We are thrilled to announce that two talented young scientists, Tara Rolic and Monica Dugaesescu, will be representing the vision of medical biology in Europe at the "BiomedJ" conference in Paris in May . They will be part of an international session on "Laboratory Medicine Across Continents." Representing the EFLM, they will also be sharing and comparing their vision with that of speakers from other continents. 🎉 New EFLM Tool: APS Calculator! 🧮 We are happy to announce a practical and user-friendly tool for laboratory professionals to determine analytical performance specifications (APS) for measurement uncertainty (MU). 🔍 Why the APS Calculator? The increasing focus on patient-centered care in clinical laboratories emphasizes the need for outcome-based APS that align with clinical use and patient care impact. How does the APS Calculator work? 1️⃣ Categorization: Original data are classified based on clinical decision limits. 2️⃣ Simulation: Measured values are simulated by introducing relative standard MU to the original data. 3️⃣ Recategorization: Simulated values are re-categorized using clinical limits to evaluate agreement. 🔗 The calculator identifies minimum, desirable, and optimal APS levels tailored to clinical requirements. 🌟 This tool marks a significant advancement in defining APS based on indirect clinical outcomes with a flexible, data-driven approach. ➡️ Try the APS Calculator:
