Irresistible Rogue: An Enemies with Benefits Antihero Romance

Rate this book
Irresistible Rogue is an angsty and suspenseful enemies-with-benefits romance, featuring a mysterious alpha antihero, an inexperienced heroine on the verge of a steamy awakening, and a one night stand that ignites an all-consuming mutual obsession.

One night would never be enough...

I ducked into a bar on a stormy night and met a smoldering, enigmatic stranger with the body of an athlete and eyes like a wolf on the prowl.
He was gorgeous, he said all the right things, and he gave me the hottest night of my life.
And a fake name.

The next day, I died of humiliation when I found out who he really was.

Shane Madrigal.
Underground fighter. Mercurial, mysterious bachelor.
And now, my arch enemy.
Because my mom just got engaged to his dad.
And he seduced me just to screw with me.

The next time I see him, his wolfish gaze is dripping with animosity.
I’ll have to endure him at all the formal events leading up to the wedding.
Mom even wants him to walk me down the aisle.
And I won’t let our secret war ruin the wedding of Mom’s dreams.

I’m ready to call a truce in desperation.
But when my enemy flirts with me, I’m confused.
I know he’s just messing with my head. Because he hates me, right?

I thought he did.
But the way he’s looking at me now is telling a different story.
And it’s making me question everything that’s ever happened between us… starting with that night in the storm.

So after like 40-45% of this book I just started skimming because I could not deal with the FMC anymore. I’m not sure if I was reading the same book as everyone else but I was very confused. In one breathe she’s saying if he wants to fight she’ll fight and talking about how she’s going to make thing difficult for him and give him a taste of his own medicine and the next she’s literally at his apartment begging him for a “truce”. What? I wouldn’t even call this enemies to lovers because all she does is call him a troll or whatever, it’s her just being whiny but then giving him everything he asks for.

Obviously there was a huge miscommunication with them that gets left in the air for 4 whole years. It kind of resolves quickly but not before she watches him spank another woman’s rear on a lambo. I can usually handle OW scenes before they’re together but for some reason his character just rubbed me the wrong way when it came to s*x and the clubs and everything else spicy.

THEN we take a drastic turn and it turns into a BDSM daddy/little girl submissive relationship and I’m like wtf? How did we get here? Where was the enemies? Like….it’s just her submitting. And them having sexual scenes. Maybe they did more stuff together between 50-80% but again I skimmed until around 80 because I wanted to know what the conflict was and that was kind of underwhelming too.

Another thing that bothered me was her relationship that consisted of being a doormat with her mom. It irked me that she let things like cutting all her hair happen just to appease her. I know Shane brings this up too, but it happened for way too long in the book. She’s basically just a doormat in general.

I gave it two stars mainly for Shane. I understood why he was the way he was and felt bad for him and his past. I loved knowing that in the future (epilogue) he heals and works on his relationship with his family. I’d say that was probably the best part of the book. The spice wasn’t bad but it kind of reminded me of 50 shades or other things I’ve read so I found it hard to get into.

Overall it wasn’t for me but hey I’m in the minority so it very well could just be a me thing!

Can Shane be MY Daddy?! 🥵

ARC Review

WOW! Jaine Diamond has been one of my favorite authors since I first stumbled upon her books, and this book did not disappoint.

Let me start by saying that the whole “Daddy” thing has always low-key sleeved me out, but holy God dayumn! SIGN ME UP! Shane made it SO👏🏼effing👏🏼HOT👏🏼! 🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️

I was so excited when I heard that this book was coming out, and I’ll admit, I was initially a little disappointed in the character selection—only because I felt like Shane & Jolie were both a little obscure, I guess? Like, I didn’t “know” them as well as some of the other characters. Jolie, especially. That being said, I was definitely NOT disappointed.
I loved that we got to see more of the Vola family, and that we got to know them all better. I do wish that there’d been more cameos of the other characters in this book, but honestly, it really wouldn’t have made sense for the “missing” ones to appear. We got to see a couple glimpses of Matthew & Ashley, and a few glimpses of Johnny & Angeline. Dane & Lex are so close with Shane that, of course we saw them quite a bit, which was great. The banter between them all was phenomenal! Especially the scene towards the beginning where Shane went to Dane’s office. Hilarious! I also liked Dani so much better in this book than I had in previous ones.

