They say the line that separates love from hate is thin. So thin in fact that the two almost coexist. Almost.

It’s also been said that when a dude is a jerk to a girl, it’s because, deep down, he wants her. I’m calling bullshit on all of it.

Tate Tracy is about to find out that I’m not the nice boy anymore. Nor am I a forgiving person. She might have been my best friend for eighteen years, but now, she’s no one. And if I have to remind her of that, I will. Even if we’re going to be stuck living in an apartment … together.

The trouble is, I’ve only ever had one weakness in life.

And it’s Tate Tracy.

I normally love a silly little romance book but this one was TOUGH.

It’s giving “I’m not like other girls, I barely wear any makeup, I like space & science and stuff.” “Pick me,choose me, love me”.

I need my girl to have more self respect than that. This boy treated you like absolute garbage, called you so so many names, and basically harassed you. All because his mom died and you dipped out for college???? The bar feels like it has reached a new level of hell and I can’t do it.

Updating this review because whoever is giving this books 4 or 5 starts: ARE YOU OKAY???

Tropes:
- Hockey Romance
- Forced Proximity
- Childhood Friends to Enemies to Lovers
- It’s always been you

Hannah girl did you put crack into these books because I’m addicted! It’s so hard to put this series down! I’m not a huge fan of friends to lovers trope but Link and Tate’s story was beautiful. You also threw in some enemies to lovers and I loved it.

Broken boy was the perfect title for this book because that was link. He was broken. He lost his mom and his best-friend all at once. My heart broke for him. However, I do think he was hard on Tate at times for her choices but he was having a hard time trusting her again. His character development is everything and that ending melted my heart.

Cam still has my heart but here comes Brody and I have a feeling that book is going to be GOOD. Brody has been catching my eye in the last two books so I cannot wait to jump into it.

Although this is the second book in The Puck Boys series, you can easily read this book as a standalone, though you will get minor spoilers from the previous book.

This story follows Link and Tate. They were best friends for most of their lives, but after high school graduation, Tate left for Boston without letting anyone know. It left Link heartbroken and angry. Years later Tate finds herself in an awkward situation and ends up having to room with Link and his roommates. Link is still holding a grudge and tries to make it unbearable for Tate.

Let’s start with Link. I didn’t think I would be able to love any more than Cam but I am totally and utterly obsessed with Link. He is broody, angry and my heart broke for him. He definitely is not one to forgive and forget, but even when he was being not-so-nice, I still couldn't resist him. The little thoughtful things he would secretly do for Tate…SWOON I found myself getting so angry on Tate’s behalf throughout the story. I loved their connection and their story. I could not get enough of these two.

Tropes:
Sports Romance
Second Chance
Forced Proximity
Roommates
Enemies to Lovers

Overall: 5
Spice 3

Childhood friends to lovers, Yes!! But really Tate & her mom really weak & doormat women……

Tate had such potential but com’on why is the heroine always the one to remain faithful & only one sexual partner while Linc was being a hoe all during high school & college

HOLY MOTHER OF ALL THINGS ANGSTY 🙀😱.
I never thought Link would turn out like this but MAN was he mean to Tate! He was deeply hurt by the only girl he ever loved, so he lashed out and BOI wasn’t it pretty!
But I get it, what Tate did, how she dropped him in the worst moment of his life because she was scared? Not cool girl, but it also broke my heart when after 3 years, Link verbally attacks her upon seeing her!
I get that this story might not be for everyone but it CERTAINLY was for me!
If you like:
✨childhood best friends to lovers to enemies to lovers (yup)
🖤it’s always been you
✨forced proximity
🖤I hate you but you’re mine
✨protective MMC
🖤college hockey romance

then this is for you! It’s intense and I LOVED it!

No woman should ever fall to her knees and beg the man to love her back.

This pretty much sums up my feelings.

Also he slept before her with many girls and after her, so wtf???
And yes, he was her first one and no one else reached his holiness.
Give me a break.....

I hate you Link Stern, you do not deserve my bby Tate. I’m sick and tired of authors writing women as weak, Link mistreated Tate and she still waited for him and didn’t date anyone else while was out fucking everyone at Brooks. I love HEA’s in books, but Link was so terrible that I desperately wanted Tate to grow a back bone and leave his ungrateful ass behind. Hunter and Cam WOULD HAVE NEVER treated any girl like Link did.

