Seattle Phantom wide receiver, Tobias Westfield loves nothing more than to get under Scarlett’s skin. When he’s enlisted to come to her rescue, she begins to see underneath the coçky exterior he presents to the world.

With roles reversed and Spitfire coming to his aid, they find themselves unable to deny the intense connection that was once fueled by loathing.

Maggie Rawdon was new-to-me just a few months ago. She’s become a one-click author because her books literally get better with each one I read. These two were my favorite so far.

Amazing!

Every book I've read by Maggie has been wonderful! Tobias and Scarlett were fantastic! I loved their romance and how they got together. One-night stand? How about more than a one-night stand? Yes! Tobias is so possessive, swoonworthy, and in love with Scarlett. I love how his feelings for Scarlett grew once he realized she was different than his typical one-nighters. He had "real" feelings for her. He knew she was different. Made for him.
Scarlett is headstrong, she knows what she wants out of life, and is a very loyal and loving friend. I would love to be besties with her.
I love the push and pull between these two. It was so fun to watch. Their chemistry was insanely amazing!
This book was written well and kept me hooked until the very end. I loved the bonus epilogue. It was so beautiful!

I can confirm- Tobias Westfield does not disappoint! He lived up to the hype and then some!

We’ve met Tobias in both Maggie’s college series and the previous books in this pro football series and so I thought I had a good idea of what his character was like, but it’s actually much deeper than my first impressions- there’s more to him than meets the eye for sure.
He and Scarlett meet because their best friends (Alex and Harper) are together and they mostly bicker, but when Scarlett needs rescuing on her 30th birthday Tobias doesn’t hesitate to step in.
The first third of this book happens prior to the ending in Over Time so we get to see some background of what’s been going on with Tobias and Scarlett before things take a nasty turn. Then it’s Scarlett who steps up to help.

I loved the push and pull between them, and loved seeing Scarlett chip away at Tobias’s walls. He fell so hard and definitely had me swooning just like his brother Easton did in his book!

What a fantastic end to this series. I loved seeing lots of Alex and Harper again, and Wild Card is pretty much tied with Pick Six for my favourite Maggie Rawdon book so far.

Huge thank you to the author for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was my MOST ANTICIPATED read of the year & let me tell you… Maggie freaking delievered. 👏🏼

Wild Card is book 3 in the Seattle Phantom Series following Tobias & Scarlett. Tobias is the infamous playboy on Seattle’s NFL team & Scarlett is his best friend’s girlfriend’s best friend & the one girl who seems to be immune to his charm. Except when he ends up rescuing her from an embarrassing situation, the last thing he expects is for them to hook up. But not long after he gets himself into quite a bit of trouble & ends up needing Scarlett’s help & lucky for them both, she desperately needs a job. So what happens when the girl who was just supposed to be a one night stand starts to get under his skin & into his heart?

I knew after reading Easton’s story that I was going to love Tobias & now I would say that’s an understatement. I’m obsessed. With that said, I’m claiming Tobias as my book husband 😏 I love that man with my whole heart. There’s just something about those Westfield brothers 😮‍💨 If you love the reformed playboy, boy obsessed tropes, you will love this book! This was such a good opposites attract love story. The connection between Tobias & Scarlett was unmatched… emotionally, mentally, sexually, etc. they were just so perfect & really balanced each other out.

I’m so sad that this series has come to an end. I have loved every second of the Seattle Phantom & the Play’s & Penalties Series. I will miss these characters so much already but can’t wait to see what else Maggie has in store for us with her next series & her hockey RH coming up 👏🏼

The way that I impatiently waited to get my hands on this book was borderline embarrassing for me. I discovered Maggie not too long ago and she quickly became an auto buy author for me. I just love her writing so much. She is one of those authors that you can easily get sucked into the world that she builds, blink, and realize that you've read almost an entire book without meaning too. All adult responsibilities cease to exsist.