Unlike Johnny’s book, Wicked Angel (which is my absolute favorite in the Vancity Villains collection!) there wasn’t as much deep-seated trauma and mystery, but of course there was still pain & trauma that both Shane & Jolie were contending with. They both had major abandonment and rejection issues that they were working through.

As far as 🌶️ level in this book? HOT DAMN!!! 🥵
I’m not typically a big sucker for BDSM stuff, but wowzahs! Jaine did such a fantastic job of making all that work & making it SO HOT! I really like how it was pointed out that a lot of “Doms” do such a piss poor job of taking on that responsibility and instead of truly taking care of their Sub, they take advantage of them & basically abuse them under the guise of being a Dom. I feel like 90% of the books that I’ve read with “Doms” fall into this category, and I truly feel like that’s a very dangerous precedent to set. Consent is key, damn it!!! I really think that the author did a great job of setting up those expectations with how Shane did the “hot, warm, cold” thing, and explaining the potential issues with relying solely on a safe word. Kudos!

This is the first time that I’ve been selected for an ARC and I’m so thankful to have been able to have the opportunity. I am going to be biting my nails until the next series comes out! I can’t wait to see what this incredibly talented author has in store for us next!

Good lord this was BAD. DNF’ed at 23% in an act of self-preservation. I was so uninterested and confused … there were too many family members introduced for literally no reason (and ALL their names are similar). Idk who edited this but there’s a line that read “I SPELL POT” instead of SMELL.

**Audio Review**
Irresistible Rogue by Jaine Diamond was an alluring and spicy enemies-with-benefits romance that had me intrigued right from the start. Jolie and Shane's journey to HEA was full of a lot of vulnerable moments, witty banter, dominating spice, and a swoony HEA. Plus, the tension between these two was off-the-charts hot.

Alexis Paige and Dane Anderson perform this audiobook in dual narration. This was the first time I'd heard these two narrators, and both did a great job bringing Jaine's words to life. Alexis captured Jolie's conflicted, sassy, and passionate personality perfectly while Dane's deep demanding tone was spot on conveying Shane's alpha, possessive persona. Both narrators brought the heat with Jolie and Shane's fiery tension-filled chemistry.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. If you are a fan of an enemies-to-lovers romance with a hot overprotective charismatic hero, a bold curious heroine returning home, a parent's wedding, a Dom/sub relationship, sex clubs, underground fights, lots of spice, and a HEA that is utterly irresistible, then you will love Shane and Jolie's romance. I'm looking forward to more from Jaine Diamond.

I got sucked in to this story right away! I really liked Shane and Jolie. The one night stand turning out to be future step brother was great. I love those types of storylines! & the Spicy scenes were hot 🥵.
Overall I enjoyed the characters and story line. This was a new to me author but I’d def read more of their work!

The narration was also done very well and not cringe which is always a huge plus in my books!

This one was a good read with a bit of everything in it. I would say it's more dislike to lovers than enemies to lovers, but it is what it is! This whole book is definitely centered around a miscommunication, and even when it's kind of resolved, it doesn't change the FMCs mind, and she continues to "hate" the MMC. It makes for some good tension within their scorching chemistry, and overall leads to a good story that will have you wanting to see how it all resolves. The ending was really sweet, and I liked to see the characters let their guards fully down with one another.

The narrators did a good job with this one! The voices didn't fit perfectly for me, but they brought these characters to life regardless and did so with skill.

Sheeeeeesh

This was my first Jaine Diamond book, and I know it won’t be my last. Her character development of not only Jolie and Shane, but also all the background characters was intense and wonderful. I’m fully invested in everyone in this world. I also need a Shane in my life, if anyone knows where I can find one.

The audio was SO GOOD! Alexis Page always does a great job, and I was impressed with Dane Anderson too. This was my first audio by him. Overall, it was a great experience that I highly recommend.

4.5 pleasure filled stars!

I love when a book opens with a sexy meet up that was so hot, hot, hot, it curled my toes and practically singed my poor, unsuspecting fingers. That's what Jaine Diamond does best- she draws you right into her stories, like Irresistible Rogue, with a big old bang! Shane Madrigal has been teasing his story for quite a while across the span of many books now and what a surprising side to him we discover- a lone wolf, beautiful but lethally charming, just waiting to pounce- dang, this man is as smoldery, dominating and complicated as they come, but sometimes I wanted to smack him silly.

