About our Programming

Willamette Writers is one of the largest writers' organizations in the United States. We have year-round programming for all writers across the Pacific Northwest, as well as online.

Last year, we launched our first hybrid conference to rave reviews. We are excited to continue to offer a hybrid conference experience, with pitches and critiques online and workshops and keynotes offered both online and in-person (with a limited number of registrants to meet social distancing requirements). To keep our community safe, we will comply with all local and federal mandates as well as hotel safety protocols and our own safety policies to create a healthy, warm and welcoming atmosphere for our writing community.

About the Conference

Our Conference is a five-day, multi-disciplinary event with presentations and workshops on the craft and business of writing throughout the weekend, along with one-on-one critiques and pitching. The mission of our conference reflects that of our organization, which is to help writers connect with their communities, develop their craft, and expand their careers.

Our 2023 Conference

We welcome your proposal to present on writing-centered topics. We are looking for a mix of proposals that provide everything from basic literary and screenwriting skills to master-level workshops for pros. We are also seeking classes on specific genres, as well as business and marketing how-tos.

How our Proposal Process works

Workshops are reviewed and chosen by our Programming Council in two rounds. Our Programming Council is made up of members of the larger writing community, including authors, partner organizations, and community members.

**Proposals turned in before February 1st will have priority.**

Our Community

Willamette Writers is dedicated to building and supporting a diverse community of writers from all backgrounds and levels of experience. We are aware that prejudice exists in this world and that intolerance has led to oppression and disenfranchisement. Therefore, our goal is to create an inclusive and respectful community for all writers regardless of their race, religion, color, sex, marital status, family status, national origin, ethnicity, age, mental or physical ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, educational background or income.

Honorariums

Willamette Writers will provide an honorarium of $1.25/minute for presentations. Panelists and moderators are paid $30 per panel. Advance Manuscript Critique honorariums are $50 per critique for query letter + first 15 pages. On-the-spot critique honorariums are $10 for 10 minutes.

Thank you for being a part of our community. We look forward to reading your proposal!