Lets just go ahead and throw it out there that he shoved a girl in Tate’s face by taking her back to their apartment and planned to have sex with her in the next room. Then, he proceeds to get mad at Brody for comforting her? I also thought it was really fucked up that Link would constantly barge into her room while she was naked and degrade her and not in the fun way. Oh, he also told her that he slept with half of the campus but it didn’t count because each time he did, he closed his eyes and pictured her 🥺. Like you’re fucking with me, right? And when Tate FINALLY was ready to move on and go party, the author pulled the Oliver-r*pist storyline out of her ass just to paint Link as the hero. This plot wasn’t even romantic it was borderline horrific, sexual assault shouldn’t be romanticized.

Apart from the fact that the men in this book aren’t shit (save Brody, Cam, and Hunter), there was no conflict solved. Tate’s deadbeat dad got his happy ending with his other family and Link’s absent father came out of the woodworks out of nowhere in the very last chapter to finally support his son.

Yeah sure, Tate fucked up when she left but her reasons behind her decision are so valid and you would think that her own best friend would try to understand or AT LEAST let her explain.

I am so pissed that they ended up together because I really feel like she deserved better than him, or she should’ve at least let him grovel A LOT.

Tate and Link are magic. Their love and connection is what dreams are made of. It’s what you would call a real fairytale. They fell in love as children. Lost their way then as young college students they are thrown together one despises the other one, one regrets leaving the other. Yet they are both so helplessly in love with each other. They fight it as long as they can then just when you think it’s all going to be okay and love overcomes all…something happens that truly breaks them. Breaks them apart from each other and breaks them in general. Can they fight their way back to each other or is it really and truly over for good this time?
Hannah drags you through the mud then lifts you to the heavens with this read. One min your as high as a kite then next you drowning in your own tears. It’s a real rollercoaster ride so if you like those kinds of books then…you don’t want to miss this one.

I loved this book so much, it has some of my favourite tropes like:
- childhood friends to enemies to lovers.
- hockey romance.
- it´s always been you.

This book follows Tate and Link, they were best friends until Tate left without telling anyone.
In this book we see how they react when they find each other some time later. They broke me and they put me back together, i loved them so much.

**ARC REVIEW**
OMG why have I not read a Hannah Gray book till now!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!

This is book #2 in the "The Puck Boys of Brooks University series" but can be read as a stand-alone. (p.s. I already know I want to read book one!).

If you love these tropes, you are going to love this book!
🏒Sports Romance (Ice Hockey)
🏒Second Chance
🏒Forced Proximity
🏒Roommates
🏒Enemies to Lovers

Both Tate and Link have been best friends and inseparable since Tate moved into the house next door to Link and his family. Tate loves Link but she can't be with him as Link is an aspiring hockey player and she did not want to end up hurt and in a toxic relationship like her mum and dad. Her dad chose his hockey career and the celebrity status over his family. What an a$$hole!

She decides that she is going to Boston after graduation but she wants one night with Link.

One night to pretend she was his and he was hers.

Link on the other hand declares his love for her and even thought he knows it's a bad idea, he still spends the night with her.

Everything changes when he wakes up and finds that she has left without even saying goodbye. Link is broken and filled with so much hate for Tate. She didn't even come back to attend his mum's funeral when he needed her the most.

Now a year later, Tate finds herself going to Brooks University to get a degree in aerospace engineering. She ends up moving into an apartment with two hockey players due to her initial living arrangements falling through. Tate's life is about to get worse when one of the hockey players she will be living with is Link and now she has to live in the room across from his.

Link is so cruel to Tate as soon as he could say anything to her but we all know he is doing this to hurt her as badly as she hurt him. They keep trying to avoid each other in the beginning but that can only last for so long........

Broken Boy was such a beautifully written book that had me laughing and crying and I didn't want to stop reading! I loved that even though Link pretended to hate her, he would still do the sweetest things for her and pretend it was Brody (the other flatmate, aka who gives her the nickname Tater-Tot) who was doing it.

I hope the next book is Brody's story because I loved his personality in this book!!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (I would give it a million stars if I could)
Spicy rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

If you love a hockey romance, make sure it add this beauty to your TBR!!!

Thank you to Hannah and Wordsmith Publicity for kindly sending me this ARC. This review is my own honest opinion on the book!!

“I could be surrounded by a sea of people, all chanting my name, and I’d still look for her.” My heart aches. “Every. Single. Time.”

