whilst bringing drama and angst that caused tensions to rise and suspense to build in following their journey.

River was somewhat of an enigma, keeping tight lipped about his rough childhood, that had him still carrying emotional baggage. And was considered the bad boy, even though beneath the surface there was much more to him than meets the eye.
This was something Gina explored thoroughly when it came to the development of River’s character. Allowing us to see the unravelling of his layers, which had him opening up to us to see just who exactly he really was. Even more so from his inner monologue, which pulled on your hearts strings from the revelations made. And when it came to see him grow and finally come into his own.

As for Lola, she may have known what she wanted with her plans for after finishing her final year of college.
However there was more to her than meets the eye too, considering what was hidden under the surface when it came to the development of her character. She too had you feeling for her from what was divulged.

When it came to the exploration of their budding relationship, it majorly had you deep within the feels, seeing how they were towards one another.
Supporting one another by always trying to be there for each other.
They were truly what each needed, considering how they helped build one another and grow from there. Seeing as they both shared the same similarities beneath the surface.
Despite the obstacle of Brawler aka Lola’s dad and River’s team mate, there was no denying they were made for each other.
However it did cause their journey to hit a few bumps from the push and pull and back and forth they had to navigate upon. Yet it never dimmed the sparks that flew between them, especially with the chemistry they shared.
Making them truly perfect for one another.

My only complaint was the issue of the narrative’s pacing in the last 3rd of the book.
It just seemed and felt a little too rushed with how quickly everything seemed to race through, given how it was one moment after another in the snap of fingers IMO.
It’s ultimately what made it feel abrupt and disjointed to me, particularly with the lack of detail missing from the scenes.
Especially with the build up that led to the climax, which felt out of the blue IMO, having been unexpected, as if it was thrown in to have the major conflict before the resolvement that would eventually lead to a HEA.

Bad Boy’s Downfall still ended up being a good read, even despite my complaint.
And with it being my first read by Gina Azzi, she managed to win me over as a reader.

Azzi concludes her Tennessee Thunderbolts Series with an explosive and addictive hockey romance in the Bad Boy’s Downfall. This emotional read is about new beginnings between two characters who might not have a lot in common on the outside, but they soon realize how similar they really are in a lot of ways bringing them closer than ever. A definite must-read!

As the youngest NHL player in the Tennessee Thunderbolts hockey team, River Patton, is just at the beginning stages of a very promising career. With that also comes the attention of woman around him, which gains him a bit of a playboy reputation with the team. Although his sole purpose is to have a successful career, River is not interested in commitment. Not after the way he grew up, there are demons in his life that still haunt him and River is afraid of not being good enough.

That soon changes the minute he meets, Lola Daire, the daughter of one of his teammates. She is quirky, always reading and in her own head. She is not trying to impress anyone and he finds it incredibly attractive, which River hates. He knows that she is off-limits, but he can’t stop thinking about Lola. Until a turn of events have him ready to protect her at all costs, including claiming her as his. This changes their dynamic and even though Lola might be moving after graduation, it’s his chance to make a move on her before it’s too late.

As a college senior, Lola Daire, has done everything she could to get to where she is in hopes of getting a great job in Silicon Valley. With graduation approaching, she wants her last months as a student to be regret free. Lola is aware that someone like River Patton, would never give her a true chance, but she only has four months of being reckless and he is the perfect guy to do it with. But she got more than she bargained for the minute their relationship starts to turn into so much more. Then life decides to throw them a curveball and it’s about to change their lives forever.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Bad Boy’s Downfall, it was sizzling with chemistry from the beginning and it just kept getting better and better. Azzi truly delivers a love story full of ups and downs as the characters got to know each other as well. They share a lot in common than they actually think and it’s because of that, that they are able to lean on each other for support. I loved all the cameos that we got from previous characters, and the ending will leave you rooting for them. It’s the perfect ending to conclude the series with and I couldn’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for a great sports romance than I would highly recommend checking this on out as well as any other books in the series. :)

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥

It is always bittersweet to bid goodbye to any of Gina Azzi's series. The Tennessee Thunderbolts in particular is a favorite of mine, and I felt like ending the series with River Patton's story was the ultimate icing on a brilliant cake of a series.

