Recently, GDi conducted a workshop on 'Paddy straw residue management in Punjab' with the objective of knowledge sharing and strengthening collaboration between the organizations that are delivering impact on stubble management in Punjab. Participants across the following agencies- A-PAG, Asar, CII Foundation, Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) J-PAL South Asia, Open Philanthropy, Syngenta Foundation, Takachar and The Nature Conservancy, attended the workshop and shared their insights, experiences and learnings. We presented our stubble management framework, the initiatives we undertook in the 2022 Kharif season, our learnings from collaborating with the Government, and our own insights from field visits. We envision that this workshop, conducted 9 months in advance of the harvesting season in 2023, will be instrumental in setting the wheel in motion to achieve lower stubble-burning numbers this year.