Once upon a time Tate & Link were bestfriends but ever since Tate left without saying goodbye, when Link was going through something difficult and needed her the most, he hated her. While I liked Link, I couldn't say the same about Tate. She was so confused and on one hand, she said she'll never date hockey players while on the other, she wished to be more than friends with Link. She couldn't make up her mind and I just felt frustrated by her thoughts. Link's character progression was very good and I could actually connect with him. Though the third act breakup in the end could've been avoided, I still enjoyed reading the book. Overall it was a 3.5 star read for me

This is my first novel by Hannah Gray, and most certainly will NOT be my last!

First off…Hannah had such a way of inserting everyday sayings, songs and humor into her writing. From McDonalds fountain Diet Cokes, to songs by Morgan Wallen, to the ole saying “Does a bear $&@! in the woods”. Very refreshing!

Now for the review…

Meet Link, oh complicated treat buying Link, he tragically lost his mom to illness, and as a result lost the dad he once had as he shut out the world. Link poured his heart into hockey and Tate, his best friend. But after years of denying his love for her, he finally confessed. Only to find Tate leaving at a time when he needed her the most.

As a result, he vowed to never forgive Tate….

Now meet Tate, aka Tater tot, estranged daughter to a NHL legend who left his family in shambles. Tate constantly is confronting childhood demons while trying to remain focused while studying to be an aerospace engineer. She captured Link’s heart at a young age and at first sight

Tate made a promise to herself, NOT to date sports players. To avoid enduring unwanted fame and disruption that once plagued her family. But Link is like no other. Her best friend, the guy that always saved her and her one and only love.

The book starts off with finding their way back via forced proximity, sharing an apartment. What can go wrong?! Ha !

These two battle the line of love and hate throughout. You as a reader will endure laugh out loud bantering, steamy sessions, angsty angst, swoony side characters and a slew of miscommunications and untimely misfortunes.

BUT, you get an HEA and in my opinion a beautiful epilogue.

!Check trigger warnings!

Favorite quote: “Tate, I’ve only had two loves in my life. Hockey and you. But I’d walk away from the game right now if it meant you were mine forever.”

- hockey
- best friends to frenemies to lovers
- forced prox
- “won’t date athletes”

When Tate moved in next door to Link they instantly became inseparable best friends. But one night, feelings are confessed and they blur the line of friendship and while one thought it was the beginning of something amazing, the other saw it as a chance to say goodbye. Link woke up the next morning to Tate being gone. She left for Boston earlier than planned without so much as a goodbye. And to make the day even worse…Link learned that his mother’s cancer had returned, and she was dying. Fast forward 3 years, Tate transfers to Brooks University, but Link is not willing to forgive and forget.

Well Hannah Gray, you’ve done it again. I loved this book so much. The characters, the plot, the angst, the spice…fabulous! Plus getting peeks of my boyfriend Cam Hardy was a nice bonus! I really felt for both Link and Tate. They each had been through some tough experiences growing up, with Link’s mom’s cancer and Tate’s dad being well Tate’s dad. I understood the anger behind Link’s actions and his POV showed just how much he was struggling with the fact that he still really cared for Tate despite everything, and it just broke my heart. I also sympathized with Tate and her not being comfortable in the limelight. Overall I really enjoyed this story and will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a hockey, best friends to frenemies to lovers romance!

So far this series and these characters are phenomenal, and I am beyond excited for Brody’s book!

Broken Boy is book 2 in The Puck Boys of Brooks University series. It can be read as a standalone but is best to read in order to get the whole world building.

This is Tate and Link's second chance at love. They were best friends for most of their lives. Tate has an AWFUL father that has made her swear off athletes and of course Link's goal is to make it to the NHL. One Night together sent Tate running. Link was left heartbroken and angry. Years later Tate finds herself in an awkward situation having to room with Link and his roommates. Link is still angry and is straight up rude to Tate. I get that he was hurt but the level of rudeness from Link stopped him from being a book boyfriend BUT I still loved the story.

There is a lot to be revealed in this book. Tate has a lot of family drama to deal with and my heart just breaks for her. I wanted nothing more than for her to tell her father off! When Link starts to be there for Tate during this, they have a shift in their relationship. But there is something that is still bound to keep them apart.

I absolutely loved this enemies to lovers second chance. It was an emotional ride and already know it will be a favorite this month.

If I have one weakness when it comes to fictional heroes, it's a broken boy with a dirty mouth and a chip on his shoulder, and this Broken Boy has all of that and more.