River Patton has been dubbed as the team bad boy. He isn't quite sure why. Sure, he isolates himself from his teammates and does as he pleases (within team rules, of course), but his reputation has definitely made him off-limits to the likes of Lola Daire. Too bad his heart and his certain parts did not quite get the memo his brain sent out that his teammate's daughter is a red zone.

Lola is tired of following the rules. She has a few months until she graduates college, and she's ready to let loose a little before she jumps into the hectic world of the working class. What better to enjoy life a little than tease the one man she's held a crush on for a while?

I love this read. River and Lola have amazing chemistry that has me cheering for them despite the odds against them. River has certainly matured over the series from the guy I wanted to sucker-punch during Maisy's blueberry muffins incident in Book 2 to this thoughtful romantic.

This read went so quickly for me. The pacing was great, and I love how we get previous characters involved in the story. It also has very little angst if that is what you're looking for right now. Gina Azzi did a great job of tying everything up so seamlessly that it was almost sad to see the words The End.

Even though it is the final book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Like I said, it is hard to say goodbye to this series and its wonderful characters. I am looking forward to Gina Azzi's new series.

This is a romance with so much heart and sweetness but with some well-placed drama, and I couldn’t get enough of it. River and Lola’s story starts with them both having a thing for the other but never admitting it out loud until one fateful night where more than they’ve bargained for changes. Not only do they have to deal with Lola’s dad being River’s teammate, but their first night together leaves quite the surprise in its wake. Will these two be able to make things work despite everything, or will their relationship never even get the chance to become something more?

I’ve adored Lola since we first met her in this series. She’s like the cute kid sister you always wanted, but in this book we find that she’s way more than what she seems like on the surface. She’s still cute, but she’s also smart and sassy and perfect for River. And him? My heart hurt for him so many times throughout this book, and everything he endured made me love him just that much more. I’ve adored every couple through this series, but I think I wanted these two to find their way to each other the most. Reading their story made me emotional, and I didn’t want to put it down. Like I needed to know what became of them, and in the end it all came together so well.

This book deals with some serious themes, and the way they’ve been woven into the greater love story is done in such a way that it endears you to the characters completely. Something Azzi does beautifully is that she’s able to construct these characters that are fun or sweet or whatever, but then she adds a layer to them that you might not expect. I think that’s what makes me fall in love with her books so effortlessly.

River and Lola’s book is more than I could’ve hoped for. There were moments of tenderness, drama, and spice and everything in between, and I’m beyond sad to see this series end but can’t wait to see where this author goes from here.

#badboysdownfall is book six in the #tennesseethinderboltshockeyseries by @gina_azzi

River: Closed off. Hockey player. Broken. He’s making a name for himself in the NHL with this team. He’s not the easiest guy to get along with but his teammates include him to not only show camaraderie but also they want him to feel part of their family. He’s very private about his life, and doesn’t share anything. Until Lola; His teammates daughter. He’s tried to stay away since meeting her, but they always tend to gravitate to one another. They might have different upbringings but he’s starting to see they have more in common than he thought. Can he let her in to find a happiness he deserves or will he always feel like he’s not wanted and his feelings get overlooked?

Lola: College senior. Determined. Shocked by a surprise pregnancy. She has been intrigued by River since the first seeing him. Knowing he has an attitude with everyone made her fall harder as he’s always nice to her. She wants to live her life and take a chance with fun. Thinking River can help with that she may have bit off more she can chew. He’s not what she expected, he treats her like a queen and supports her when she finds out she’s pregnant. Can she trust that he won’t run when times get tough or does she feel like her life is just another statistic?

Ugh, my heart! These two. I have been waiting for this book since I figured out who the MCs would be. River is so broken but doesn’t realize how much love he radiates without saying the words. He treated Lola like a princess and wanted to be better for her. Lola always wanted to make her parents proud, but also needed fun. She never tried to fix River, wanted him just the way he was. I think they were my favorite couple! Absolutely recommend but please check TW prior.

This one hit my heart like a ton of bricks; I was ugly crying while reading. The genuine emotions that this final book evokes: laughter, tears, hope, and love, are everything I felt as I was taken on this fantastic journey. I fell deeply in love with River. After all, who doesn't love a bad boy who falls for a good girl? Lola is wholesome, smart, beautiful, and going places. Lola should have been off-limits, but yup, he went there. When he gave in to his feelings, he fell so fast and hard for his teammate's daughter. River and Lola are so real and life-like that they could walk off the pages. They deal with everyday emotions, like heartache, joy, self-doubt, and love. They are making decisions that will affect themselves and others far into the future. Both sides feel like they have disappointed many people in their inner circles. It doesn't feel easy to overcome, though they work together to improve and do just that. To top it all off, throw in an unexpected pregnancy. River and Lola discover all they mean to one another, forcing them to face their future.