When Shane sees Jolie Vola in those first moments, she may have been a melted, watered down mess, but there was something about this quirky, off beat woman that called to him, and he wanted to see what was going on inside that innocent little head of hers. Jolie goes way out of her comfort zone, drawn into a spicy one night stand with this attractive, seductive stranger. There's hot and then there's off the charts HAWT!! Neither will forget their steamy night together, but the next morning, questions without answers, along with misconceptions might burn it all to the ground.

This story was fire, but cooled as time passed. Jolie moved away to find peace outside of Vancouver and Shane stayed where he was, punishing his body and unnerving his friends and family by slaying his demons in the underground fighting circuit. When duty calls Jolie home for her mother's long awaited wedding to Shane's father, their paths must cross again. After all, you can run but can't hide from or outrun 'family' no matter how hard you try. The future step siblings become enemies with benefits who can't seem to stay away from each other.

I didn't realize how much I was going to flove Jolie's outspoken and hilariously open minded extended family. Her mother's sisters, her older, more experienced cousins and confidants, Dani and Danica Vola- laying that advice right out there for Jolie to take in when she needed a helping hand. Sprinkling in Ashley Player sightings around generously was a thrilling delight, as well as many of my favorite JD characters making themselves known, here in Vancity Villains book 4. I love the expansive worlds that connect them all in such exciting ways, in and around Vancouver. The Dirtyverse! How I love everything about it! There's so much of it here to gobble up.

The dynamics of Jolie's mom marrying Shane's Dad, his brother's (can they have their own books, I wondered to myself?), and all the ansgty moments as Jolie and Shane got deeper and more entrenched in their own story of forbidden pleasure. While the first half was a slower burn, the last half was my favorite part of Irresistible Rogue. Flaws, mistrust and heartaches, (they both had them to overcome), as they grew up and into who there were meant to be, was the final dab of delicious icing on this yummy, roguish tale of finding love in unexpected places. Thank goodness Jaine Diamond continues to bring me the kind of stories I can't wait to get my hands on.

I was given an early copy to read and this is my freely given review of it.

Hello holy hotness! Shane Madrigal certainty lives up to the book title as he is Irresistible! Irresistible Rogue is a sizzling, enemies-with-benefits romance that was so enthralling that I devoured it a practically one sitting. Shane and Jolie have an explosive first encounter that had me both chuckling and swooning, but then things take a sudden turn. With snarky banter and electrifying chemistry these two have sparks flying right and left. This novel is spicy and full of kindle melting scenes that had me frantically fanning myself. While there are a ton of steamy scenes, there is also well thought out plot with a great cast of characters, humorous moments, romance, as well as some heartbreak.

Shane and Jolie are these perfectly imperfect characters that burrowed their way into my heart. I marvel at how this author creates complex characters that are endearing, flawed, and so real. It is so easy to get attached to them and root for their HEA. Jolie is a spunky heroine and struggles in grappling with all of her tumultuous feelings when it comes to Shane. In the beginning of the book, she seemed to be floundering over various aspects of her life and I enjoyed witnessing how she grew as a character. As for Shane, well everybody needs a Shane in their life because that man is sinfully delicious with his smoldering good looks, confidence, and commanding presence. Throughout the book, the author carefully peels back of his layers and it is evident that he is so much more than an irresistible rogue. The author did an excellent job with his character development.

Irresistible Rogue is book 4 in the Vancity Villains series and it can be read as a standalone. If you have read any of the previous books in this series, you will be thrilled to reconnect with some of those characters. If you have read Hot Mess in the Players series, you are in for a special treat as Jolie is cousins with Danica and Dani so these two lovelies along with Ashley and Matt make appearances throughout the book. As always, this author has written a spectacular read and I am excited to see where the author will take the reader next!

I read an early version of this novel and I voluntarily leave this review. All thoughts an opinions are entirely my own.

I love Jaine’s ability to always surprise us with the way she creates interconnecting stories throughout her series’. There is amazing characters with such depth, beautiful arcs and who are really so much more than they appear.

