Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent nearly a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love: writing. When she’s not lost in her own made up worlds, she’s probably either reading or shopping—maybe even both at once. She lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it's mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible. ----- Quinn -----

I'm in awe of her achievements, even in a male-dominated profession. Even though she went through a lot just to get to where she was right now, she added to that the fact that she was lacking support, especially from her narcissistic parents.

I just wished she wouldn't take the bait every time Ford was egging her. I think it would be more amusing to prove that he doesn't know her, like he proclaimed when she treated him with indifference. She always gets distracted when he is around. I mean, can't a girl, idk, act like she wasn't affected? Reading her POV about the things she would like to do with Ford or how her brain is so short-circuitted that she can't even think straight was annoying the heck out of me. She was a headstrong woman, among other things that concerned her job, her parents, and her patients, which truly was admirable. Yet when it came to Ford, she was always a pathetic, horny mess. She didn't even last for a week with their fake marriage; on the second night of them being married, she finally gave in. Ugh, am I disappointed? Yes, abso-fvcking-lutely! What happened to not sleeping with him? I can't with her, why Quinn???

Anyhow, I honestly liked the fact that she cut off her parents. They were toxic and not good for her at all. I'm just glad that even though it took her more than 30 years to realize how she was abused by those people who were supposed to care for her, she was not dissuaded from officially cutting them off. It took a lot of strength to do that. It was also fulfilling that she was able to buy the clinic. While the circumstances as to why she successfully bought it were not that great, I can honestly say no one deserves it more than Quinn. The way she put up with her misogynistic boss and still cared for the patients was amazing.

----- Ford -----

I'm not really a fan of playboy heroes or the "reformed" manwhore trope. Yet I still read this one, and that's my problem.

I had to be reminded of his promiscuity (at least NOT every chapter; it still didn't make me vexed any less) by him or by Quinn. I don't need the idea of the hero with other women. Not now, not ever. Ford's POV made it look as if not getting laid was fatal. Am I exaggerating? Probably. But the point is, he kept saying he was at war with his dick because it wouldn't get up with anyone else but Quinn. He kept saying he hasn't gotten any action in months and was getting frustrated, when it has just been only 3 or 4 fvcking months for him yet 3 fvcking YEARS. Read that again, 3 YEARS for Quinn!!! I guess if you're a manwhore even a day without sex is really deadly 🙄

His flirting and seduction skills (definitely honed throughout the years of him fvcking around) were on point, like all the time! He was so sure and confident of himself. Using these tactics with Quinn made me more peeved. He was obviously winning this freaking game, and I hate that Quinn kept falling for his antics. Sometimes I just think that all he ever wanted from her was to get laid. I'm not sure if he was really in love or just in lust🤷‍♀️

Though he was known for sleeping around, it still did sting when his ex described him as the man for ONS and good times but not the man to bring to parents or someone worth keeping forever. That was just a shitty thing to say, frankly.

For the life of me, I couldn't buy the idea that he has been obsessed with or infatuated with her for almost 17 years. It started at 15 yo and presently they were 31/32 yo adults. The moment Quinn decided to leave their town for college to pursue being a doctor. Ford then changed his ways and became a freaking manwhore and the reason for this was because he was searching for the emotions evoked by Quinn in other women. I don't know if this should be swoony or rage-inducing; tbh, I'm not sure. This behavior of his being a womanizer made his affection for Quinn feel so cheap, superficial, and disgusting. If I were her and this is the kind of love he has to offer, then it'll be a hard pass for me. Imo, he doesn't deserve her, not back then or now.

On the positive side, he was very thoughtful about those children in their Little League. It shows how much he cares for those kids, and that was very endearing to read. Also, the way he was so astute with Quinn's feelings and needs. She doesn't even have to say anything because he already knows just what she needs. How he defended her against her boss and her father, birds of the same feathers really flock together, both misogynistic assholes 🙄

----- Overall -----

I was already hesitant about the "reformed" trope, but since I loved the first two books in this series, I want to love this too. But boy, did Ford's history exasperate me so much. I did try to tamp down the annoyance running in my veins, but it wasn't an easy feat. I couldn't enjoy their scenes together because I couldn't get past him being a manwhore, istg I'm trying my best to be more open, but it was so difficult 😭

The annoyance melts away around 70% of the book when Ford takes care of Quinn during her period. He was so sweet and caring towards her. After that, their scenes together were slowly becoming tolerable at the best. The operational word was tolerable, and then there was the glaring fact again of his reputation. I thought the author was done reminding us, but no, it has to be mentioned again. Which then again annoyed the hell out of me. I've barely tamp down my irritation, and then it flared back to full strength because of that text. Ugh! Is it even possible to have a book where being reminded of the hero's reputation is subtle?