When Tobias was introduced during Pick Six, I quickly asked Maggie if he was getting a book. He was the totally a-hole playboy but something drew me to him. I could just tell that there was so much beneath his surface and I was DYING for his story! And let me tell you, Tobias and Scarlett are my FAVORITE Seattle Phantom couple. Watching them fall for each other was nothing short of perfection. I absolutely loved every second of it and am so sad that it's over.

Did I mention that she write INCREDIBLE SPICE? Holy hell! So hot! 10/10 you must drop everything to read Maggie! IMMEDIATELY!

Tobias Westfield is everything I needed him to be. The last of his crew to even think about settling down, he falls hard for Scarlett and does a complete turn around. And my God the bedroom chemistry (or elevator, or office space, or bar, or stairwell… you get the drift 😏) is immaculate.

When Scarlett’s 30th birthday goes totally wrong, Tobias steps in and saves the day, leading to a one night only agreement between the two… but it doesn’t stay that way for long. Then when Tobias is in a motorcycle accident, Scarlett is the one to take care of him. The two realize the physical attraction actually goes much deeper; Scarlett learns Tobias is kind, intelligent, and passionate, and he realizes Scarlett is there for him in ways no one else has been.

I loved everything about Wild Card! Great plot, character development, and did I mention the spice 🥵. And we got to see all the guys from Plays and Penalties in addition to Xander, Colt, and Tobias. Can’t wait to see what Maggie has for us next!

4.5 STARS
I adore enemies to lovers and great banter, this book is overflowing with both along with a Ghost Pepper spice level that is decadently naughty!
Tobias has a big personality, he seems extremely confident with a side of cockiness. He’s a no relationship kind of guy and seems like he’s living life to the fullest as an NFL “bad boy”.
Scarlett works at a museum, she has the hot, nerdy and smart thing going for. She feels a bit like she doesn’t fit in completely with her friends who are dating or married to NFL players.
Scarlett and Tobias have a relationship full of snarky quips and heated banter. It hints at their attraction and intelligence in my opinion and I loved it.
They keep getting thrown together in situations because of their mutual friends, and maybe they have a one night stand or more…..
The sex is next level naughty and a complete smoke show. Their conversation’s are entertaining and quick witted. I love the pair and their chemistry ends up not being the only amazing thing about them.
While it is a spice heavy story there are absolutely swoon worthy gestures, a great emotional connection between them and serious situations that they prove themselves to be really good people.
I love Scarlett’s secret bolder side so much. It matches with Tobias’ larger than life personality. Tobias is over the top in generous, yet understated ways that made me fall head over heels for him.
I loved Tobias’ emotional growth and big win in his personal life at the end. Scarlett didn’t have as much backstory or emotional issues that were shown. I would have liked a little more from her. I still adored her and the story.
I enjoyed this sports romance so much and I love the familiar secondary characters from previous books and series.
This is an interconnected standalone, I advise you read the previous two books in this series. They are all 4.5-5 STARS from me.
Another touchdown from this talented author.

Just when I was going through withdrawals and needing my fix of one of Maggie Rawdon’s talented football stars, and the sassy women who steal their hearts…Tobias Westfield arrived to save the day.

Tobias is everyone’s favorite party guy, always up for a good time, and throwing bashes whose attendees require a week away from work in order to sleep them off.
It takes Scarlett, a sultry museum curator and part-time podcaster,to see his sweet and generous nature at work.
After Tobias rescues Scarlett from a scrape involving a former coworker, and a double date-gone-wrong, these two find out that their banter and constant irritation, with one another translates to sizzling chemistry between the sheets, a stairway, and even a library…

I love their chemistry.
I love their support of one another, in both their personal, and professional lives.
These characters are perfect for one another, and I just cannot get enough of them.

In keeping with tradition, we are treated to cameos from all supporting characters in the series, and the camaraderie and deep, abiding friendships they all share provides both a sense of satisfaction, and nostalgia, as with all of Maggie’s books.
I am very much looking forward to her next installment of the series.
Perhaps with Easton and Tobias’ sister Madison as our hell-raising heroine….

