With the name Holliday, you’d think I’d be all about the Christmas season. Most years, I am, but this one not so much. Between my ex being a real Scrooge-in-the-backside, re-entering the workforce, wrangling my two children, and evading my eight-year-old’s questions about Santa’s existence, I’m struggling to believe in the magic myself.

Enter Nick, my next-door neighbor. My very hot, single, fireman neighbor. He’s full of the seasonal spirit from hanging my outdoor Christmas lights to playing Santa for the local church breakfast.

Funny thing about Nick, he kind of resembles the man in red, in a younger, sexier, silver fox way, complete with snow in his beard but rather tight abs suggesting cookies are not part of his diet when they are a staple of mine.

Anywho, he’s sweet in a rugged sense, and if he were the man making a list and checking it twice, I’d like to be in his naughty column. Because something tells me being a little naughty-ish with Nick from next door might bring me tidings of comfort and restore my joy in this season.

When he discovers I have a seasonal list myself, he’s determined to help me accomplish all the to-dos, only falling in love with my next-door neighbor wasn’t one of them.

Holiday is working a job she dislikes and worries about being a good mother, being able to pay the rent and how to buy the Christmas presents he ex husband promised their kids. She appreciates the things Nick does for her and the fact that he takes time for her son and daughter but she doesn’t think he feels anything for her as a woman. Until he gives her a gift and tells her to open it when she is alone. This may be my favorite part. This has just enough heat to keep things interesting without going on so long I start paging through.I could connect with the characters so well I could see the story playing out in my mind. I recommend this Christmas story that will leave you with a sigh and a smile on your face/

    I so enjoyed the story of Nick and Holliday. She is having her first Christmas after divorcing her ex for cheating on her. She moves from the burbs to the city and lives next door to Nick, the hot silver fox fireman. He loves her kids, spends time with them, is patient with her kids, much better with the children than their dad. I mean how could she not fall in love with him. He falls for her because she sees him. Not his family and she does things for him, acts of kindness. Plus he calls her his hot neighbor.

    Holiday Traditions! Some have grown up with you, some are new as your family grows from marriage to having children. Some can make you sad and starting new ones are growth/change traditions and there is nothing wrong with that.

    Holliday (yup) is in the changing traditions part of her life. Her marriage has ended, she is in a new house with her cute kids Eloise (8 yrs old) and Nash (5 yrs old) and lets just say, Deck the Halls may not be so jolly this year.

    Enter Santa Fireman Nick….he is a year round Elf! He will volunteer for just about every and anything…yup..he is not ever going to be on a Naughty list. From cutting grass, to having heart to hearts with Nash when Holliday isn’t looking. Oh that wonderful Fireman/Elf!

    Now don’t’ tell anyone, but honestly I think Nick and that crazy elf inside her house have a pact to make Holliday and the kids start some new Christmas traditions, the ones that will open hearts and emotions for everyone.

    I’ve given it some thought and Nick (is the real Santa Claus). He will make you laugh, he will make you smile and he will make Holliday think that she is worth the world to her children and you guessed it ~ to him as well.

    Author L. B. Dunbar has given readers a quick but beautiful read that takes place around the holiday season and gives us hopes that no one gets coal this year. The ultimate goal is for Nick to get what he’s wanted for about six months. His hot neighbor and her kids to become part of his family and make their own new traditions.

    Yes, the holidays can be difficult for many reasons, but this year the holidays have help and if a hot fireman can’t help, I don’t know who else can!
