This might just be my all-time favorite friends to lovers book! It was sweet. It was sexy. It was believable. Kenan and Quinn were so perfect for each other if only they were willing to take the leap into romance and out of the friend zone. Each one had his/her reasons for doubting any long term relationship. They teetered on the edge for so long that I even had my doubts. But true to Ms. Croix’s mighty pen, they worked hard for that happy ending.
This is a quick read that will put a smile on your face at the same time that it will leave you wanting much more from the people in Fireweed Harbor.

This is the third book in the Fireweed Harbor Series by J.H. Croix about the lives of the Cannon family. This book is about Kenan Cannon and Quinn Blackthorne. These two have been best friends forever; neither has thought of the other as anything more.
Kenan, being a Cannon, works for Fireweed Industries. He doesn’t have a specific job but is the go-to guy when things need to get done, the problem solver. Quinn is an attorney working for Fireweed Industries, not wanting to work in the family law firm but taking over the position for her father when he wants to retire.
While at his brother’s wedding, Kenan notices for the first time just how beautiful Quinn is; he thinks it has to be the wedding and the amount of alcohol he has had to drink. She can’t possibly feel anything more than friendship, can she?
Quinn feels the same but wants marriage, children, and the white picket fence.
He thinks that he doesn’t want those things because of things that happened in his family’s past. Before Quinn and Kenan got together, she decided to have a child on her own through IVF. She hasn’t told anyone about the decision. She accidentally leaves her medication on the counter in her bathroom. Of course, Kenan finds it and questions her. She reminds him that he doesn’t want those things but wants to discuss them. Quinn shakes her head, no, so Kenan walks out the door, and she lets him go.
Neither of them is reaching out to the other one. Both are miserable. Quinn decides to help her father and go to Seattle to get a contract signed. Kenan is in Diamond Creek with Blake to check on the new brewery and restaurant. While there, he talks to his older half-brother Chase about being a dad. Chase tells Kenan that he can’t even imagine not having his wife and son in his life. Can he picture his future without Quinn being a part of it? Can he imagine what it will feel like to see her with another man’s child? Kenan has the answer, now to convince Quinn.

More Fireweed Harbor and more of the Cannons? Yes please!
Be The One is the third book in this addicting series by J.H. Croix and while the stories are all interconnected, there is enough detail about various relationships and background that the story can certainly be enjoyed as a complete stand alone.
This book has that best friends to lovers thing going for Quinn Blackthorne and Kenan Cannon and I love it. The attraction and tensions are there- and even though everyone around them can see it, Quinn and Kenan try to skirt that line for fear of hurting their relationship. Especially with the added complications of Quinn working for Kenan's family and the inevitable awkwardness that would come with living in a small town should things not work out.
I love how J.H. crafted this story in a way that built the tensions and desires between these two. As much as I wanted them to give into it all, I ended up liking the slower pace as it lent this more genuine aspect to the way that neither one of them could deny the spark they felt between them. Kenan and Quinn just fit so perfectly together. While Quinn was secure in her life path and may have felt intimidated by Kenan's good looks and easy going personality- Kenan struggled with knowing exactly where he fit in his large family. I think that there was this mutual comfort in one another when it came to their insecurities as Quinn had unwavering faith in Kenan (outside of his desire for a lasting relationship) and Kenan could make Quinn feel like the most desired woman in the world.
I think that Kenan's freak out about Quinn's plans was done perfectly. He knew he was in enough to not want her to follow through but scared enough to sulk away instead of fighting when she didn't jump at wanting everything with him. It felt like a testament to how close they really were as friends- that she knew his view on forever and was willing to put her moment of happiness to the side for his in the long run. I loved the brotherly moments between the various Cannon boys as Kenan was trying to figure out whether forever was a thing he could offer or if he really could let Quinn go.
In the end I really enjoyed the way that these two played out and I'm already excited for what's to come for MacKenna after the meet cute disaster in Kenan and Quinn's epilogue!

Be the One is the third book in the Fireweed Harbor series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Quinn Blackthorne and Kenan Cannon have been best friends for years and knew each other since they were children. Now, Quinn is working as an attorney for the Cannons’ family business, so they are around each other even more. Seeing each other more makes them realize that they feel something more than friendship, but neither wants to cross that line in case it ruins their friendship. Yet, neither can deny that they are attracted to each other.
Kenan had a lot of family problems. He didn’t have a horrible childhood, but his family, namely the parental figures in his life, were really awful. The impact they had on him made him feel like he could never be a husband nor a father. In fact, he didn’t even want children. He was just working for his family’s company and not even in a specific job. But with Quinn, he realized that he was capable of loving someone. He also realized what he really wanted out of life.
Quinn was the opposite of Kenan when it came to family matters. She may not have wanted a husband per se, but she did want to have a child. She knew Kenan’s views on being a parent, so she never approached him with that topic. She did want to be with Kenan, but she understood why he felt the way he did, so she tried to take a different route to becoming a mother.
This was such a cute best friends to lovers story. I liked how both characters really thought about their friendship before starting anything more between them. It was obvious that they had chemistry and attraction, so much so that even their friends and family noticed; but they still thought about their friendship first. They had such a great connection, and they really understood each other. This was another great book by J.H. Croix, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