I've had quite a ride with Scarlett and Tobias. It started so well. I felt that spark, and I liked both Scarlett and Tobias. The way he stepped in and was there for her, he really made me soft for him. Then the accident happened, and everything got downhill from there. The characters changed their dynamics, and Tobias was really ruthless at times. Also, there was a voice in my head that kept telling me that some things just don't make sense or are unnecessary. The force proximity was really forced, plot-wise.

But the thing that got to me the most is that there was no believable emotion connection whatsoever. Yes, there was physical intimacy, but nothing more than that, in my opinion, especially after the first quarter of the book.

This was definitely a miss for me, and it really pains me because I liked all the books I have read from Maggie Rawdon before and her style.

Can we take a minute to appreciate Tobias? He was the whole package and more, and I fell hard for him; he is my favorite.

Scarlett and Tobias were FIRE! They had push and pull, and I loved that Scarlett could peel back his layers. These two were the whole package for me; they had chemistry and, oh, the banter. I just ate it up, and let's not forget the spice because Maggie brings the heat.

I love Maggie's writing and can't wait to read Lords of Misrule.

You take a chance on a new-to-you author, and sometimes it pays off and you become a fan for life. I just wish this one had paid off a little more to push it higher than a 3.5 star read for me. The story has good bones and the writing is polished, but there are some things I just couldn’t get behind. But first, the positives.

I love a sports romance that shows some game time and the camaraderie between teammates. This one has that in spades, and it's very well done. I love the gal pals and how they support each other, and I loved Scarlett's character, although I thought she got taken advantage of at times. And the fact that a player reforms and gets the nerdy girl, well who wouldn’t love that?

From here on out, it's spoilers, so stop reading if you don’t want to see them.

There was some storyline amidst the prodigious mattress gymnastics, but the majority of the focus seemed to be on the physical relationship. Because of this, I didn’t feel the emotional component between the two MCs. I didn’t love the way Tobias treated Scarlett for good part of the book. I get he had his issues from his dad, the video, and his wreck, but it came off as heartless and unsympathetic, like he was the only one in the relationship who mattered. And him “allowing" her to go on dates when they were already a thing was weird and discomforting.

This wouldn’t be the first sports romance I would recommend, but it's still a fun story and decent escape from the real world for a few hours.

- spicy tension

I ate this book up. I read this book in under 24 hours. Something about a sports romance by Maggie Rawdon just gets me out of a book slump.

This was a spicy, fun, low stakes romance and I highly recommend.

This type of story is just always going to do it for me lol

- hockey romance
- childhood best friends
- it was always her
- bad boy mmc
- curvy fmc
- exhibitionism

The way this man was gone for her. I will never recover. Love this low-stakes type of romance!

Gah this book was so freaking good. Maggie has once again stolen my heart with the sweetest man with a nasty as heck mouth 🥵 Tobias was everything and more 🫠 Just when I thought I couldn’t love anymore more than Colt here comes Tobias Westfield 😍 I’m felt so bad for him and what he had to endure. I absolutely loved Scarlett. She excepted Tobias for who he was. There was so many funny scenes in here and so many swoon worthy scenes. I couldn’t get enough of this book. I also loved how we got to see some of the characters from the plays and penalties series. This book is definitely a must read 10 out of 10!!

If You Are A Sports Romance Fan .. Add Maggie Rawdon to AutoRead

This book will make you swoon , will make you sweat , will make you laugh at the banter between Tobias and Scarlett, and make you cry.
WildCard logs in as my fave Football Romance of 2023.
It needs to be said that it is my first Maggie Rawdon read and I will be going back and reading the rest of this series and anything else she writes. I loved the character development of Tobias Westfield.
Playboy NFL great, cocky and egotistical and just enough of a bad boy to go riding his bike without a helmet. He is legacy football his brother and father as a NFL coach he has a lot on the line , then walks in Scarlett. His accident was a wake up call in more ways than one .
The steam 🌶🌶🌶🌶👨‍🍳💋. I just couldnt get enough of his dirty talk .
I loved that he fell first , and loved Scarlett coming and taking care of him through rehab after his motorcycle accident . I loved the reaction Madison had when answering the door meeting her for the first time and how they instantly clicked.
But the best thing , the necklace he got her ..his last name in Morse code.
Best scene ..the library scene because what girl cant resist a man with a library room.
The man was perfect ..and typing this out I realized I couldnt give it anything but 5 stars .
I hope we get to see more of this couple in a future book

