Seeds of Forfeit is about to hit! February 15th I drop another novella from the series Garden of Infamy. Seeds of Forfeit is utterly foreign. Much of it takes place in places we've never been. Seeds of Forfeit ties to almost everything I've ever written. It touches on absolutely everything. There's a caste system in one of the races of my world, and the untouchables have brown hair and white eyes. The brown hair is actually quills. We saw this race in First Tree with Bryant Tagon. Anyway they are hated. It's never against the law to kill one or beat one. They're not allowed in the city and have to set up slums made of shacks and hidden passageways in front of the main gates of proper cities.

This is the kind of poverty where, if you can trade a rusty blade for a day-old rat tail then you have a great meal. This is where our character starts and it's pretty horrific what he has to go through. It ties to Song as his story answers a question from Song that nobody has ever asked. Ties to Hemlock, as again it answers a question that nobody has thought to ask, the cryptic last word that'll make sense after this book. Ties to The Madness Wars because there are scenes that actually take place during the Madness Wars. It tells a very important story to a relationship that Aaron has.

Because it ties to The Madness Wars, it also ties to Seeds of Revenge. It ties to First Tree because part of Seeds of Forfeit takes place in a city visited by Barric and Bryant. And this novella shows us so much more of so many other things. So many new places are explored, and it's just something I'm really excited about giving you. This novella ties so many things together that it's impossible to pick this book up and the rest of my world not rise up with it. Bridges and walkways, paths and streets, from one section to another. It's just gorgeous. I don't want to say gorgeous, gorgeous is arrogant. So let me go even more arrogant, since I'm here already.

It's getting easier. As I continue to tie these books together, knot for knot, weave for weave, it's starting to get easier, skipping from one story to the next. I'm starting to get good at this, and it's a good thing, too. Because I'm about to move into the most difficult writing I've ever done and that I've ever heard of anyone doing. Seeds of Forfeit will give you a glimpse of what I'm doing now, how intricate things are getting, and maybe it'll get you excited for the next part.