In any case, I didn't enjoy this book. There were some sweet, cute, and hot moments, but they were not enough to make me like this book. Again, this may work for some readers who truly enjoy Ford and Quinn's story. It's just not the case for me.

I have been living for this series and after the set up for Ford and Quinn, I couldn't wait to dive in.

I looooooooved these two. Their history is hilarious when you hear it from Ford's POV vs Quinn's and I couldn't get enough of the antagonizing and button pushing. The chemistry is off the charts, but hands down, the best is the way Ford listens and responds. Of course the siblings and Mabel are fantastic and it's always a delight to see them.

Plot wise, it's good. I'm a sucker for a fake marriage, but this is just a bit more. The way they slowly reveal themselves (literally and figuratively), the honest and open conversations, the adoration...it's absolutely delicious. And I can always count on the HEA from Brighton, but this epilogue was perfection.

Overall, this was another great addition to the series. The set up for Aiden's book is going to make the wait a hard one.

**Huge thanks to Brighton for spoiling me with the arc free of charge**

He my wife’s her to death and i ATE IT TF UP.

Brighton Walsh has quite literally perfected her formula bc i enjoyed every moment in this book. The banter was great, then tension was insane and the chemistry? Bitch please

This was SO HOT yet very sweet and gave me all the damn feels. The dirty talk is some of the best I’ve ever read. He says all the right things at the perfect time and everything just hits the way it should. I definitely had Fanny flutters. I want more of them so baddddd.

2.5 ⭐️ I like this series and the writing is good but this is my least favorite one so far. Ford grew on me but wasn’t anything I haven’t read a lot of times before.

So, ok. Ford hasn’t seen her for like 14 years and they were never together, so I don’t expect him to be waiting for her, but why is there no in between from discerning and total manwhore?

Once Quinn’s back in town, he’s thankfully not with anyone else. I was only feeling lust on his side for a while, and it took a while for me to warm up to him. And why is is always unbalanced and the heroine is always celibate for a long long time?

Call me petty but I like when the heroine gives the hero a hard time for his playboy ways and refuses him for a while. Instead she’s always turned on by his innuendos and impressed he hasn’t been with anyone in a ~few months.~

Moving past that, he does some sweet things for her. I liked when he cared for her during her period and when her boss died. I did feel like them being in love was a little abrupt, but at least they did know each other in the past.

Their end fight brought back past issues and Ford is lamenting that she doesn’t see him as anything but a playboy. I got twisted pleasure from this, tbh. 😂 I believe you can change but I also don’t think you can be mad when people see what you’ve presented to the world and actually done for half your life! I don’t know, I didn’t have sympathy when he tries to justify his past as him looking for someone like her. (My least fave trope is it was always you - while I slept my way through hordes of women.)

I did like that he stood up to her dad at the end and Quinn is finally learning to let her walls down. Overall there was good spice, but as a personal preference, I liked the other books better!

P.S. It seems like the next book is going be Aiden’s even though I’ve been side eyeing Levi this whole time?!

Omg, this was so good. My favorite out of the series so far! 💕

I LOVE the marriage of convenience trope so much, and this book NAILED the trope!! Ford has been and will always be obsessed with “his wife”. He used any excuse he could to call her wife and I. Ate. It. Up. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The audiobook was one of the best I’ve listened to in a while. Joe Arden and Emma Wilder were so good together. This is definitely one of Joe’s underrated books. I was slack jawed at Joe’s performance during the 🌶️ scenes, but really it was during the whole book. I finished this bad boy in a day.. so, yeah. 🙃

It was never said but the praise kink was definitely there. I was waiting for that famous line too. So sad but dang did he have a filthy mouth. Drool worthy. I also always love a pierced dick. The banter was great and Mabel… a dirty old lady is what everyone needs on their life. There are some mentally abuse that has happened, and it affects the FMC but Ford helps her out. I’m more ways than one. Overall, great book.