This pains me deeply to have to say this, but DNF at 30%.
I tried to read this for 2 weeks, stopping and reading 3 other books in between just desperate to connect with it since I’ve loved Maggie’s work. But today, I wave the white flag in surrender as I attempted to read FMC waking up at 3 AM exhausted and feeling her 30 years but deciding “Hey we should do a multi-angle sex tape and I’ll tilt the phone against my face to start.” Why this struck me as so dumb I laughed, I have no idea, but I couldn’t stop laughing and the vibe was dead from there.

I just feel like people (I’m 33) in their thirties would be smarter than to leak their sex tapes. I don’t have a problem with filming yourselves if it’s what you’re into, but I do have a problem with you not being smart enough to be discrete. I don’t think it’s sexy to get so carried away you forget about protecting FMC and yourself from undue harm emotionally/financially/physically. Especially a professional athlete with sponsorships to protect. I don’t even know if it gets leaked or not, but I feel like that’s the obvious trope here.

I loved Maggie’s Plays and Penalties series where we first met Tobias (and my number 1 book Husband Easton Westfield), and I have waited for his story for SO LONG!!! Only to find out he is totally shallow with no hidden emotional depths. I read romance to get perfect, emotional/emotionally intelligent men with hidden depths. I’m not saying I don’t love a himbo—because I SO do—but he’s not dumb, just emotionless. I’m also put off by the way he describes her. He is not going to refer to boobs and gut as “curves”. I’m just saying.

Tobias and Scarlett seem to have no chemistry, and there are no real emotions happening here for me. I’ve read some other reviews trying to get an idea if it was going to improve and saw a review that said Tobias rages at her at one point and she just takes it and doesn’t set any boundaries with him so I won’t be continuing on. No weak FMCs allowed in my universe.

WOW!!! Maggie has done it again. Wild Card is the 3rd book in her Seattle Phantom’s football series and this one is hands down my favorite.

This book follows Tobias and Scarlett. Tobias is the team’s infamous playboy and Scarlett is his BFF’s GF’s BFF. (tongue twister) She is not his biggest fan, but after saving her in a situation they end up in a one night only agreement. However, when Tobias is in a motorcycle accident, Scarlett is the one that’s able to take care of him. The two realize there is more than just a physical attraction. Scarlett learns Tobias is kind, intelligent, and closet nerd, and he realizes Scarlett shows up for him in ways no one else has.

I love Scarlett’s secret bolder side so much. She is the perfect match to Tobias’ larger than life personality.
Tobias is over the top in generous, yet understated ways that made me fall head over heels for him. He literally had me giggling and kicking my feet with how damn swoony he was. I loved Tobias’ emotional growth and big win in his personal life at the end. Plus that man is sex on stick…PHEW! I am absolutely obsessed with him and he is def a top 5, if not, TOP book man ever!
Their chemistry and banter were off the charts. I loved the push and pull between them, and loved seeing Scarlett chip away at Tobias’s walls. He fell so hard!!! The tension and spice that Maggie always brings was next level in this one.

I cannot get enough of this book or Maggie’s writing. I highly recommend this one or any of Maggie’s books. She can write tension and spice like no other!!
This one was just absolute perfection for me. I cannot wait to see what Maggie brings us next!

Wild Card is my new favorite book by Maggie Rawdon? OF COURSE! and after the end of Overtime I didn't even want to think about what was going to happen with Tobias & Scarlett 😫, but as usual, Maggie doesn't disappoint with her characters, their plot, every moment she gives us between these two and the return of the characters who stole my heart since my adventure with this author began.

