With our Concept CLA Class, we showcased the one-litre car of the electric age. One of the key drivers of its outstanding efficiency? The high-tech battery. We source the batteries for our electric vehicles from a global battery production network spanning three continents. Local battery production plays a pivotal role in our global electric strategy. In Europe, we actively support policy initiatives aimed at strengthening resilience and competitiveness through strategic investments in the local battery value chain. Currently, the European battery industry's production capacity falls short of the growing demand for electric vehicles. To keep pace with the increasing adoption, we advocate for the reduction of trade barriers where possible, while local production capacities are established. An immediate example is the careful drafting of the rules of origin under the EU-UK trade agreement to safeguard Europe's competitiveness. We're not just advocating; we're taking concrete steps. In Germany, we already produce battery systems at our Stuttgart Untertürkheim and Kamenz facilities, with additional plans in Kölleda and Sindelfingen. Additionally, we're investing a double-digit million euro sum in research and development, as well as constructing a net carbon-neutral battery recycling factory at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kuppenheim. #MercedesBenz