This is book three in The Firewood Harbor series and it is Quinn and Kenan’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Quinn and Kenan have been best friends for years and also work together which is just perfect for both of them because they get on so well and never thought of each other as anything more until one day things started to change and they both started to see each other in a different way and noticed things about each other that had never happened before but neither could acknowledge what was there as their friendship was so important to them both and losing that would devastate them both. Quinn and Kenan both have baggage and insecurities that keep them from exploring or talking about how they feel about each other but there connection as best friends is so strong, important and beautiful and they truly are made for each other and together they are stronger and perfect together and even though they will have many ups and downs, uncertainty and difficult decisions to make they both definitely deserve happiness and a future together and you find yourself hoping that they can take a chance and a leap of faith. I absolutely loved this book and series as it gets better and better with each book that is written. I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting and you feel like you are there living through everything with them and going through all there feelings and emotions and it was a real page turner that had you completely engrossed in the story and I can’t wait to read more books in this amazing series.

Nothing, nothing at all, and to top it all, it's a book from an author I really love.
J.H. Croix has given me some of my favorite books and being greedy, I always want more.
Her writing is so freaking amazing, hot and so much more.
Be the One is her latest release and the third book from the Fireweed Harbor series.
Have you read the first books from this series? I advise you to do so. You'll see why.

Perfect plot, well written, super engaging, sweet and so much in between.

Well, this book was special, the perfect friends-to-lovers romance and I loved it so freaking much.
The push and pull game was there as well as true love and friendship.
It was infuriating in some scenes because...why not go for it?? but I loved it so much.
The chemistry these two share...dayum.
It was another amazing book that will make you dream, and so much more.

This is the third book in the Fireweed Harbor Series but could easily be read as a stand alone. I love how the Author gives us a connection between other series with her books from time to time. This is a wonderful friends to lovers story that has our characters pushing past their fears to have what they want.
Quinn and Kenan has been friends forever as their families have been close all their lives. As they began to work more closely together after returning from college that friendship continued to grow into best friends. For many years they have both been asked about stronger feelings for each other and never felt or expected anything more until that one day, when you see someone in a different light. How do you continue to fight those feelings because you are afraid if things go bad, but secretly hope all at the same time. Never dreaming that he/she might feel the same.

J.H. Croix did it again – deliver the best slow-burn emotion-stimulating love story. I was up late at night reading with tears in my eyes. Kenan and Quinn have been friends since childhood. When they both come back to work for their respective family business, they got closer. Quinn now is a lawyer of Kenan’s family business. They turn into best friends in the last few years. All of a sudden, the chemistry between them spikes. They can’t wait to be with each other. But they are afraid this new change will ruin their precious friendship. In addition, Kenan’s fear stems from his family trouble. He is afraid he is not enough to be a husband and a father. Quinn was not popular when she was young and still not much luck as an adult. Giving up finding the love of her life, she just wants a child, through IVF. But now the relationship with Kenan has changed, she wants more. When Kenan finds out about Quinn’s plan to have a child on her own, he thinks long and hard. He can’t stand Quinn have a child with a stranger. He wants to be the one to make the child with her. Quinn knows Kenan’s family tragedy and his hesitation to have family. She doesn’t want to force him to make the choice. She is wondering if she is enough to make him change his mind. I enjoy the mental tug of war and the attraction between Kenan and Quinn. I also love the family support. I didn’t know until this story that Alaska has year-round ferries on the coast. It sounds so romantic to be on those ferries.

Quinn and Kenan have been friends for most of their lives. They became closer when they both moved back to Fireweed Harbor after working in Seattle. Quinn has decided that she wants a baby and she is going to do the IVF route since she has trouble with dating in a small town. Quinn is on a date with Brad who she met on a dating app and she is trying to figure out a way to leave when Kenan shows up. Quinn escapes her date and Kenan was right behind her. Kenan and Quinn’s friendship changed at one of Kenan’s brother’s wedding. They were close as best friends but now they each feel something more for the other. Kenan suggests that they kiss and make sure it’s not an imaginary thing. The kiss is the best kiss that either has had. Things are strained in their relationship now. Neither knows what to do. Kenan and Quinn have to talk the ferry which is an overnight trip. They end up in Quinn’s cabin on a twin bed where they end up having sex. Kenan finds out about the IVF and Quinn reminds him that he never wanted kids. After being away from each other Kenan has to go find Quinn. He wants to be the one. On another ferry ride Kenan proposes to Quinn. Will Kenan and Quinn work out their issues? Will Kenan decide he wants children? Will Kenan and Quinn find love and happiness out of being best friends to lovers?