Scarlett is, without a doubt, my favorite Seattle Phantom Football heroine! Her kind and a little shy personality was something we saw from the beginning of the series, as well as her hatred for Tobias, BUT in this book Maggie surprised me with a Scarlette who has a daring side, who is not afraid to ask for what she wants and is more than willing to start her 30s in a different way. I also loved learning more about her love for history, art and football, that little story about her first meeting with Tobias and the relationship she has with her family, especially her dad.

Tobias is a character we met in Personal Foul, that I was dying to read and for which the author made us wait, but I think it was the best choice to close the series with. Tobias has the image of a womanizer, party animal and coky in the Seattle Phantom team, however, like Scarlett, and not so hidden, he has a very sweet, tender, adorable and beautiful side that ALWAYS shows when he's with her, even when things are not going well in his life and things get ugly for Tobias: from the complicated relationship he has with his dad and how irritating that man can be, to the exposure of his privacy to the press and the bad decisions he makes because of that, something that made me angry and broke my heart, but that served to see a vulnerable, insecure man who is capable of facing his problems to get what he wants.

I LOVED Tobias & Scarlette as individual characters, but also as a couple. These two have great chemistry from their first interaction, when Tobias saves Scarlett from more than one embarrassing situation on her birthday and the night ends in the best possible way for both of them. After that, things between these characters are too adorable, a little complicated, and very funny because the banter between them never ends, plus, I loved reading them both trusting each other, the unconditional support that Scarlette offers Tobias in the hardest moment, but without letting his bad mood about the situation get the worst of her as well, and the way in which Tobias decides to grow up, lose the fear of fighting for the life he wants and look for what he needs with her.

4 stars!

A fun and spicy enemies-to-lovers sports romance full of snark and chemistry, with a sexy, slow-building love story. This is a great read, and I loved it!

This is the third book in the Seattle Phantom Football series. Tobias and Scarlett have both appeared in earlier books of the series (and Tobias in the Plays & Penalties series), and there is quite a bit of character crossover, but you could read this one as a standalone.

Tobias is a loud and fun-loving NFL player. He’s lively and playful, and a bit of a player, tending to avoid relationships or serious commitment. Scarlett is a quiet museum curator who is looking for love after watching all of her friends settle down. They met through their mutual best friends (Alex and Harper, from Pick Six), and while Tobias takes great pleasure in antagonising Scarlett at every opportunity, she wants nothing to do with him.

I’m fairly certain she thinks I’m a dumb jock with shit for brains and the fact that she still imagines riding me probably gives her existential rage. The kind that could be channeled into the kind of hate fucking I’d die for.

Their ‘relationship’ is purely insults and snarky banter, but when Scarlett needs rescuing during an awkward romantic set-up, Tobias comes to her rescue, and they end up having a one night stand which rocks both of their worlds. They agree that they don’t want to pursue anything romantic, but they also agree that one night is not enough. So they start secretly hooking up, and oh holy damn, it’s SO freaking sexy! These two are FIRE together, both a little wild, and their connection absolutely sizzles.

“This was just supposed to be a weird friendly-banter-tension thing between us. It was working pretty well. Now we’ve fucked it all up.”

Things take a turn when Tobias is badly injured in an accident, and Scarlett steps in to help care for him. They see a whole new side to each other as Tobias struggles physically and mentally with his injuries, and Scarlett’s nurturing side comes out as she is there for him in ways neither of them allowed in the past. And with them both wide open emotionally, they truly get to know each other. They actually have a lot in common, and Tobias, in particular, has a much deeper side that Scarlett (and I) really enjoyed getting to see. And pretty soon, everything starts to change.

I want to earn her. Deserve her. … She isn’t broken like I am, clawing her way back to something even approaching normal. She’s fucking sweet and perfect. So thoughtful and smart. Everything I’ve ever thought I wanted … Fuck, I want a shot at something with her.

