🇧🇪 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐮𝐦 🧪 The Belgian #lifesciences sector comprises more than 300 companies with #biotech activities, employs more than 30.000 people (directly), and accounts for around 10% of the R&D expenses of the European #biopharmaceutical industry. The thriving life sciences sector in this country encompasses 8 of the most renowned Belgian universities, 19 research parks and 23 incubators, research institutes, academic hospitals, and clinical research organizations.   🔬 Located in the Flanders region of Belgium, flanders.bio is an independent, not for profit industry association, headquartered at the Tech Lane Ghent Science Park in Zwijnaarde, that serves as a catalyst for #innovation, #collaboration, and #network within the life sciences sector in Belgium.   🌍 This entity was founded in 2004 in a joint effort of Belgian life sciences entrepreneurs, venture capital and the Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie (VIB). Over the last couple decades, this organization has grown to represent over 340 members, including R&D-focused life sciences companies, universities, research institutes, and service providers. Lithuania's Ministry of Economy and Innovation has approved the Life Sciences Roadmap. This long-term development strategy for the #lifesciences sector is a further step on the road to achieving 5% of the GDP generated from biotechnology. In order to become the hub for lifesciences research Lithuania should implement highly targeted support programs and long-term measures, and consider market trends and emerging research and #innovation directions. These objectives were clearly mentioned when we were discussing the roadmap last year. In addition, the global market was discussed, with 90% of Lithuanian biotechnology production being exported to the US, Germany, the UK and other countries. While governments are taking different approaches to strengthening the healthcare sector, it has become clear to all that bolstering #global #collaboration between public and private stakeholders is critical. I’m glad that Lithuanian capital companies, both larger and smaller, such as Northway Biotech and Atrandi Biosciences | Droplet Genomics have finally started investing and opening their branches abroad - it’s clear that if we want to be industry leaders we need to go global. This is undoubtedly in line with the global #biotech trends, where governments across the world are focusing more intently on the development of the life sciences. The biopharmaceutical sector, from R&D to supply chain, and from manufacturing to commercialisation, is becoming more global, reaching new corners of the world.

The #biotechnology sector is a key sector for developing the Polish economy. With the largest economy in central Europe, Poland is attracting much interest from the #lifescience industry. Lithuania focused on building one of the leading #lifesciences centers in Europe. Psychedelic-producing yeast, tremor reduction balls, and leading gene-editing technology make for a bright life sciences sector in the region. The government has set a goal to have 5% of Lithuania’s GDP driven by the life sciences industry by 2030. Lithuania is located at the geographical center of Europe, so many foreign companies are opting to manufacture in the country. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁!📈 Sometimes, I feel like I enjoy living in Poland more than some people from Poland do. Some think that living in places like Germany or France is better. That might be true if you don't earn enough money. Or if you live in a small place. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗜, 𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱:  1. It's easy to see doctors quickly. For example, I can get a blood test anytime I want.💉  2. My kids got an operation fast. In Germany, we would wait much longer.  3. Schools here are good and free.📚  4. Living in Poland is affordable if you have a good job.  5. Stores are open late and on weekends. 🛒  6. Poland has beautiful nature that's not too crowded.  7. There are four seasons here - I even like the rainy days!🌧️🌤️  8. The cultural life is exciting.🎭  9. Many services are digital. Like apps for doctors and trips. 10. There's a fast train that goes from north to south. 11. There's a strong community of Biotech people.🔬 12. Poland is safe, even at night. 13. Taxes aren't too high. 14. Krakow has good connections to big cities in Europe. 15. The food is great, and there's a lot of it. 16. Getting fresh local food like veggies, fruits, and meat is easy.🍎🥕🥩 17. Many smart IT people are here, which brings investment and new companies. 18. More people start their own businesses. 19. I can take my kids out of school for travel if they go to school at least half the time.✈️🎒 20. Homeschooling is an option. 𝗢𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜 𝘀𝗮𝘆. But I like to see the good things in life. What do you like most about where you live?🏡💬

I invite you to learn about the 2️⃣0️⃣ most innovative Polish biotechnology companies in my opinion. As you can see, in Poland we have 5️⃣ regional hubs where the latest biotechnology solutions accumulate. The Polish #biotech market is characterized by its growing significance and technological complexity. According to the Central Statistical Office, there were more than 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ companies operating in the field of biotechnology in Poland in 2023 💡 As a rapidly evolving field, biotech encompasses a diverse range of activities, from pharmaceuticals and healthcare to vet, agriculture and environmental solutions. The technological complexity arises from the intricate processes involved in areas such as genetic engineering, molecular biology, and the development of biopharmaceuticals. Cutting-edge technologies are contributing to breakthroughs in personalized medicine and novel drug development 💊 In recent years, Poland has witnessed a notable surge in biotechnological advancements, with increased investments in research and development. Continued growth in the sector is driven by #collaboration between academia and industry, as well as strategic partnerships with global partners. The emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches and knowledge exchange has created an environment conducive to pushing the boundaries of biotechnological research. Challenges exist, including the need for skilled professionals, regulatory considerations, and access to funding. However, the dynamic landscape of the Polish biotechnology market reflects a commitment to overcoming these challenges and realizing the full potential of #innovation.