This is what real life looks like. It's not all neat and tied up with a bow. It's messy and full of surprises. The best way to face it is full-on, with the person you love at your side. River and Lola have each other, their families, and River's team rooting for them. They are not alone.

This is the last book in the Tennessee Thunderbolt series, and I have loved every second spent within this amazing series. Watching each couple meet and fall in love has been a special treat, but River and Lola have become my favourite couple by far.

I've been eagerly awaiting Lola Daire and River Patton's story ever since their paths crossed early in the Tennessee Thunderbolts series. We've been teased over the past few books, and now, Gina Azzi finally gives us what we've been waiting for. Of course, Bad Boy's Downfall comes with some bittersweet feels. This is, after all, the sixth and final book in what's turned out to be an entertaining and endearing series. But closing things out with Lola and River's book feels rather appropriate, giving everyone a happy ending.

Like the five previous books in the series, Bad Boy's Downfall can be read as a standalone. That being said, I think that the glimpses we see of the main characters, Lola and River, in the earlier stories, adds to that feeling of anticipation leading up to the release of their book. I was eager to see how Lola would, if ever, change River and his bad boy ways. Add to that the fact that Lola just happens to be the daughter (and only child) of Axel Daire, aka Brawler and River's teammate. And a surprise baby makes things more complicated.

Okay, I admit it: my expectations for this book were high. I mean, can you blame me? All those bits and pieces of Lola and River had me feeling the brewing chemistry between them. But yeah, I was a wee bit underwhelmed with how their actual story played out. Maybe I had this entirely different image of the two of them in my head, and my heart was looking forward to this wonderful romance with wit and angst. That's not to say Bad Boy's Downfall was a terrible read. It was a four-starred end to a very entertaining series.

Loved It!

It felt like Lola’s book was a long time coming. We met her early in the series and she’s appeared in everybody else's book and finally gets her own.

Lola is smart, beautiful and the daughter of a man with the nickname Brawler. A man that is constantly telling his teammates to stay the F away from his daughter, even though she isn’t a little girl anymore. Lola has been crushing on River for quite a while, however with her dads prying eyes, has never made a move on him. Plus, the man is a closed book.He gives nothing away, nobody really knows who River Patton is, other than he’s a dick.

River is broody to say the least. It’s not like he goes out of his way to be, it’s something that is ingrained in him from his past. I really enjoyed getting to know his character more this time around. He wasn't necessarily written as a complete douchebag in previous books, it was always a question as to what put the chip on his shoulders and now we finally find out.

While predictable, plus the blurb pretty much gives the storyline away, it’s the moving parts of the characters that made it interesting. Lola’s overprotective dad not wanting this relationship and the pile of emotional baggage River has to sift through kept me quickly turning the page,

The book is well written and worth the wait for sure. We are still in touch with the other players and River’s family as well. Bad Boy’s Downfall reads as a standalone, however it’s much more fun meeting all the guys and their gals along the way. Great book to end the series!

Bad Boy’s Downfall is the finale of Gina Azzi’s Tennessee Thunderbolts hockey series. This is an opposites attract, forbidden romance with a twist and a little bit of angst amid a hockey backdrop.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

River and Lola have spent time together for years, since bad boy River is Lola’s dad Axel’s hockey teammate. River is known for his hard partying ways, and Axel repeatedly warns him to stay away from Lola. River has a hard time trusting and opening up to people, but Lola is different. Their attraction is evident to everyone around them, except Axel. But what happens when Lola decides it’s time to stop waiting around and go after what she really wants? And ends up with a baby on the way?

I’ve been an avid reader of this entire series of stand alones, and I’ve been waiting and waiting for these two to get together. River is sweet with Lola, and no one else. He’s also protective, even though he thinks he’s not good enough for her. Lola is trying to figure out her place in the world as she graduates college and creates her own identity outside of her family. I’m not a fan of the surprise pregnancy trope, but in this case I liked the characters enough that I still enjoyed the path these two took to their satisfying HEA.