Link and Tate were once best friends, but all that has changed. It doesn't matter that Tate is now Link's new roommate, living just across the hall. He is determined to show her that he's not forgiving and that he's no longer the nice boy that she once knew. There is a very thin line between love and hate though and Link soon finds himself walking along that line.

Now, let me start with Link. From the very beginning of this story, my heart broke for this boy even when he was broody and angry. He definitely is not one to forgive and forget, but even when he was being not-so-nice, I still couldn't resist him. I loved Tate from the beginning too, and I found myself getting so angry on her behalf throughout parts of this story. The frenemies-to-lovers chemistry between these two was perfectly written and I enjoyed every moment of them together.

Although this is the second book in The Puck Boys series, you can easily read this book as a standalone. I haven't yet read book 1, but now that I've had a taste of Brooks University, I'll definitely be catching up. I can't wait for Brody's book next as he's definitely one character that I want to see more of.

Hockey is one of my top sports romances and I'll now be adding this hockey series to my list of favorites.

It’s as if I am reading parallel worlds of the same plot. This book highly resembles Sticks and Stone by S. Massery. Stormy history. Aggressive MMC. Wronged by the FMC. Let’s see where this goes though.

The story is hot and cold with both of them not being able to be without the other. They’re sweet. They grew in personality as young adults especially Tate having to face her dad’s shitty history with his family and the reality that not all men fall in the same basket.

However, and this is a weird thing that I have 😁, I hate it when other women (side characters) are mentioned as goddesses or so beautiful when it is the FMCs story. I meannnn!!!! I want all girls to be beautiful and gorgeous and hot with no exception. Not any one more than the other. Extra beautiful people will get extra attention from other people even if they’re in love. It’s in our nature to appreciate beauty and in the surreal world that I mentally live in all women are equally beautiful. Period.

That said. I loved this story. It’s sweet with its own side of dilemma and the always anticipated HEA. 🩷🩵

While I think I liked this book, the first book is still my favorite.

The story of Link and Tate being friends then enemies then “friends” again, but come on, there's a lot of story to tell between that (I won't give spoilers, but it's good), they meet again at the university since she transfers and for things of life ends up living together, here he hates her (or says he does) for how she left him in the hardest moment of his life; from here they start having confrontations, him against her, and she understands that he's upset, but she also understands that he shouldn't treat her badly.

It was a not-so-light read because of some heavy themes it touches on, and here, as strange as it may seem, I'm on Link's side because there are actions by Tate that didn't quite convince me. The best? We saw a bit of Cam and I loved it! Now the third book of this series will be released in September and I can't wait to read it!

🫂 thanks to Hannah Gray & Wordsmith Publicity for the arc in exchange for my honest review 📚!!

Consigliato!

Hannah Gray is a new to me author, but after Broken Boy I will def be reading more from her. This was full of witty banter, angst, swoon worthy moments, and some damn good spice!

Tate and Link are best friends and inseparable. Graduation night changes everything though, after finally voicing his feelings for her, she leaves without a goodbye. Leaving him angry and heartbroken. He loses his mom & his best friend at almost the same time. When he really needed them the most.
Tate has sworn off of hockey players, being the daughter of one that chose the fame and temptations over his family, she doesnt want that for herself & is happy to live life blending in.

2years later, Tate finds herself in a situation where she needs a room after transferring schools, the only option shes given ends up being in a house of Hockey Players. Link being one of them. He refuses to forgive Tate for leaving so tries to make life hard for her. Even with all the hatred he has though, his love for Tate was obvious. The little things he did ‘secretly’, I swooned hard. As angry as he was, he still cared deeply for Tate.

I loved that although this is a love story of them reconnecting, it also covered healing, finding themselves and their strengths. As well as other things but - no spoilers. This kept me reading ‘one more chapter’, I couldnt put it down. The side characters were fantastic, if Brodys book is next then I will be first in line for it. He was something else! And the snippets of Cam (book 1s MMC) makes me want to read his book.

If you love Hockey romance or friends-enemies-lovers then I highly recommend you pick this up!

Honest here- I was so feral for Brody it was hard to concentrate on Link. I liked him and Tate, I liked the forced proximity and just how you could just feel the love/hate relationship from these two that stemmed so far back. I loved how the graduation night debacle framed their view of themselves and their capacity for relationships moving forward, as many experiences at 18 years old does for us in real life.