Oh it was soooo nice to be back in Starlight Cove!! I have been impatiently awaiting this book since Protective Heart set up Ford and Quinn’s story beautifully. I swear I have a new favorite McKenzie sibling after every book. I absolutely looooved Ford and Quinn’s story, more than I thought I would. This was a true rivals to lovers and the angst and chemistry between these two was very evident. I also thoroughly enjoyed the plus sized/curvy girl rep, working through self esteem issues and PCOS, with Ford assisting with building up her confidence and showing her she’s worthy of love, from everyone, but especially him 🥰

While I still hate miscommunication tropes, Brighton did a fantastic job of explaining the reasons why both characters struggled with it and their negative thoughts. I love that her books have the shortest “third act breakups” and the characters reconcile and communicate rather quickly. And that their actions show their true feelings. Now I will eagerly await the extended epilogue!

While I’m not sure how Beck and Ford’s books can be topped (I guess it makes sense the twins books are my current favs), Aiden’s book was set up so well and I am so excited to continue on with this series!

*HUGE thank you to Brighton and her team for sending me an ARC of Fearless Heart*

FORD FORD FORD!! In one word Delicious!

I loved Ford from the very first book but in Becks book I got to see him more and was waiting badly for his book and Brighton did not disappoint!

Ford was so funny and I CANNOT GET OVER his conversations with his D**k. His inner monologue! Omg I was dying laughing.
I loved how Ford was so obsessed with Quinn from the very beginning even when she gave him hard time. I loved how understanding and caring he was towards her. Loved their banter. Loved how Quinn kept him on his toes.

I related so much with Quinn and her struggles too and related to everything that she was feeling. It broke my heart reading how she felt and how she craved love all her life. Many of us go through the similar feelings and struggle. ( hated dr D***nose so much )

Ford’s first ‘ my wife ‘ moment had me screaming and giddy! And how their first date happened 😁

The book was very spicy as Brighton’s all other books 🥵 their CHEMISTRY was out of the world. I could feel how they craved each other and their history. I could feel how they were Meade for each other and found their way to each other no matter what.

I highly recommend this book. And I would like to thanks again to Brighton and her team for kindly providing me with this book.

Oh my gosh! I’m loving these Starlight Cove books. Ford and Quinn’s story is my favorite so far. They’ve known each other since high school, always having a rivalry with each other. But Fords also always had a crush on her! A big one. And when she moves back to Starlight Cove after being gone a decade, her snarky attitude is still there towards him. Ford however loves it. And when he auctions himself off for his sister, Quinn is the winner. They both need a spouse- her so she can take over the practice she works at, and him so he has a date to his ex’s wedding. So they agree on a fake marriage. Only Ford isn’t faking anything, he’s all in. He just needs to convince Quinn his feelings are the real deal and he’s always felt them for her.
I loved this book, the way Ford truly saw her for her. Quinn had low self esteem, and Ford had a way of building her confidence up and made her feel important. He never saw any failures, he just saw her. What started as a fake marriage turned into a beautiful forever love story!

Rivals to lovers plus fake marriage? Yes, please! (Okay, so they weren't actually rivals, but Quinn saw it that way).

Ford was such a great character. He pestered Quinn all throughout their teenage years because he had a crush on her. His relationship with his siblings was great, and he was a very kind and caring guy. Also, he was protective of Quinn in that he stood up for her when others tried to tear her down.

Quinn was also a great character! First, she moved back home to help out all the people, women especially, in her small town. She was a doctor so when her patients came to her with a problem, she actually helped diagnose it rather than just giving some useless advice as to why the problem was occurring. Basically, she actually LISTENED to people. Further, she didn't need Ford to stand up for her. She stood up for herself, and not only that, but she totally knocked down the people who tried to insult her. So she was smart, caring, a bada**, and was dealing with real problems.

I loved the banter between Ford and his siblings. They all joked around and poked fun at each other, but I could see they actually loved each other. I also loved seeing Ford and Quinn's relationship turn into something more than a fake marriage. They were so good for each other and they spice was great! I can't wait to read Aiden's story!

This book is seriously incredible.