Bad Boy’s Downfall is a satisfying forbidden love story with some angst and fun hockey found family thrown in. I’ll miss Gina Azzi’s Tennessee Thunderbolts, but I’m looking forward to what she’s writing next, especially her new football series!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I so adored this book!
A feel good story with a bit a sadness and unpredictable moments that had me so wrapped up in the story and the characters.
I loved River and Lola!
Lola is so freaking adorable and so sweet.
Beautiful and naive but not in an off putting way. She’s a girl I’d love to have as a friend. Loyal and caring and so very kind. She tries so hard to be perfect and precise in her life and her plans.
River broke my heart and also stole a huge piece of it.
He’s grumpy and doesn’t play well with others.
Except when he’s on the ice with his team.
But there is so much more to this broken man than what the world sees.
River and Lola are not living their complete lives truthfully. There’s pain and sadness in them that is hidden so well absolutely no one sees their struggles.
I loved how they were so drawn to one another
Even though they are so opposite to each other.
But the magic and magnetic pull that swirls around them is undeniable and beautiful to see.
They are so good together. Each one of them brings out the best in the other.
But rough roads and obstacles impacts their budding relationship.
Their story made me shed a couple of tears.
Had me holding my breath at times.
And brought joy to my heart and a smile to my face.
This is the first book in the series I’ve read and Ms. Azzi is also a new to me author.
I am definitely going to go and read the other books in the series.
And I’m definitely going to read future book by this author.
She has great writing style. And her characters are amazing lovable characters.

This was a heartfelt read that was filled with a ton of emotion and with two characters who have a lot of insecurities.

Lola and River start out as friends and it turns into more both have wanted each other for such a long time but, their situation is tricky but, we were glad they decided to take a chance on one another and see what could be.

We have to say River was our favorite he is a loving and caring man with a sense of humor and his insecurities are warranted because his past wasn't an easy one but, at some point he has to learn to trust someone or someones and let people in and start to believe in himself. Lola was a good start for him.
We had mixed feelings about Lola's character and we are going to leave it at that but, regardless how we feel she was good for River and vice versa. Jas character however we absolutely loved her she made us laugh time and time again.

Overall we loved being on the journey with the ups and downs these characters experienced we were rooting for them from the very beginning we wanted River to get his own happily ever after. We saw such growth with Rivers character and we loved that. What we loved the most is that both characters were experiencing a lot of firsts together both new to dating , navigating a relationship making communication a top priority and how both needed to work on the insecurities each had and how they needed to learned how to trust one another and so much more... Experiencing all these first will just make their relationship stronger along with all those bumps in the road.

What an end to this series this book was. This was a heart-in-your-mouth book, and I never really thought I would fall in love with River Patton, but I did. The title of "bad boy" wasn't deserved it was a clearly constructed front to save his heart, as he didn't feel deserving or anything. But when he falls, he does it hard and completely. And with Lola, it's exactly that. Wholeheartedly and completely.

Now we sort of got the gist of the way Brawler would handle any situation involving Lola, and yep, you guessed it. Bull and china shop is exactly what we get. But exactly how it happens and what occurs is for you all to find out and read for yourself. Just know that River and Lola's book is beautiful, a little heartbreaking, but has loads of beautiful touching moments that just melt your heart.

I totally recommend this great book and series. I'm gonna miss The Bolts and the family they create.

I have been waiting for Lola and River's book from the start of the series and as the series progressed I was even more excited for it. After I started the read I realised it was nothing as I expected. Gina took me completely off guard. My emotions were on the edge and by the end I laughed hard and shed some tears as well.

River was a mystery coz no one knew anything about him. I loved getting to know him despite his past being heartbreaking. Trust me I wasn't ready for so much depth in River's character. I did not expect River to be so mature and always put Lola before himself. By the time I finished the read my respect for River increased ten folds. I was swooning over him throughout the read.

Lola was just as sweet and nerdy as I got to know her. I fell in love with her just as with River and Jas (she is a friend every girl needs). The bond she shares with all the Bolt women, Jas and Axel is beautiful. Despite loving her I wasn't happy with some of her mistakes but she redeems herself immediately.