I just couldn't get over Brody. I kept wondering what he was doing and who he was doing it with and my mind was going wild the whole time, so I just felt distracted. I think I would have liked Link more if the stories were not so interconnected and I felt like he had time to breathe into his own story. I also didn't like how overly heavy the trauma/topics felt at times in this book. I needed a bit more levity throughout to keep me engaged.

Overall, I do really like this series. I am getting used to the author's voice a bit more and have been able to immerse into the stories. I think they flow well (outside of the ever changing POV) and the stories and timelines are consistent and fun to read.

This series is just so good and this was no exception!!

This starts off with us finding out Link’s mom has passed away and it was the same time that Tate had walked away from their friendship. She had grown up with a pro hockey player dad who honestly was a piece of shit LMAO. And she didn’t want to put herself in a place to get hurt again by another man who plays hockey.

Flash forward years later in college — Tate has returned to Brooks from being out of state and she ends up landing a room in Link’s apartment. LET ME TELL U, the HATE and passion between these two was phenomenal. He was so mean sometimes (I know I would have cried everyday) 😂

But with them being in forced proximity along with the passion between them — WAS SO GOOD. Link was such a softie for her even when he hated her, that is what did me in lmao. This series is sooooo good!

what you can expect:
- childhood friends to enemies to lovers (new fav omg)
- strooooooong hate towards each other
- college hockey
- amazing friend group
- always been you
- protective hero (and friends)
- puck boy cameos !!
- spice that HIT 😮‍💨

Link & Tate

I love and good friends to enemies to lovers story and then add in forced proximity and I’m in. Link and Tate were best friends for years until they weren’t and now are strangers pushed back together by fate. I’m glad this didn’t turn into a bully romance but there certainly was nothing held back when these two reunited. They battled to stay away from one another and when they had those briefly break throughs, they were spicy. There were just so many layers to the story that worked well together.

Tate had some serious insecurities and fear to work through but so did Link after his mom’s death. I’m convinced a lot of his anger was really grief of losing his mom and Tate at the same time. Then you layer in some serious situations like Oliver and Tate’s dad and you get the perfect triggers for Link’s protective and possessive side which was phenomenally HOT.

I loved getting to know Brody more in this story. I loved his friendship with both Tate and Link. I’m so ready for his book next!

I absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down after starting to read it, and may have finished it within 24hrs haha
I was sucked into the book right from the start. It was different than most of the other hockey player books in the sense that this wasn't two people that met, fell in love, broke up, and got back together for their happier ever after. In this book Tate and Link grew up together and were best friends. With Tate coming from a sports family, dad played in the NHL, she had sworn off dating any athletes. That may be difficult when she falls in love with her hockey playing neighbor. After a falling out, Link pours his heart out to her admitting he's in love with her and her leaving the next day out of the city, their paths cross once again after a mishap leaves them being roommates. Their love life is that of love masked by hatred. There is so much back and forth of letting their guards down at opposite times. I was drawn into their love story and all the sad parts. Would 10 out of 10 recommend this book.

4.5 ⭐️s!

Hannah, MY GAL, idk what you put in this hockey romance series but i am absolutely FERAL for these men. I am not typically a friends to lovers gal, but friends to enemies to lovers… sign me the heck up.

I loved Tate and Links story, not as much as Cam and Addison, but still the drama between link and tate was top tier. I mean i physically felt the pain during some of the arguments with them trying to hurt each other… this book was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least.

Brody and Tate’s friendship was an adorable addition to this story. I loved their brother/sister dynamic and how easily they got along. When he kept saying broken people get each other, ugh i just know his story is gonna be so good.

I love this series, loved this story, love these characters.

-College Hockey Romance
-Forced Proximity
-childhood friends to enemies to lovers
-it’s always been you

Finally getting around to finishing this series in time for the next release in January. Link and Tate were best friends and neighbors since they were 12. Link’s one goal in life is to become a star hockey player and go to the NHL. Tate is his best friend, his safe place. But her father is in the NHL and has mistreated his whole family due to his fame and fortune as a professional hockey player. Tate fears that if she lets herself live a life with Link, she will eventually get mistreated just like her father did to her. So, Tate leaves town abruptly after an intimate night that they shared and leaves Link alone, dealing with a sickness in his family.

Now, it’s 2 years later and Tate transfers to Brooks University, where Link plays hockey. Problem is, the only place she can find to stay is the extra bedroom in Links hockey house. And he can’t stand the sight of her since she left.

I really enjoyed this one. I think that a lot of things Link had said were a bit intense and not sure if I could forgive him for that, but you could see and feel his hurt and pain from her leaving.
