Should NJ State Highway Gas Taxes Pay For Beach Town Boardwalks?

Today, ConstructionCoverage.com reported that New Jersey has the second worst roads and highways in America.  Click here for link to its February 8, 2023 Media Release.

This is seven years after Republican Governor Christie, together with NJ Democrats raised state tolls and gas taxes to among the highest in the country.  Should the state now start also funding the building ad repair of Boardwalks, which are local tourist attractions for summer resort beach towns?

The Atlantic City Boardwalk now needs extensive repairs because of a fire this weekend caused by a homeless encampment under the Boardwalk.