Her books are captivating, you easily fall in love with the characters and world she creates. Hard to put this one down. Jolie and Shane really stole my heart more and more as I got to know them both.

These two really were so cute, yes all their fighting and bickering was fun, and ultimately lead to some very steamy pages. My heart goes out to both of them-so on guard and a little closed off, not thinking they are worthy of love for various reasons.
As the book went and they got closer I melted at their relationship. They both had missing pieces in their lives, that they beautifully found in one another.

Shane is so much more than meets the eye, he has trauma from is past and upbringing-but I couldn’t help but fall for him and want him to show off more of that side of him
Jolie has her own insecurities and trust issues, which hurt my heart. I loved seeing Jolie gain more confidence in herself, open up, take charge and learn things about what she wanted.
They were so perfect for each other. Shane easily took my heart! I melted so much for that man!

I loved the added touches of family and friends! Jolie had a wonderful relationship with the Dani and Danica and same with Shane and the rest of the Vancity Villians. I found myself chucking and smiling throughout those interactions!

I can’t wait to see what part of the Dirtyverse Jaine will give us next!

4.5⭐️

Jolie meets a mysterious man in a bar one night and ends up having a one night stand with him. Neither of them use their real names and Jolie doesn't expect to ever see or hear from him again but the morning after wakes up to a note with his real name and his phone number. She realizes that her one night stand is her soon to be step brother Shane Madrigal.
Four years later after Jolie has escaped to San Diego she sees Shane again while in town to prepare for her mother's wedding. Shane and Jolie immediately seem to not get along and the last thing Jolie wants to do is relive sleeping with him. Shane schedules an illegal MMA fight to train for and hopefully use to avoid Jolie but one night while she is out with her cousins and he is out with his brothers the two of them have another one night stand which becomes more.
Jolie discovers that Shane is a dominant and the two arrange for her to be his submissive while she is in town for the wedding. They explore together and can't help but fall for one another but they know there is an end date to their arrangement and neither one will admit how they feel.
This book was really good. Shane was such an arrogant but charming guy and I his dominant alpha male personality was so sexy. His weakness seemed to be Joline from the very beginning and she just became more and more of a priority as their relationship deepened. I really love Jaine Diamond's books and can't wait for more from her. I loved that the other characters make an appearance especially Danica and Ashley. Jolie I found to be an extremely likable character and her and Shane's chemistry was off the charts.

Irresistible Rogue - Jaine Diamond

Narrated by: Alexis Paige and Dane Anderson

My Review:
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Pages: 494
Genre: Romance
Tropes: One Night Stand, Enemies With Benefits, Possessive, Antihero/MMA fighter, Mutual Obsession

These narrator’s deserve Oscar’s for their narration of this book! Dane Anderson brought Shane to life to the point the listener practically needs a cold shower! I absolutely loved listening as they lured me in! Definitely 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s for the narrators.

Jaine Diamond outdid herself on this book! It’s amazing and the characters are multilayered. Jaine peels each layer back delicately and reveals their personalities and traits.

You have to read this book, better yet listen to the audiobook and get to know Shane and Jolie. Shane is the absolute perfect book boyfriend. He will answer any question honestly. He doesn’t hide who he truly is or what he likes. Jolie is just finding herself and he patiently brings her to life. He gives her a taste of a different lifestyle and lets her decide if it’s for her.

This book has dark elements but they are necessary to get to the beautiful ending.

I honestly cannot recommend this book and audiobook high enough. It is definitely 10 out of 5 stars. 5 stars just aren’t enough!

Irresistible Rogue is the fourth book in the Vancity Villains series by Jaine Diamond. Each book is about a different couple but I HIGHLY recommend reading the series. They just keep getting hotter and hotter. Straight fire these couples 🔥 and I do love a good enemies-to-lovers story…

When Jolie walked into an upscale bar, looking a hot mess, she had no idea she was about to have the hottest night of her life with a complete stranger. What she expected even less was that he turned out to be her future stepbrother. It was humiliating, so much so that she moved out of the country and avoided Shane Madrigal until she couldn’t.