"I say it every time I finish a book by this author, and I’m going to say it again - I just loved every single thing about this book.
Kenan and Quinn’s story has to be one of the best friends to lovers romance novels that I have ever read. I liked how they both were hesitant to take their relationship to another level, and the slow burn part of this was truly exceptional to read. I was both wanting them to finally get together but I was also enjoying the push and pull between them both just as much as well.
Both main characters were so well written, and the supporting characters all added so much to this book too.
There is something special about how JH Croix writes her stories. Her characters all end up being people I actually wish were real and I also knew. Her storylines suck me in right from the beginning and I feel like I am right there in the book experiencing everything myself.

Quinn and Kenan have been best friends for some time now, and they've never crossed any lines or wanted to until one day they started seeing each other in a different light. It was like a current was pulling them towards each other, and with those sparks flying, they finally gave in to it to light the sheets on fire. I will say both had hangups about relationships to this point so there were some insecurities they both had as they started this new journey together. Quinn wants a baby, and Kenan always said he didn't want kids so it was hard for her because she was worried she would get hurt and it would hurt the friendship. This story was so sweet, and the supporting cast definitely weighed in more than once which delighted me to no end since everyone thought they were perfect for each other. I loved getting to know these two, and they were hot together but it was more than that, it was two humans finally accepting that they were each other's person so I was left with a big smile on my face after I devoured it in one sitting! What a beautiful story, best friends, afraid to admit what they feel for each other and scared to take that next step! I was hooked from the first page! 5 Fireweed Harbor stars for this one!
Quinn is tired of dating apps, meeting guys who just don't fit what she's looking for. Recently she's started to have feelings for her best friend Kenan, and that's just crazy! She can't go there, she doesn't want to lose what they have! But she wants to start a family, and these losers she keeps meeting just aren't the ones for her!

I say it every time I finish a book by this author, and I’m going to say it again - I just loved every single thing about this book.
Kenan and Quinn’s story has to be one of the best friends to lovers romance novels that I have ever read. I liked how they both were hesitant to take their relationship to another level, and the slow burn part of this was truly exceptional to read. I was both wanting them to finally get together but I was also enjoying the push and pull between them both just as much as well.
Both main characters were so well written, and the supporting characters all added so much to this book too.
There is something special about how JH Croix writes her stories. Her characters all end up being people I actually wish were real and I also knew. Her storylines suck me in right from the beginning and I feel like I am right there in the book experiencing everything myself.
Obviously I cannot recommend this book highly enough and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book released

Who doesn't love an amazing best friends to lovers, slow burn, small town romance. This book had so many of my favorite elements of a book that I knew I had to get my hands on it. Quinn and Kenan have been friends for most of their lives. They both valued their friendship and never looked at the other one in a romantic way until just recently. The problem is that they each want different things in life. Quinn wants a baby more than anything but is not having luck finding Mr. Right and is even willing to do IVF and be a single mom. Kenan had a childhood that made him believe that he would never want a wife and kids. Since Quinn knows how Kenan feels she doesn't even open up to him about what she is going through. Kenan finally realizes that he needs to decide what he wants with his life and he knows that no matter what he wants Quinn to be a part of it.
These two have serious chemistry and you can feel the pull that they have towards each other. I loved all of the supporting characters and really enjoyed the storyline.
A must read book for sure!

This story follows the lives of two characters, Landon and Ava, who have a complicated past. The characters were well-developed and the chemistry between them was sizzling. Landon is a former Navy SEAL who has returned to his hometown to start a new life. Ava is a successful businesswoman who has also returned to Fireweed Harbor to take care of her ailing father. The small-town setting was charming and added to the overall feel of the story. The plot was engaging and kept me interested throughout the book.
The writing was well-done and flowed nicely. The author did a great job of creating tension between the two main characters and building up to their eventual romance. The love scenes were steamy and well-written. The dialogue was realistic and helped to move the story along.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I felt like some parts of the story were a bit predictable. However, this didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.