I’m always out to try and find good plus size reps and this one is probably the best I have read so far. I felt so seen and understood reading this book that frankly it made me feel not so alone. I was crying by the end as I could completely understand Quinn’s pain.

Besides the amazing rep this is also fun, STEAMY, and fast paced. I was so absorbed in the story I wanted to devour it in one and only adult responsibilities like good sleep patterns stopped me from doing so (so rude 🙄😂).

Ford is just the perfect book boyfriend/husband. I just love him and want one for myself, where can I get one?

I would honestly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. And I am definitely going to go back and read the other two books, I am especially intrigued by Brady ‘ Lima’s book!

I LOVE coming back to Stalight Cove, the McKenzie siblings are the most fun, I really enjoy reading their dynamics and I was VERY happy reading Ford & Quinn, they have an interesting story, very funny, tender & sensual interactions that made me fall in love with both of them and the best representation that Brighton Walsh could give me of a character with a diverse body with Quinn, who was my favorite from Fearless Heart.

And she was AMAZING: a strong woman, who knows what she wants, has worked hard to achieve it, who comes to Starlight Cove to fulfill her dream and who really cares about helping her patients, although her story also broke my heart because it has one of the most horrible characters I've read as a boss and a relationship with her parents that hurts her constantly, so she doesn't always allow herself to be vulnerable, keeps people away, and pushes herself too hard.

Ford's one of the funniest McKenzies, the playboy from Starlight Cove who has had a crush on Quinn since he was a teenager, is a firefighter with a big heart, who is always there for her and who is MUCH more than what he lets on in his everyday interactions. One of the things I liked the most about this character was learning a different point of view about their father, how he misses his relationship with his mother and that he confided those feelings to Quinn.

The love story of Quinn & Ford begins with a marriage that will benefit them both in different ways and has an expiration date that they both agree to from the beginning, the problem is that Quinn can't stand being around Ford, BUT ever since she moved in with him she realizes that he's completely different from what she thought, that she can trust him, and that surprisingly, he becomes the haven and home she never expected to find in Starlight Cove.

If you love romance. If you love small-town romance. If you love broken MMCs who fall first. If you love a family full of curmudgeons who have each other's backs no matter what. If you love a perfectly executed miscommunication trope.

This is a book for you.

Ford McKenzie and Quinn Cartwright have been locking horns since they were children. Always competing, their only mode was bickering until Quinn moved away for college. Now she is back in town and is the number two doctor in the town's only clinic. (If you surveyed some of the clinic's patients, however, they would tell you that the brilliant and compassionate doctor is their number one.) She has been asking her boss what it would take to buy the clinic, and the misogynistic twerp responded with a requirement: she must be married.

Ford has been trying to clean up his reputation as the town lothario. When his ex-girlfriend rubs her wedding in his face and calls him the Never-Forever Guy, he tells her that she will see him and his girlfriend at the wedding. A girlfriend that does not exist.

Ford and Quinn eventually agree to put their proverbial weapons down and go through marriage until they can achieve their goals: Quinn gets her clinic, and Ford gets his comeuppance at his ex's wedding.

But as they go through their fake marriage, they get more insight into their fake spouse. And what they're learning has them questioning: maybe their fake vows are more happily ever after than they estimated.

I fell in love with this series since Brady's story, and each McKenzie story just gets me more and more invested in Starlight Cove. I feel like I cannot adequately convey how much I have enjoyed and loved this book.

Ford is just adorable. His connection to Quinn reads so naturally and effortlessly. In a family of pitbulls, Ford is the carefree Labrador who does what he is asked and takes life not too seriously. Don't mistake him to be a pushover, though. I love the growly Ford when it comes to protecting the people he loves.

And Quinn. I cannot say enough about how much I absolutely related to her. The pressure of being one's own champion is overwhelming, and I love the thought and care that Brighton Walsh (and Ford) takes to address Quinn's family history.

Their chemistry, even when they were fighting, is just on point. I feel like each McKenzie sibling just gets dirtier in each read, and I almost feel like for the later siblings because their brothers certainly keep setting that bar higher and higher. Carefree as he may be, Ford takes charge in the bedroom and there are no regrets..in Quinn's part and in this reader's. The tension that has been building over the course of three books finally gets its payoff and I was not disappointed at all.

