Chosen Boy (The Puck Boys of Brooks University Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 3,040 ratings

When my parents took me to a hockey camp as a kid, they never dreamed it would take me off the path of becoming a doctor, like everyone else in the family. Unfortunately for them, the moment I stepped into that arena and onto that ice, there was no going back.

Fast-forward to my junior year at Brooks University, and I’ve got one shot to make it to the pros. It’s now or never. Because if I don’t? Hello, medical school. Good-bye, skates.

The season gets even harder when the hockey team is forced to work with the dance team for a fundraiser, and I’m paired with the daughter of my family’s sworn enemy. As much as I hate to admit it, Sutton Savage is hard not to notice with her dark hair, big blue eyes, and angelic face to go along with those mouthy lips. Soon, it’s damn near impossible for me to hate her. And before I know it, I’m striking up a deal with her for her to be my girlfriend.

My
fake girlfriend.

Since we were kids, I’ve found Sutton to be an entitled brat, someone I couldn’t stand, but suddenly, I’m looking at her differently. And when no one is around, I still want to kiss her … and I realize things are becoming a lot more complicated than I ever imagined they would.

Romeo and Juliet were forbidden to be together, and look how well that turned out for them. The thing is, I’m beginning to see Sutton is worth drinking the poison for.

She might not be the one I’ve always wanted. But now, she’s the only one I see.

Chosen Boy is a Fake Relationship Hockey Romance in The Puck Boys of Brooks University series.

Hannah Gray spends her days in vacationland, living in a small, quaint town on the coast of Maine. She is an avid reader of contemporary romance and is always in competition with herself to read more books every year.

In love with Hunter and Sutton!
4/5 ⭐️2/5🌶️💭: Hannah Gray never fails to make me fall in love with the characters in her books. This is book 4 in the Puck Boy series and I am SO GLAD she’s giving us some more books in this one. I highly recommend you read the first three before diving into this one. This book follows Hunter and Sutton. Hunter attends Brooks University and plays hockey with hopes to one day make it to the NHL. Sutton dropped out of Juilliard’s dance program and ended up transferring to Brooks which has led her to being cut off by her parents. They both grew up in the same social circle and they disliked each other growing up but their families were friends. That was until things took a turn between the families and they became enemies. Sutton and Hunter ended up getting paired to dance together for charity where they strike a deal. As they grow closer and lines start to blur, they realize things aren’t as fake as they thought it was.I absolutely adored Hunter & Sutton’s story even though there were times where I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall. The TWIST in this book had me with my jaw on the floor. (Another reason why you should read the first three books prior to this one.) This did cover some heavy issues but I loved how well each character handled them. The strength they both showed and how well they each handled their journey so far was admirable. It was the perfect amount of spice and sweet just like Hannah said. This book ended beautifully and she sets up for the next book so darn well. I cannot wait.Side note: I loved seeing the other brooks boys and gals. 🥹🫶🏼What to expect:Enemies to loversFound familyFake datingForced proximityHockey sports romanceDual POVLots of banterHEA

This was my favorite book of this series - thus far at least. Sutton and Hunter's story was just... it's hard to put words to. But from the start I was totally enthralled by it. Their life's challenges are interesting all on their own, then how those are intertwined to make them enemies, of sorts, was also engaging throughout. But I've found that in this series, that Hannah Gray isn't so much giving us a college sports romance (which yes, this still is), but she's more providing us with stories and characters that are facing adversity and life challenges of some sort. And some are god-awful! So these stories are tugging at your heart strings and making your emotions hurt for these characters. And this story was no different.

But besides those emotion-filled parts of the story, the chemistry between Sutton and Hunter is amazing. It feels like it is bursting off the pages of this story, it's so explosive. I liked Sutton's way of putting him in his place, which counter-balanced Hunter's possessive side - which really was all that and a bag of chips! Grrrr. Wow, it was delicious.

But what stole the show for me in this book was the combination of their individual challenges, how life can be unfair at times - yet it is how we deal with those adversities that define us. And both Hunter and Sutton stayed true to themselves when it came to these moments, and we can't but take our hats off for them for their decisions and strength of character. But also, the attraction between them, the budding relationship, it was incredible. The sweet, tender moments between them were truly melting you. And then the twists and "surprise" plot twists were jaw-dropping!

I loved these two so much and their HEA? Ohhh my god! It was everything!

Sutton and Hunter’s families used to be besties but after a falling out between the parents, everyone hated each other. Sutton ends up transferring to the same school as Hunter and are forced together through a charity dance. These dance partners quickly become fake boyfriend/girlfriend… but it’s not that fake.

