Today’s Front Page Article On Orsted Wind Is Fake News.

During the past seven weeks, seven dead whales were found on the beaches of New Jersey and Long Island, New York.  These whale deaths are unprecedented.  They occurred shortly after a sonar survey vessel called the Fugro Enterprise did two extensive sonar (underwater sound) tests in the area.   Those tests were done to find suitable locations for roughly 200 wind turbines to be built by Atlantic Shore Offshore Wind, LLC off the beaches of Long Beach Island, NJ.  See below map charting the movement of the Fugro Enterprise between December 1, 2022 and January 13, 2023.

It is undisputed that sonar tests produce large amounts of underwater noise that prevents whales and other marine mammals from navigating and communicating with each other underwater.  In 2002, the U.S. Navy admitted that sonar tests it made then killed six whales.  Since then, environmental groups like Greenpeace protested against underwater sonar testing for oil exploration because they claimed it killed whales and threatened other marine life.  Click here for link to previous post:  17 Years Of Wind Energy Lies Are Killing Whales Today. – Liberty and Prosperity

However, during the past two weeks, two U.S. government agencies and several environmental “watchdogs” claimed there was no connection between the sonar tests of the Fugro Enterprise and any of the recent whale deaths.

Today, the Press of Atlantic City published a front page article with the headline “Noises off” .  That article describes different mapping work by a different “lift boat” called the Northstar Voyager for a different project.  That article describes how the Northstar Voyager has been mapping the ocean floor to help Orsted place underwater electric cables between Ocean City and the 200 wind turbines in plans to build off the beaches of Brigantine, Atlantic City, and Ocean City.  Click here for link to online version of Press of Atlantic City article:  Ørsted: No sound surveys have been part of wind project work since the summer (pressofatlanticcity.com)

The article correctly explained that the mapping work now being done by Orsted does not cause loud underwater noises like sonar testing, and does not harm whales.  It then stated:

“After a spate of deaths of humpback whales which have washed up on New Jersey beaches, including in Strathmere, Atlantic City and Brigantine this sinter, some have speculated that the sound from underwater mapping may have injured or distressed the whales”.

What today’s article said is simply not true.  Nobody claimed that Orsted’s mapping survey was harming the whales.  A real news story would have recognized that since 2002, the U.S. Navy, Greenpeace, and most environmental “watchdogs” agree that sonar tests disrupt marine life and kill whales.  It would have also reported that Michael Shellenberger and many reputable environmental scientists warn that placing more than 400 giant wind turbines directly in the migration path of the endangered “right whale” threatens to wipe out the 350 known survivors of that species.

Finally, a real news story would have reported that the Fugro Enterprise is a “Research Vessel” that does sonar testing.  And it would have reported that this vessel did two extensive survey trips for “ASOW” (Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind) during a six week period between December 1, 2022 and January 12, 2023.  And it would have noted that seven dead whales were soon found on beaches near where this work was done, as set forth in the ship tracking chart shown at the beginning of this post.  For more details, click here for link to: our previous post:  17 Years Of Wind Energy Lies Are Killing Whales Today. – Liberty and Prosperity

However, many reliable sources have claimed that the Atlantic Shore Ocean Wind sonar (underwater sound) testing was killing whales.  They also claimed that placing more thanerity.com is a tax-exempt, non-political education organization of roughly 200 citizens who mostly live near Atlantic City, New Jersey.  We formed this group in 2003.