Of course, Starlight Cove would not be Starlight Cove without its wonderful ensemble cast. The siblings and their partners are back as begrudgingly charming as ever. And good ol' Mabel is back with her old and new tricks, both of which are equally as entertaining.

This book is the third in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. If you have not been paying attention to the rest of my review, though, let me stress one thing: I love the series. And I really hope that you would, too.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Brighton Walsh and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing an ARC. **

Jeeze, Brighton Walsh can write a man…

If you want spice that will have your face like 😳… have I got a book for you.

📔 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼: Fearless Heart, book three in the Starlight Cove character series.

📚𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Enemies-to-lovers, fake marriage, opposites attract.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Ford is the town playboy… a firefighter who takes risks and lives life fast and hard. Quinn is the opposite - a young doctor who lives an orderly life. The pair have been at each others throats since high school - but they find themselves married in a crazy scheme and have to deal with the consequences.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: This was a great book… but when I closed it I was still just stuck on Ford and his absolutely filthy mouth.

Ford and Quinn were such good “enemies” - the banter was fantastic, and the thaw they both had toward each other was wonderful. But this was my favorite type of E2L - where he’s just been in love and pining all along. It was *chef’s kiss*

But Brighton Walsh writes some immaculate dirty talk. Like, this was small town romance on steroids with a whip. And I was here for every second of it. This whole series has been a delight to read - perfectly paced, sitting at about 250 pages each, and with a great balance of heat and plot. You won’t regret picking it up.

📝 𝗔 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲… You’re totally fine to read this as a standalone and move forward or read back if the book strikes your fancy. I’ve read the first two in the series and they’re both just as good.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fearless Heart- Brighton Walsh
Narrated by Joe Arden and Emma Wilder

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Narration 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

This one has several of my favorite tropes and my favorite male narrator and I was here for all of it. Starting off with old high school rivals Ford and Quinn, their back and forth and always wanting to one up each other is just top tier. They both have a need for a spouse so we’ve got a marriage of convenience, and we all know how these go. Ford “my wife”the shit out of Quinn and I melted every single time, and of course he fell for her so hard way back when they were in high school and she was oblivious to it all. As always the banter between the McKenzie siblings is hilarious! I am cracking up every time they are going at it with each other.

If you’ve read a single one of my reviews that I’ve written that Joe Arden is the narrator on, you know that in my eyes, that man can do no wrong. He could read the phone book and it would be a 5 star narration for me. Emma did a great job as well. I loved her sultry voice for Quinn.

4.5⭐️ This was everything I was expecting and then some! Super steamy and I loved the dual POV. I hate miscommunication tropes, but this one was so short-lived that I actually didn’t mind it. Cute small town romance, I loved it.

To the reviews saying they were disappointed in Quinn for “giving in” too easily, imma need you to BFFR. I would’ve given in to this man so quick (and I’m a girl-boss med student too), and you probably would’ve too. He was smooth and respectful with it, plus the long history of tension between them, let’s get real. She was powerful and intelligent, doesn’t mean she has to be a prude too.

clueless girl and boy obsessed is and always will be my favorite duo

fearless heart features all the necessaries for the perfect small-town romance. the two main characters could be described as polar opposites and were in even arch enemies in high school. the found family trope is probably one of the best parts of the book, and you really feel like you are a part of the towns people. it manages to hit nearly every cliche or trope but somehow manages to not become cringey. if you love small town romances with found family, marriage of convivence and great pcos representation then please read you won't be disappointed!

tropes: baseball, boy obsessed, contemporary, forced proximity, jealousy, marriage of convivence, medical romance, polycystic ovarian syndrome representation, rivals, small town, spicy.

broooo this guy was obsessed. mans never spoke to her, BUT KNEW HER SCHEDULE AND HE DIDNT HIDE IT. he watched her, appreciated it and worshiped her from afar. she hated him. i love that combination. he had to WORK for it.

i recommend it.

Not as bad as the other recommendations from TikTok! It was a good pallet cleanser! However I will say Ford (don’t love the name) was an excellent boyfriend! I might actually have to read the other books in the series now!

Dnf 15% ish. Evil Dr. side character was just way too cartoony for me to take book seriously.

three stars doesn’t mean bad

It was cute and short. I actually enjoyed it. Only reason I gave it a 3 was because some of it was too cheesy for my liking but overall it was cute.