How will Quinn react when Kenan says he wants to be the father of her baby? Will Kenan and Quinn admit they want the same things; love, family, and forever? I loved Be The One by J.H. Croix! Kenan and Quinn are a great couple with an amazing friendship. Loved the interaction with all the Canon siblings. I would definitely recommend getting Be The One and the other books in the Fireweed Harbor series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

This book is “The One”! It’s so, so good I can’t even tell you! This may actually be one of my very favorite JH Croix books so far. Who doesn’t love a good friends to lovers genre and these two are especially friendly lol. They’re both in denial about their feelings and have justifiable reasons…in their minds. But everyone else can see as plain as the nose on their face that they’re perfect for each other. Quinn has decided she wants to be a mom but doesn’t feel comfortable sharing it with Kenna even though they’re besties because he’s not interested in having kids due to his childhood experiences. Watching these two dance through hoops, the doubts, the ferry rides, the chemistry and finally acceptance was so amazing! I highly recommend this book. I received an ARC and am happily leaving a review.

This was a cute story where friends transitioned from friends to lovers and it was not always roses and rainbows their relationship had some up & downs & twists and turn with a slow-burn romance that turned into a raging fire.
Found this story to be emotional for both Kenan and Quinn, especially with their friendship on the line especially for Quinn because she started a process of something before she and Kenan decided they wanted a relationship with one another that process would be a game changer for both of them.
Overall we enjoyed this small-town romance with friends and family and love. The cast of characters was great and we loved them. The ending for them was perfect as both of them both down to earth kind of people. We loved their banter with one another their chemistry was great and their touching sweet moments together.

Be the One is classic J.H. Croix small town romance. It has an interesting hero and heroine, great secondary characters, a bit of drama, and an emotional romance with a good blend of sweetness and stream.
Friends to more is my favorite trope and I really enjoyed reading Kenan and Quinn’s story. I thought their friendship was nicely established before you start to see their relationship evolve into something more. They had a nice connection to start with and it was easy to see how it grew into a romantic relationship vs just remaining friends.
I really like J.H Croix's writing and storytelling styles, and this series is one of her best yet. It is the third book in the series, but you can read it as a standalone. All the books are great reads and it's fun to see the characters in the other books as well.

Be the One is the third book in the Fireweed Harbor series; you do not need to read the prior books, but I do recommend them. It is easily my favorite in the series to date; I have always loved Kenan.
Kenan and Quinn have been best friends for years, and never considered themselves anything more. Crossing that line was never in the conversation. Quinn is the attorney for the Cannon’s and works with Kenan.
Quinn’s biological clock is ticking, and while she is not looking for a husband, she does want a child. She is looking into surrogacy. Kenan, due to his role models, feels he is not husband material. 'Be the One' is book #3 in the Fireweed Harbor series. It can be read as a standalone but why? so much better when you have the early books behind you. This story as with others by JH Croix has a great storyline, characters you want to befriend and steamy chemistry. I couldn't put this latest book down, I might have an obsession for the Cannon family.

Previously there's been nothing but friendship but lately feeling are changing, but neither wants to cross that line in case it ruins their friendship. One by one the brothers are falling for the one woman they can’t be without and next is Kenan, who doesn’t believe in love and never wants a serious relationship….until Quinn….his best friend. Something has changed with both of them, they both see sparks when looking at each other but both are hesitant to do anything about it, they’re best friends and don’t want to lose the friendship they have built. When the attraction becomes too much and give in, the doubts start creeping in on both sides and it will take trust, honesty and a leap of faith to make it work.
A great read with steam, friends to lovers and great characters. I liked these to, no over the top drama, no other women, honesty between them and a love that grows over time with a great ending.

I loved these two! We first me these two in previous books and I felt like Kenan was a bit oblivious to things. This was such a sweet friends to lovers romance! Both of them very cautious of taking their friendship any further for fear of ruining what they have and for other various other things.
They are opposites in what they want at times.
Another fantastic book by this author! I enjoyed the writing and I found it hard to put down! You get wrapped up in what is happening and I couldn’t wait to see where it went but I also didn’t want it to end! Watching Kenan realise what was right under his nose was good too! Their chemistry was hot! This is an author that I feel can really connect with her characters which means you feel as if you know them, they feel like real people and I love that! I really enjoyed this book and I hope you do too!

Life is complicated and messy
So true! Who ever professes life is perfect or any marriage is perfect isn't telling the truth. Each of us can lay the ground work for a life that's perfect in our minds, but will still need to deal with all the bumps along the way. Each of us can change for the better or worse. It's up to us. No one can make those changes for us or assume we can't make adjustments as our knowledge grows. Kenan and Quinn had to learn this in order to allow all the positives from their close friendship to grow into their beginning of a happy ever after. I really enjoyed this story, I just didn't like the abrupt ending. The epilogue wasn't focused on Quinn and Kenan, rather on Kenan's sister. I also wished there wasn't so many eye waggling! That became distracting. Otherwise, great story. No cheating or cliffhanger. Enjoy 🤓