The way Lola and River bond left me with heart eye's and I especially loved there dates. The chemistry between them was smoking hot. The complete read was an emotional rollercoaster and by the end though, I was happy for River, Lola I was upset as the series has come to an end. I just hope we get some holiday novella's with all the Bolts and they also make appearances in the Coyotes books.

Thanks to Gina and Wildfire Marketing for the advanced copy.

4.25 Stars! 🧡🏒

they open their hearts and handle the real?

I've been so curious about both River and Lola and was so happy that we got their story! I was so glad that i got to dig into both of their minds and peel back their layers. I related to both River and Lola throughout. Their chemistry was undeniable and so was their connection. I didn't know how they'd tackle their feelings, a baby on the way, things in their lives, and the truth to those around them. My heart and i got so into their story, feeling every bit along the way.

All it takes is a moment for someone to see past it all and see you, and i loved how River and Lola's story showed that.

I really liked how this story touched on serious subjects and how it got to me. I also thoroughly enjoyed the whole Dad's teammate aspect of it as well. It was awesome being back in Tennessee at The Honeycomb and getting more of the Tennessee Thunderbolts crew! This world and it's characters got into my heart for sure.

With Bad Boy's Downfall, Ms.Azzi has created such a great read with heart, heat, and depth that had me feeling so much! From the characters to the hockey and Tennessee setting, this has been such an awesome series! I can't wait to read what this author comes up with next! 🧡🏒

Be sure to read the author's content warning as this book touches on certain subjects.

5 ⭐️ Best of the series!!!!

They have been denying their attraction for years. She’s the daughter of a teammate and he’s a player. I have read similar tropes before but not as well done by Gina. The chemistry is off the charts. The scary first time. And a hockey player that turns his life upside down, risking his team for the girl.
This is the last book in the Thunderbolt series, 😞, and I think it is the best storyline, closely followed by Beau’s.
River is the youngest player on the team, the only one that came up through the development league. He feels he has one foot out the door already. No one knows his backstory, no one gets close enough to ask. He only has interest in hockey and Lola. He has been making secretive, furtive glances at Lola for the past couple of years. Everyone on the team has been warned away from her by Brawler. He’s worried he’s going to be caught.

Lola is out of wedlock daughter of Brawler (Alex) who has been co-parented for her entire life. Her mom and dad never married but stayed friends. But they seemed to always be held back by her until recently. Her Mom is now married with two young boys and her Dad has found Maisy. Now she doesn’t fit into either’s life. But maybe that is okay. She’ll soon be graduating from college and starting her own career. And maybe date. But she only has eyes for River. Which can never happen. But her friend Jas seems determined to make it happen. 😆

Aw omg Lola and River's story is so so sweet and I couldn't do anything else but melt! 🫠💕 They're so full of love which is everything, and the chemistry sizzling between them is simply just ✨️ chef's kiss ✨️!

I've loved these two so much from the little glimpses we've gotten of them together throughout the series and each time you can feel this connection between them, both being drawn to each other. So it was amazing getting their own story and the love I had just grew tenfold! 😍

Lola is the daughter of Axel (from book two - Brawler's Weakness) so her and River have always denied their growing feelings because of it and because of his tough past but there's no stopping them from falling and oh boy do they fall hard! It's seriously the sweetest thing, while of course damnnn they're so hottt 💋🔥

River may be 'the bad boy' but he is the most caring sweetheart 🥹 the love he has for Lola is beautiful and the love for their unborn baby even more so, he is honestly the best guy! Lola is one of the most precious characters too with her gentle soul and kindest heart, and I adore her to pieces! 🥰

This definitely has some angst as well and a drop of feels, gosh I almost broke down with that one scene 😭 It's a beautiful love story and a best way to end the series that I've loved so much!

The only thing I hoped was to see Lola and River also once the baby is born but I can easily imagine them being the cutest little family of three!

OH THE EMOTIONS

4.5 Stars

I have been waiting for Lola Daire's story to take place. The fact that it's with River Patton is just even better. These two have been circling around each other for quite a while, and I am here for this pairing. I absolutely loved how these two found each other, how similar they are with their feelings of belonging, and the way they just help the other navigate through it all.

Now I can't lie, the biggest thing I wanted to see from this book was Axel's reaction. I can't help it. With how protective he is of Lola, I knew it was going to be intense. I didn't think it would go this way though. I wasn't expecting really any of that. Axel made me quite mad during one scene.