This man is going to be my undoing. There’s very little chance at this point, I don’t fall for him if I haven’t lost myself already to it. But I don’t care.

There’s some push and pull between them, but it’s entertaining rather than angsty, and I loved watching these two fall so hard and so completely for each other. We get to see lots of together time, which I love in a romance, their physical connection continues to be out of control hot ,and the swooniness of it all was a great surprise.

“You’re perfect. Frighteningly so.” Her fingertips run along my jaw, over the now fading scar the accident left on my face.
“Even scarred?”
“Scarred. Broken. Whatever you are. I don’t care. I’m here and I want it.”

“I love you, Scarlett. A maddening fucking amount if we’re being honest.”

Their close circle of friends are a part of the action, and I enjoyed seeing them all again. This group has a fun dynamic, and so much fun to read about.

This is a fun, sexy, gorgeously romantic read. I loved it. 4 stars.

Tobias Westfield 🥵 I have been craving his book since I got that first glimpse of him in Easton's book, Personal Foul, then to have his connection with Scarlett teased in both Pick Six and Overtime... well the wait was freaking worth it!! Wild Card is everything I could have wanted and more!

You can certainly enjoy Tobias and Scarlett on their own but trust me when I say that their story is SO so good when you've lived though the build up in their friends books.

Wild Card is perfect for anyone that wants:
💜 Frenemies to Lovers
💜 The Quiet Nerd and the Bad Boy Football Star
💜 ONS turned a little more
💜 Low on Drama but BIG on Spice

I am in love with this book. I literally devoured it in one sitting- like ignore all my adult responsibilities and family all day kind of read. Tobias and Scarlett are AMAZING together. They had this really fun push-pull kind of relationship since the beginning and I just knew something was brewing between them with the way Tobias teased Scarlett and her reactions to him. Scarlett is that good girl- little quiet and perhaps on the mousy side and basically everything that Tobias Westfield is not. Tobias is a big personality- he's the life of the party and is known to be a bit reckless at times. Basically complete opposites- that is until you get these two behind closed doors and surprisingly enough they are much more alike that they thought.

Tobias and Scarlett are insanely sexy together. Like don't peek at my book over my shoulder because we both will be blushing kind of sexy perfection. If you read Overtime, then you know that Tobias' accident had already happened- but I really loved the way that Maggie actually spent almost the first half of this book building this kind of BTS relationship between these two before bringing the accident in and forcing these two together for the first time really in the eyes of their friends. It made this rollercoaster of emotions and feelings real for me and the characters. The growth of both characters in the course of this book was phenomenal- Scarlett gained confidence in both herself and her sexuality while Tobias could let her peek behind the walls and see the nerdy side of him and the side that was scared of romance and relationships but found a reason to try. And my lord that man busted out some romance on my girl one moment then turned around and threw some spice on it in the next!

I LOVE love LOVE that there isn't this big third act heartbreak- as a romance reader, it's almost expected as that's part of the basic formula in getting to the HEA but I think sometimes when a story is already hitting it out of the park with the connection, emotion, and the heat is on point adding that big dramatic break can feel disingenuous to the journey of the characters- which in this case would have been 100% the case.

While I loved essentially every thing about this book, the worst part of it was when it ended! I hope this isn't the end for the Phantom guys, maybe there is a love connection brewing between Tobias' sister and one of his teammates- you know, just one that isn't already taken 😉

As far as sports romances go, when I’m looking for story, spice, banter - it’s Maggie Rawdon. This was the last in the Seattle Phantoms series and Tobias & Scarlett were everything. This story of the football bad boy falling for the museum curator, while dealing with a potential public scandal and recovering from an injury was an easy, sexy, fun read.

✨Forced Proximity
✨Frenemies to Lovers
✨“Only one night”

There’s something refreshing about reading characters in their 20s/30s with great banter and who are comfortable in their sexuality. These two ever minced words about each other and it was hilarious, at times sweet, and super hot.