It’s been four years since she saw the enemy. Four years since she felt the rush in her body from just looking at the man. She hated him. He flirted with her. She knew she should stay away from him but it was hard when she was in town for her mom’s wedding to his dad. Five weeks, then she would be back in California away from the temptation…

The temptation of more nights with the only man who pleasured her in all the best of ways. Ways she didn’t even know she craved. It was a sexual-awakening and she wanted more. She wanted it all.

Holy. Fucking. Hotness!! I love these series. Yes, every book brings on the sexy but they also bring on the emotions. It’s seriously addictive. The writing. The characters. The stories. They are ones that stay with you.

Oh my gosh, I can NEVER get enough of this amazing Dirtyverse that Jaine Diamond has created and I have been looking forward to Shane's story for a while since we have gotten to know Lex and Dane so well, and Shane was always like a dark horse. I freaking LOVED this book so much, Jolie is so freaking sweet and extremely relatable and this book was SO HOT! I adored seeing how similar the two of them were and the struggles that they have gone through while really getting to know them AND also seeing some of my FAVORITE Dirtyverse characters.

All in all, you need this book in your life, it was full of so much steam and heart that I was hooked from the very first page and was so sad when it ended ONLY because it was over and I still wanted so much more from them all! I 100% give this book 5 outta 5 stars!

PS: Thank you to Jaine Diamond for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

Irresistibly Rogue
By Janie Diamond
Narrated by Alexis Paige and Dane Anderson

Talk about a smoking hot book! Janie Diamond drew me right in from the start. I am a fool for banter, enemies to lovers and touch her and die/ possessive tropes, well this book checked them all. Shane was a total smoke show! Shane and Jolie were quite perfect together they had a total push and pull type relationship.

This was the first dom/sub book I’ve ever read. Shane is a total alpha male and Jolie is new to this lifestyle. They are incredibly hot together and cannot get enough of each other.

The audiobook was incredible. Alexis Paige and Dane Anderson were a great choice for this hot and fast paced story. Paige delivered an upbeat, perky performance. I had a hard time picturing Andersons voice with Shane’s character though, it wasn’t enough to deter me away from the book. I devoured this audio book in a day.

Highly recommend this book, I cannot wait to read more in this series.

Jaine Diamond always has an amazing ability to create complex characters that I absolutely adore. Shane is deliciously dangerous and his dirty mouth is so good. Joelie is nothing Shane expected and from their very first meeting nothing goes as planned.

The character development for both MCs is good. Joelie becoming more confident while Shane stops trying to push everyone away and punishing himself.

The chemistry between them is so hot a simple spark would ignite the fire raging between them. The things Shane introduced Joelie to are hot and those scenes were spicy.

Overall I loved listening to the audiobook. Told in dual narration both narrators did a great job of bringing all the characters to life.

I highly recommend this audiobook.

I have loved all of Jaine's books so I'm super disappointed that I couldn't really get into this one.
Maybe the BDSM just isn't for me but I felt like that was all we actually saw.
Jolie is whiny and childish and I wasnt drawn into her at all.
And I think I expected Shane to be a bad boy with a really fun side but instead he was just kind of serious and flat.
They fell in love.. but I just never felt it.

This is the fourth book in the Vancity Villain Series. This was my first Jaime Diamond's book. Shane and Jolie's story is passionate, and entertaining. Shane is an alpha antihero, enigmatic, and dominant. Jolie is naive, and determined. Their relationship is complex. The story is passionate, and emotional, filled with angst, and drama. This is a steamy stepbrother BDSM Daddy romance. Alexis Paige and Dane Anderson are new narrators to me. They did a good job bringing these characters and this story to life. #ValentinePR

Irresistible Rogue Audiobook
Jaine Diamond

Imagine escaping family drama and pouring rain, only to meet a gorgeous stranger who offers you a night you will never forget. Slight problem though, after your tryst with the mysterious stranger, you find out he is your soon to be step-brother.

Jolie has so much sass and I am here for it. Alexis Paige did such a good job bringing her spitfire attitude to life.

It was so easy to hate Shane at the beginning, but he definitely grew on me. Dane Anderson somehow made Shane’s arrogance and nonchalance way more attractive than it should have been.

