The Federal Government has released guidelines for new grants to help develop Australia’s critical minerals sector, support downstream processing, create jobs, and strengthen global efforts to achieve Net-Zero.

The Critical Minerals Development Program will provide up to $50 million in grants from $1 million to $30 million to support financing and production of early to mid-stage critical minerals projects.

The Program aims to support projects that will strengthen Australia’s capacity to supply and process critical minerals, necessary for important low-emissions technologies including electric vehicles, solar panels, lithium-ion batteries, and rare earth element magnets as well as aerospace and defence applications.

To be eligible, projects need to align with the Critical Minerals List as outlined in Australia’s Critical Minerals Strategy.

Applications for the grants are now open until Monday 20 February 2023.