Scarlett was perfect as a vintage-wearing curator, all business until she meets Tobias & lets herself more openly talk about the things she wants from him. She was funny, smart, a great friend, and not shy about her needs or wants. She wasn’t a wallflower and held her own in any situation.

Tobias was a perfect mixture between cocky, sweet, and incredibly hot. Also open about what he wants and doesn’t (though, surprise surprise, Scarlett breaks all his rules from the jump), and owning his reputation. He was teased throughout the other books (and in an earlier series), but reading about him in this was better than I expected - he was cocky but never mean, open sexually but wanted consent, and ultimately had to reckon with who he was in his darkest moments after his accident. Letting Scarlett take care of him wasn’t easy, but it allowed them both to be vulnerable with each other and put down their walls.

Scarlett and Tobias were delicious. She called him out on his crap, and he gave her unconditional support. And, as always, the spice in this book was SO good - there was communication, honest discussions about boundaries, and the consent between these two made everything they did that much better. There’s a scene in an elevator and then one in a home library - both are now living in my head rent-free.

And we got to revisit Xander & Harper and Colt & Joss. I love the friendgroup and found family aspect.

I can’t recommend Maggie’s books enough and I am so excited to see what’s coming next!

**ARC REVIEW**
Wild Card is book #3 in the Seattle Phantom Football series by Maggie Rawdon. I have been wanting to know more about Tobias in ageeees and this book did not dissapoint.

My rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🔥🔥🔥

If you like these tropes, you will enjoy reading this book :)
🖤Frenemies to Lovers
🏈Opposites Attract
🖤One Night
🏈Forced Proximity
🖤Boy Obsessed
🏈Player Reformed
🖤Beauty and the Beast Vibes (with a secret library)

Scarlett is set up on a double date with Carter, who is a former co-worker and they have been her best friend Harper and her boyfriend for her 30th birthday dinner. It doesn't get to a great start when Carter shows up with his girlfriend Chloe...... oh and did I mention he thought it was Harper's birthday and not her birthday?

To save her from humiliation, Xander gets in touch with Tobias Westfield to come and pretent to be Scarlett's date.

They both love to hate each other but have a mutual attraction to each other. I loved their banter together.

When they finally give into temptation its FIRE!!!!! Honestly, I was blushing soooo much!!

Tobias and Scarlett's relationship is tested when there is a leaked video and Tobias gets into an accident and Scarlett ends up looking after him.

One moment that I can't stop thinking about is the moment she catches him with his phone and the moment after - JUST HOT HOT HOT!!! ALSO THE LIBRARY!!! JUST WOW!!!

I love how much they had in common!!! The shared love of books and I loved how supportive he was with her podcast.

He was a grumpy patient when Scarlett tried to take care of him but slowly she was able to break down those walls and when he let her in, they were both just as gone for each other.

Can we also talk about his nickname for her!! SPITFIRE!!!! OBSESSED!!!

Overall, Maggie has written another amazing book and this was the perfect way to end this series. I cannot wait to read more from Maggie.

Thank you to Maggie for kindly sending me this book to read and review. This review is my own honest opinion on the book :)

"Wild Card," a part of the Seattle Phantom Football Series by Maggie Rawdon, can be enjoyed as a standalone, offering an enticing story of love and recovery.

The book introduces us to Tobias and Scarlet. Tobias is a talented wide receiver for the Seattle Phantom, while Scarlet works as a curator in a museum. Their paths cross when a disastrous birthday date arranged by a friend leaves Scarlet in a tricky situation, prompting a text to Tobias for assistance. It's a twist of fate as Tobias, the last person Scarlet expected, becomes her savior once again when she's stranded in the rain.

Their dynamic is charged with banter, reflecting their complex frenemy relationship fueled by a mutual attraction. This leads to a spontaneous one-night stand, setting the stage for their rollercoaster journey.

