I sat there blinking and looking around the room as if that loop of attack thoughts was lurking in a corner ready to pounce on me again, but it didn’t come back. That was over a month ago. Thoughts like those do show up every now and then but not with the same force and not with the same emotional hook. Now, whenever a negative thought comes into my awareness, I catch it earlier on in the script and say the same phrase as the first time, “No! That’s an attack thought, and I don’t want it.” As Dr. David R. Hawkins states in his book Power vs. Force, “As one lets go of the desire to own these thoughts, they no longer reach such elaboration, and begin to fragment while only half-formed.” When we withdraw our attention and desire to listen to the chatter of the ego thought system, its strength dissipates, it gets quieter, it loses its power over our mind and slowly fades.