Jaine does not disappoint in the final book of the Vancity Villains.
Shane and Jolie, like most of Jaine’s characters have their angst. The BDSM is taken to a different level than Jaine has explored in her other books. She does an amazing job of presenting this lifestyle the way it should be and making Shane a true Dom.
There are familiar characters that pop up from previous books.

FINALLY! A Realistic Look at a Kink Relationship

**MILD SPOILERS?**

*

*

*

I don't know if it's really spoilers but I'm going to err on the side of caution. Ms. Jaine does an absolutely fantastic job of showing the REAL world of BDSM and a proper D/s relationship, especially with how confused yet intrigued Jolie is by the whole new world Shane introduced her to. Too many books out there show that kind of lifestyle with such extremes and those fabrications do not show healthy BDSM relationships. (YOU KNOW SOME OF BOOKS I'M REFERRING TO)

A true BDSM relationship, regardless of which branch of kink, involves a ton of communication, honesty, respect, and care. Shane was an excellent example of a caring Dom in that he made sure Jolie had the proper aftercare to come down off that high of endorphins and emotions in a safe, comfortable way, and he constantly checked in with her throughout their play to make sure she was good with what he was doing. He never pushed her past a "cold" or "ice" trigger, showing he respected her boundaries, while carefully navigating any "warm" responses.

Their relationship outside the BDSM aspect was also excellently done. One thing that I love about Ms. Jaine's books (and there are a LOT) is that her characters are just so believable. Their talents, their flaws, their quirks, their uncertainties, their rainbow of emotions. She's written such HUMAN characters, you can't help but be pulled in.

And I was SO SO happy to see my favorite triad of Danica, Ashley, and Matt again!

Yet another outstanding book in our beloved Dirtyverse world. Five stars is not nearly enough.

Damn it. I adore Jaine Diamond, she’s my hometown girl & I’ve been a diehard diamond-fan since her “Dirty” series. This book, Irresistible Rogue, broke my fan-girl heart. I’ll try to explain without spoilers.

I knew all the main characters going into this book so I didn’t find that part confusing. However, at first I stopped reading at chapter six and thought “Shane is an a-hole.” I couldn’t get past my rampant dislike for him and put it as DNF. I gave it a few days & tried again but found myself skimming pages.

The other FMCs in Jaine’s books are quirky but strong. Jolie doesn’t have a backbone at all (until the very end. Sort of.) Like so many FMCs lately, she sees Shane for the a-hole he is (the whole misunderstanding doesn’t negate that) and still she’s like “but he gave me orgasms…”

He’s supposed to be an experienced Dom but he’s so self-centred that he’s a terrible one. That brought me to chapter 23 where Shane is fully aware of what’s happening and what he’s doing and still he chooses to play mind games, gaslight and generally be an a-hole, not because Jolie has done anything wrong, but because he hasn’t seen her in 3 days? That’s abusive behaviour and definitely not something and experienced Dom would engage in. It was infuriating.

Jolie disappointed me but Shane just pissed me off. In comparison to Jaine’s other books, I would put this dead last. I wouldn’t recommend it and I truly hate saying that. I gave it 3 stars because some others have seemed to like it and it might just not be for me. (But after checking some of the other reviews on Goodreads, I’m not alone in finding this book far from irresistible. Sigh.)

I didn't expect that Shane Madrigal would become my favorite in the Vancity Villains series but here I am, swooning after the bad boy underground fighter.
When she met Shane, Jolie went way out of her confort zone and took me with her.
I felt every touch, every hate glare, every sexy shiver, and finally all the love between those too.
I also truly loved when all those other characters from the Dirtyverse showed up, it felt like meeting old friends again.
I highly recommend that book.