After an intimate video of Tobias is leaked, he spirals into a dark place. A tragic motorcycle accident further compounds his struggles, leaving him isolated and in need of help. Reluctantly, their friends turn to Scarlet, tasking her with nursing Tobias back to health as she awaits the opening of the new museum and Tobias works hard to salvage his career.

I found "Wild Card" to be a compelling read. Scarlet's unwavering support and care for Tobias during his darkest times were touching. As a survivor myself, I appreciated the book's portrayal of the ongoing mental health struggles that often accompany traumatic events. The inclusion of Tobias seeking therapy was a positive aspect, highlighting the importance of addressing mental health.

Despite his playboy reputation before Scarlet, Tobias reveals himself as a compassionate, kind, and caring man. He battles with self-doubt, largely stemming from a tumultuous relationship with his father. Overcoming this toxic influence is a significant part of his character growth.

Scarlet, a self-described nerd with a penchant for vintage clothing, works at the museum. Her connection with Tobias deepens as she cares for him after the accident. Their intimacy develops naturally, but Scarlet's attempt to date others while maintaining her connection with Tobias felt somewhat incongruous. Nevertheless, her genuine pride in his recovery and her attraction to him added depth to her character.

The love story between Tobias and Scarlet is engaging, but I yearned for a deeper exploration of their emotional connection. The focus on their physical chemistry, while undeniably passionate, left me wanting more insight into their feelings and emotional journey.

The steamy scenes are expertly written, showcasing Tobias's passionate nature and filthy mouth. The balance between spice and emotional depth was slightly skewed for my taste.

"Wild Card" offers a quick and enjoyable read with well-executed character growth. Tobias and Scarlet's shared love for history and their mutual nerdiness provide endearing qualities to their relationship. If you're in search of a fast-paced, easy read with tons of spice, this book is worth a try. However, if you prefer a stronger emotional focus, you may find it falls slightly short in that

Maggie, you’re amazing! This series just keeps getting better. Tobias is everything I wanted him to be. The wild player obsessed with the supposed good girl he shouldn’t want. Scarlett is my favorite type of FMC. She’s sweet and works hard while also able to put some fire behind her bickering with the arrogant professional wide receiver. These two together are perfect. And all those spicy scenes were extra kînkÿ.

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐚 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞.

Summary:
Tobias Westfield is the ultimate player and bad boy extraordinaire. His bedroom activities are eclectic to say the least, but the most frustrating thing is his obsession with “good girl” Scarlett Edgar. His best friend’s girl friend’s best friend is completely off limits, but when the perfect opportunity arises and he gets to play the white knight - he throws caution to the win. One night changes it all. Will his past exploits and present motorcycle accident cause permanent damage to his chances?

Scarlett Edgar is in limbo. As her old job winds down, she’s left to fill the temporary void with dating and job searches. When her first attempt completely blows up, her favorite football wide receiver and most arrogant and infuriating frenemy comes to her rescue. One night shifts the balance. Will their forced proximity be enough to reform this player in more ways than one?

Did I just read my favorite Maggie Rawdon book to date?! I absolutely fell in love with Easton Westfield back in 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐥 and when we were introduced to his brother, Tobias, I just knew he’d bring me to my knees. I don’t know how Maggie does it, but those 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 are just special.

Tobias Westfield is known for his game on and off the field. He’s allergic to commitment but he can’t help but antagonize Scarlett any change he gets. But when Scarlett needs saving from an embarrassing situation they find themselves finally giving in to one night together.

But when Tobias finds himself in hot waters and in need of assistance, Scar steps up to help. And while he thought one night would be enough, he quickly realizes just how far under his skin Scarlett has gotten and he can’t get her

Now, I’m going to be a hater for a second and admit that I wasn’t very excited when I realized Scarlett would be our FMC for Tobias. I didn’t feel the vibe in previous books for whatever reason but In Maggie We Trust because these two could not have been more perfect together. Their sexual chemistry, their banter, their connection, their interests were so very in align with one another and I don’t think there anyone better who could bring Tobias to his knees.

I’m so sad this series is over but I am so excited to see what Maggie does next!
