What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
• evaluate the expenditures of individual projects, programs and assessing budgetary impacts
• evaluate and monitor expenditure for projects, maintenance programs and transfer payment programs
• load data into electronic systems, prepare and assess computer generated financial reports and recommend corrective measures to compensate for deviation
• provide day-to-day support and training to user groups and provide expert level support and advice
• demonstrate a high level of customer service and client relations, managing payments and managing relationships with vendors
How do I qualify?
Technical Knowledge
• You have knowledge of accounting and financial management systems, techniques and practices and statistical procedures.
• You have knowledge of financial controllership practices in order to provide advice and solutions to field staff.
• You have experience in enhancing and developing program area computer applications.
• You have knowledge of computerized expenditure analysis and forecasting techniques and reporting systems.
• You maintain current year capital, maintenance and transfer payment program budgets, expenditure control and monitoring systems.
Analytical Skills
• You have reasoning and problem solving skills to consolidate and analyze information.
• You can monitor and assess status of program appropriation and budget and financial performance of programs.
• You can use evaluative and analytical skills to report on and explain expenditure variances, determine appropriate work performance periods, cash flows and expenditure impacts.
• You can monitor expenditures and ensure funding levels are not exceeded.
• You can interpret and apply government policies, directive and regulations governing estimates.
• You can use approved appropriation in order to ensure spending limits are adhered to.
Communication and Client Relationship Experience
• You can use communication skills to explain procedures and rules governing budget and expenditure reporting and control.
• You can communicate effectively to support customer relations and coordinate payments with Ontario Shared Services and vendors.
• You can provide guidance and training to clients on the use of computer applications.
• You can design reports which facilitate reading and use of substantial amounts of financial and reference data.