Overall, I liked this book more than the first two books but not as much as book three. For starters, the story didn’t feel as strong and there were some pretty cringe moments… like every time they did it… not the finest spicy writing. Also, the dead brother storyline felt weird to me. He had been in love with her since he was 7 and was three years older than her… he was in love with her when she was four?!?!! And he gave his brother permission to love her when he died??? It just didn’t vibe with me. Also, why did they only reference Brody by his full name for the first 2/3 of the book? You just in case the hockey team he was part of the previous season might confuse him with a different Brody (he was the ONLY one on the team)!
I did find it interesting the storylines that converged with the last book and how it tied up some loose ends I didn’t even realize were there. Aside from my rant about full naming him, I really liked that Brody and Bria didn’t just disappear from the series and their story got to continue a little more. There is also a really great lead up to the next book. I like when books are standalone but when they take place in the same series/universe, I enjoy seeing them have interconnecting storylines.

I liked this book. It was good. It kept my interest. The ending was so cute. It was a little confusing on what the side characters were doing but I also think that’s becuase this is the first book I’ve read in the series so I don’t know all of the characters. Overall i liked this book. Now there wasn’t something that was so good that I can give a four or five but I did like it. I say it was above an average review. I would recommend. 3.5/5

Sutton Savage is the daughter of a State Senator. She has been polished from the get go to alway look pretty, not speak, & be the best ballerina she can be (even if she has debilitating asthma). And all those things came with the luxury of money, until she gave it all up to leave Juilliard and got completely cut off. While are Brooks U starting over on her own terms, who does she run into other than ex-family-friend Hunter Thompson the hotshot hockey player. Tensions are high and there is no love lost between them, just hate. Thinking they can just avoid each other, the Ballerinas & Hockey players are teamed up to dance in pairs to benefit a charity started by an old BU hockey player the year before. To make matters worse between them, Sutton & Hunter are teamed up as partners. Realizing they will be spending a lot of time together, they use this to their advantage & decide to fake date to get what they want. Sutton to piss off her parents by dating Hunter, & Hunter dating Sutton to get his ex-GF Paige jealous enough to come back to him 100% and not just semi with him. If only it could be that simple. Can they really just stay enemies behind closed doors? Or will the fake romance flourish into REAL feelings? & What about family secrets that become uncovered? Can any relationship be saved?

Sutton and Hunter have an enemies to lovers, Romeo and Juliette and fake dating theme. She’s a dancer and of course he’s a hockey player.

Sutton and Hunter's story was one of the best I have ever read. The development of the book, the style of writing it was all really amazing. At the same time that you expect something to happen it happens but not the way you were expecting, like I said totally amazing. I really recommend this book. Seeing him fall for Sutton was incredible..

I was so excited to read book #4 in a series I absolutely adore and like the others before it, I was hooked!

Hunter and Sutton have know each other for years but a rift between their families causes dislike between the 2. This becomes an issue when they both end up at the same university and are paired together to dance in a charity function. Although things are never quite as they seem and they quickly realise how the dislike between them is not quite warranted, and start a fake relationship to help each other out. The relationship soon moves onto something so much more after the two put aside the issues they thought they had and give into the very obvious chemistry between them.

Hunters character knows exactly what he wants when it comes to Sutton, he’s protective, possessive, attentive and has such a filthy mouth-I loved it! Sutton doesn’t take any crap, but has a good heart, is tough and determined not to let her health issues affect her dreams, and the two of them together just fit!

I throughly enjoyed this book with the plot twists, the unexpected found family, and the fab character's. The cameo’s from the previous Puck boys was also such a good addition.

The little snippet at the end has me so excited for Cade’s book - it’s going to be emotional but I can’t wait!!!!

    “ A thousand times, I’ve danced. But this dance … it’s my favorite. “

I’m a LOVER of reads with books that incorporate dance into it because it’s one of my first loves. I grew up in a family full of music and dance so I find it interesting to dig into that professional life and see the struggles that comes along with it.

Sutton is very misunderstood because of her families decisions and choices. Hunter thinks that he knows the girl that he knows forever but it doesn’t take him long to realize that he read her all wrong.

These two are the definition of enemies to lovers with all their chemistry filled banter and both of them keeping secrets and going after their dreams. When they keep getting tossed together, they decide to fake date to benefit them both.

“ You might have started off as a fake girlfriend. But you’re still mine. Act like it.”

Along the way, they both realize that their assumptions are wrong and that’s when things change. I loved seeing the change in Hunter throughout this read while he falls hard for his little bird.

As always, Hannah finds a way to get me so emotional invested that I couldn’t put it down until I hit their HEA. The angst had me gripping my kindle, the emotional moments brought tears to my eyes and I was so proud to see these characters go for what they want.

Mix that up with some cameos from well loved characters was everything I could ask for. Next up Cade, with everything that happened surrounding him in this read.. I CANT WAIT!!!
