Kauai's Hindu Temple

Iraivan Temple is a traditional hand-carved granite temple dedicated to Lord Siva. Iraivan temple is a pilgrimage destination located in the San Marga Sanctuary portion of Kauai Aadheenam---a traditional south Indian monastery located on Kauai, northern most of the Hawaiian islands---popularly refered to as Kauai's Hindu Monastery. Purpose of the Endowment

The Iraivan Temple Endowment has as its first priority to maintain the Iraivan Temple, the samadhi shrine of the temple's founder, Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, and the other shrines as well as payment of priests. Its second priority is to maintain the gardens and grounds of the current 70 acres, plus any subsequent connecting or nearby lands. This includes care of plants and ponds, paths and forests, fencing and gardeners. Lesser priority items this fund includes are the maintenance and repair of all other buildings, hiring security guards, gifts of prasadam, festivals and feedings, 10% to charity of which at least 5% will be given away on Kauai, giving of red rice, care of temple cows and office/administrative/legal expenses. After the Iraivan Temple Kumbhabhishekham, this fund can also include the construction of additional buildings but only if surplus funds exist beyond those needed for the above uses.

Goals of the Endowment

The financial goal of the Iraivan Temple Endowment is to build principal to $14.4 million which will provide a monthly grant of approximately $24,000.