This book was absolutely amazing, the story grabbed my attention immediately and held it hostage for the entire book, so much so, I could not tear myself away and nothing else mattered except what was going to happen next in the book. The lead characters are easy to relate to and connect with, they were easy to care about to, even the intense and angsty anti-hero, Shane Madrigal. Jolie Volla had several reasons to leave Canada and move to sunny California, but she is home for her mother’s upcoming wedding and it did not thrill her to have to see her soon-to-be step-brother, Shane, her one-night stand, the night of her mother’s engagement party. It was a memorable one-night stand, but it angered her because she felt she was being played. Shane was not happy with the way she disappeared after their memorable tryst, and he interpreted it as her being too good for the likes of him. Shane had some serious issues with self-worth and anger cause by his own inner demons. Jolie had her own issues, but she had a great support system and friends and relatives to talk to. She still can not get the night she spent with Shane out of her head, but dealing with him has not been easy because of his attitude and terrible disposition. Shane is not only misunderstood by others, but by himself, and he puts himself in dangerous situations just so he could feel the pain, pain he thinks he deserves. He is a natural dominant, and he realized Jolie is a natural submissive, but knows little about being a submissive or dominated either. Needing Shane to cooperate for the sake of her mother’s wedding, she calls a truce, which he takes advantage of. She also wants to know if that smoking hot one-night stand was just a fluke, since she never felt the same with anyone else. She also gets him to introduce her to his BDSM world. I loved the complexity of the characters and how everything played out in this smoking hot enemies-to-lovers romance. The writing, plot, and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Jaine Diamond, thank you for this amazing and wonderfully entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Alexis Paige and Dane Anderson did an amazing job of bringing these characters to life and the story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting, sounding believable and just as I imagined how they would sound. Anderson aced it as Shane grasping every side of his personality, his angst, dominance and, in the end, his caring and loving side. Paige’s Jolie was spot on, she too had a grasp on her character’s personality, from her quirkiness to her determination. Both were just as fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the wonderful listen.

Irresistible Rogue is the fourth book in Jaine Diamond's Vancity Villains series and is Jolie and Shane's enemies to lovers story.
After having an argument with her Mom, Jolie Vola finds herself taking refuge in a local restaurant from both the storm and her mother's expectations. Even though she is dripping wet and she has her makeup running down her face she has piqued the interest of the tall dark and handsome stranger at the bar. Jolie cannot understand how she has caught his attention especially looking the way she does but she cannot deny the sparks between them. The intense connection between them is too hard to ignore so they spend a steamy lust filled night together without exchanging who they really are.
The morning after, Jolie wakes up to find her mystery guy is nowhere to be seen and all that is left is a note. After reading the note, it sends Jolie spiralling... She has just spent an incredible night with her soon to be stepbrother!
Four years later...
As her Mom's wedding draws closer, Jolie knows she cannot keep hiding from Shane Madigral especially when their parents marriage will keep throwing them together for the rest of their lives. But Jolie cannot get over the hurt and anger she still feels from that night, what kind of person deliberately seeks out his soon to be stepsister, to seduce her just so he can mess with their parent's marriage?! Jolie is determined to keep all interactions with Shane to a minimum but the thing that has shocked her the most is how much she still wants Shane and how intense the chemistry is between them after all this time.
"all at once, I was under his spell again. The way I was that night.
I knew I didn't imagine it in my memory; that hold he'd had over me."
So when Jolie finds out that Shane didn't know who she was that night, it's becoming harder and harder to deny the sparks between them. So they decide to explore this connection whilst Jolie is in town for the wedding and after she leaves they'll go back to the way things were...simple right?
However as their time together is coming to a close, both Jolie and Shane know what they have is something special, but neither one of them are ready to admit how they really feel and Jolie's life is in California, Shane can't ask her to give up her life there when he's not sure what he can offer her if anything and they've also got the little problem of they will soon be step-siblings.
Can Shane and Jolie find a way to around all the obstacles standing in their way? Or will they lose the chance at something incredible?
Read Irresistible Rogue now to find out!

Fans of Jaine Diamond have been eagerly awaiting Shane Madrigal’s book for a long time. This is because he is one of those characters that as soon as he appears on the page, he captures your attention and curiosity. You instantly want to know more about the devilish handsome man with the commanding presence. I can happily say that it was well worth the wait for this Irresistible Rogue and that I was captivated from the beginning with the hilarious and hot meet cute.

Shane is a MMA fighter, who is best friends with a billionaire, a rock star, and a biker. He is tall, dark, and handsome with a piercing gaze and an air of confidence. From Shane’s appearances in previous stories, I thought he would need a very strong willed, man-eater type of FMC, someone more like Dani Vola (for those in the know) where it would be two strong willed personalities clashing… maybe an enemies to lovers romance. Instead, we got Dani’s cute, awkward, younger cousin Jolie… who is about to become his stepsister. Jolie is very sweet and a little goofy, however she also had a gentle strength where at times she quietly held her ground or took a risk. I loved this quiet contradiction.