There were a few scenes in this book that had me tearing up. I wasn't expecting to get hit this hard. Yet it's what happens when you're an emotional reader.

I could not get enough of this book, this couple, or their story. I'm also bummed that this is the last Thunderbolts book, but I know Gina has other books headed our way. I would love to see Jas get her happily ever after, but only time will tell on that.

CW/TW: These were not listed at the beginning of the book, but I feel it's important to share so you aren't taken by surprise like I was.

• {ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʟʟ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛs} I wanted this book to be a surprise so I didn’t read anything about the book including the tropes. And honestly it was nothing like I expected, in a good way of course. I haven’t read a book with a surprise baby in such a long time and so I actually really enjoyed it when I found out that was what was happening!! I think the only downside for me was how fast and short this book was haha, I sometimes feel as though books could have been perfectly executed if they were just longer and more of a slow burn. Still can’t wait to see what we have in store next :))
• {ᴄʜᴀʀᴀᴄᴛᴇʀs} In this book we are introduced to River & Lola. River, sir. Hi ? You can never go wrong with a bad boy falling in love with a sunshine. River’s character was so interesting I wished we got to learn more of his background!! I also really wanted to see him as a full on dad, I just know he would have been so protective not only of his kiddo but of Lola!! You know what I want? Lola’s confidence and her ability to love hard. She too would be an amazing mother!! Love these two and really wished to have seen more of them together.
• {sᴘɪᴄᴇ} I mean she’s having a baby so we all know what went down hehe ;)

Book six in this series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
This is actually the first book I have read from this series. Though it is obvious that other players mentioned in this book found love over the course of the series, it never detracted from this book. River and Lola were so fun to read. He has been the angry, aloof, bad boy on the team. Lola, as the daughter of one of his teammates, is the good girl. She is smart, driven, and a little nerdy. I adored her character. In her senior year of college, she is facing all the changes that are coming as she figures out what she wants for her future.
River and Lola are so good together. I love how she sees the real man under his emotional armor. They have plenty of heat mixed with tenderness. River is protective of Lola while trying not to compromise her freedom and ability to make her own choices. He grows as their relationship grows and allows himself to open up to being loved and deserving the love of those around him. I couldn’t put this down. Incredibly well-written and paced in a way that it never lagged, this was an extremely enjoyable read.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

🏒❤️Bad Boys downfall❤️🏒

By Gina Azzi

Rating: ⭐️5/5

Emotions: ❤️5/5 🌶4/5

A perfect ending

The last Thunderbolt finally gets his own very happy end. And that with the sweetest girl.

Complicated, closed off and womanizer River doesn't fit in. Nowhere. Or so he thinks of himself. A very difficult and sad past did this to him.

Lola's life consists mostly of achieving her goals after College. Being the daughter to a Thunderbolt and  being raised between two very young parents made her want to make her parents proud by doing better.

Flirting with each other for a long time but never acting on it is River and Lola's thing. Too much is at risk, but with a lot of upcoming changes, things turn around.

Suddenly both find themselves in more than one situation that is life changing.

And they struggle with finding a way to manage life, fears, uncertainty and their feelings for each other.

A wonderful way to bring it all together and to a deserving end for all of these handsome and loving guys and their significant others.

A real and rocky way for Lola and River, a learning process but with so much love at every corner, my heart hurt to let them go. A unique Hockey Family not just a Team.

I don't remember how I stumbled onto Gina Azzi's Tennessee Thunderbolts series but I'm so glad I did it. And I think everyone who read this series would wait for Lola and River's book since they read "Brawler's Weakness" because it was so obvious then that they will end up together.

River has a typical hockey player trait in romance book which is being a "player"... you know what I mean, I know ;) And their relationship feel more forbidden because Lola is a daughter of his teammate. But since River is a rookie and Lola is a senior when they start their romance, I think their ages aren't different much but it's a little bit confusing because the timeline is so long between the first book they met and this book 🤔 River has come a long way from a playboy athlete and Lola is good for him. And usually I would feel irritating when a sibling or parents disapprove of a couple's love but I think I understand Lola's father but that doesn't mean I aren't rooting for River though and I'm so glad that he has Maisy and his parents at his back. Anyway, the story is a little bit angsty because of River's family issue and their secret relationship but it's well written and I read it smoothly till the end.
