Are Democrats & Mainstream Media Shifting From Wind To Nuclear?

Last Friday, Microsoft Bing included this article in its daily top headline news summary:

Nuclear Energy Can Be Key To Our Clean Energy Future — If Not For Outdated Regulations | The Messenger — American Conservation Coalition (acc.eco)

For more than thirty years, the mainstream media usually reported only negative stories and opinions about nuclear power. During the past fifteen years, Democrats, the mainstream media, and the Hollywood/TV pop culture all promoted “renewable” wind and solar power as the only alternative to fossil fuels.

France began building nuclear power plants throughout the country in the 1980’s.  today, roughly 72% of all electricity in France is produced from nuclear reactors.

In the 1970s, America was also planning to use nuclear power to produce most of our electricity. However, in 1979, there was an accident at a nuclear power plant at Three Mile Island, near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. One person inside the plant died and several were injured.  There were no deaths or injuries outside the plant.  There have been no other accidents at any nuclear power plant in America. During the past 44 years, nuclear power plants have had far fewer accidents and caused far fewer deaths and injuries that coal, oil, and natural gas power sources.

Shortly after the 1979 accident in Pennsylvania, the Hollywood movie The China Syndrome starring Jack Lemmon, Jane Fonda, and Michael Douglas was produced and released.  That movie dramatized the dangers of nuclear power and implied that big business and government were putting profits over safety.  The movie instantly became a box office success.

The Pennsylvania accident and the Hollywood movie both created widespread opposition to nuclear power that has continued until today. Because of this not a single new nuclear plant was built from scratch in the United States since 1979. Because of this, only about 18% of America’s electricity comes from nuclear power. That may be changing. Last week, America’s first nuclear power plant since  1979 went into operation near Augusta, Georgia.

One small nuclear power plant can supply more reliable, clean, carbon free, electricity than all 1,500 wind turbines  now planned to be built in the ocean near New Jersey’s beaches.

Usually, Microsoft Bing daily news summaries only include a half dozen articles that promote the “woke” agenda of the Democratic Party.  Why did Microsoft Bing include an article last week promoting nuclear energy as the best option for reliable, affordable “clean” carbon free electricity?  Are Democrats and their media shifting away from ocean wind turbines and promoting nuclear power instead?