These two characters had soooo much chemistry together. I was kept in delicious anticipation wondering what they were going to do next. The banter, the little touches and glances and the kissing!! Ohhh, even the kissing was super hot.

This story also revolves around Shane’s bedroom preferences, mainly that he is a ‘pleasure dom’. Not only does this make this story scorching HOT, it also shows us a whole new aspect of his character. There are so many hidden layers to this man which you discover as the story unfolds. His growth throughout the story was captivating and realistic. Jolie was just what Shane needed for his hurt and jaded soul.

I need to give special mention to a scene where Shane makes a toast. This is hands down one of my favourite scenes in the series. My little heart swooned so hard I didn’t think she’d recover.

Jaine Diamond is one of my unicorn authors and this book just reinforces the many reasons why; intriguing narrative, great pacing, well developed realistic characters, addictive banter, delicious spice, humour and swoon worthy romance. Irresistible Rogue is packed full of all the wonderful facets a romance reader wants in their story.

Irresistible Rogue is book 4 of the Van City Villains and can be read as a standalone.

How hot is too hot?

Bad boy, adopted black sheep of his family Shane Madrigal runs into a beautiful woman who seems terribly out of place in a bar. She has been caught in a torrential downpour in a t-shirt, pedicure slippers and has makeup running down her face. She however, is fascinating to him. After he makes a few moves, he convinces her to join him in his hotel. A hot one night stand is just what he needs. After the amazing, fulfilling night, he leaves his name and number, but never receives a call. Fast forward 4 years and meet Jolie, who gave her name as Julie to her one night stand. Imagine her surprise when she found out Shane was going to be her new step brother. After her discovery a short time after the most intense night of her life, she moves to California. Now the wedding is in full swing and she knows she will run into Shane. She isn't prepared for the intensity of her hatred/confusion of her feelings toward him. She ends up following Shane and he proposes that they continue their tryst for a few weeks until their parents get married. She just wants to know if the off the charts sex they had before would still be there so she allows for one more night. As fate would have it, one night becomes more and Shane introduces Jolie to the world of BDSM as he is a Dom and feels she is the perfect submissive. As her trust in him grows, so do her feelings. He is patient and gentle with her, but is fully aware of the ticking clock counting down to the wedding and her eventual return to California. Can they convince the family that they are meant for each other and will their family accept them? Can Jolie give up her life in California or will she leave and find a new Dom back home now that her eyes have been opened to what she was missing? Can Shane give up his underground fighting and be the man Jolie needs? This was a perfect conclusion to the Vanity Villains series. Spice and chemistry are off the charts in this one. Jaine does it again and finds the perfect balance of emotions and character building. Highly recommended.

Irresistible Rogue is the fourth book in Jaine Diamond’s Vancity Villains series - a spin off series set in the same world as her Dirty and Players books.

This book, while absolutely fantastic as a stand alone, benefits from reading previous books, if for no other reason than the banter between Shane, our main man, and his best friends being even funnier.

I feel that Jaine has outdone herself with this story. I love the main characters, the side characters - many of whom we’ve met in previous books. Jolie, the female lead, is adorable and relatable. Shane is her perfect counter part - confident to boot but not without a past that he has yet to properly work through. As both of them navigate the weeks in the run up to the wedding of her mum and his adopted dad, they make a deal that ultimately leads to their HEA.

It’s almost as if Jaine decided to crank the heat up for this one. Shane is a pleasure dom and his quest to aid Jolie in her sexual awakening nearly sets the pages on fire. Nothing much makes me blush, but I definitely had to fan myself a couple of times during this read! 😂

Jaine’s Hot Mess (book one in the Players series) has been my favourite book for years and probably always will be. Irresistible Rogue is a serious contender for the top spot. It’s an outstanding book! 🧡

Sidenote: For those who have read previous books - Danica and Daniella, as they are Jolie’s cousins, are mentioned quite a bit in this. I didn’t much like Daniella for obvious reasons in Ash and Danica’s story, but she absolutely redeems herself in this as a funny side character who absolutely talks sense. I’d love to read her story. 😁
