Risky Shot (New York Slammers Book 1) Kindle Edition
Knox
I’ve lived and breathed hockey my entire life. As Captain of the New York Slammers, I live my life the way I do on the bench.
Calm and in control.
Getting a top five defenseman wasn’t anything new, until he came strolling into the locker room.
Now, nothing about my life is controlled, and I soon find myself in the fight of my life.
And his.
Asher
Getting traded to New York was never on my bingo card.
A chance to play for the best in the league.
Hockey was my only priority.
But then I met him.
He’s my Captain. He’s off limits.
And I’ve always followed the rules.
Until now.

Born and raised in New England, Heather Lyn lives in Southern Maine with her husband and son. When she doesn’t have her nose in a book, you can generally find her listening to country music or drinking coffee. Proficient in sarcasm, she enjoys bringing as much life to her books as she can. With a lifelong love of reading and storytelling, she decided to try her hand at self-publishing in 2016, when she released her debut novel.

I believe this is my first book from this author & what a emotional one it was. Asher was traded to New York to play hockey but what he didn’t realise was he was about to meet his future. Knox is the captain of the team but is worried he’s at the end of his career until he meets his new teammate.

Love forever

I knew what they meet that they would be together as one. This story was beautifully done. I cried so much and felt I was there with them. I knew when Knox turned his knee that was the end and he also knew. I cried when Asher got shot did not know the outcome. I’m glad they both became one happy family.

Brilliant characters, emotional plot, and so many grammar errors

I will start by saying this really should have trigger warnings in the book/product description. It mentions something about triggers, but the warnings weren't actually listed. There is death mentions, another situation where a pov character nearly dies, and ptsd.
The characters are amazing. You fall in love with them immediately. The story is great with most of the drama coming from outside the main characters relationship, so it's a beautiful story of a supportive and healthy relationship.
The grammar issues are bad though. It's stuff that should've been caught by an editor or beta readers. Missing or wrong words, awkward sentences or descriptions that leave you unsure of what is happening in the scene. Sometimes they pull you out, but in general the story is so good it just keeps pulling you back in.
Definitely worth the read, and I will be looking forward to the next book in the series. I recommend you read it when you have a weekend to devote to it, because I got so wrapped up I ended up late to something 😅

A beautifully written love story. Asher and Knox are now teammates. Both are attracted and drawn to the other. After another run-in with paparazzi, Knox invites Asher to stay with him in his home. Soon they are good friends, soon after that they are more . This is their story, the ups and downs to the hea.

ok debut novel

It’s ok. Definitely not 5 stars (has 4.7 as of this review). Reads like an authors first book. I think the last 25% is written well, though heavily reliant on a plot device to invoke emotion. But doesn’t make up for the overly sloppy writing of the first 50%.
Also, I’m not super invested in the side characters. I would read more from this author once they’ve matured their writing more.
