Urgent action is needed to stop the rise in child trafficking, which has been particularly significant among girls over the last five years. A new UN report warns that global responses are not evolving quickly enough to match the scale and complexity of this growing crime. “Traffickers are adapting rapidly, taking full advantage of technological advancements and of the vulnerabilities created by crises, while responses continue to lag,” said Najat Maalla M’jid, Special Representative of UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children. Healthy, well-nourished children learn better. Yet every day, millions of children around the world attend school on an empty stomach. School meals provide children with a vital source of nutrition and the fuel needed to reach their full potential. Around the world, the World Food Programme is working to keep students fed so they can stay healthy and focus on their studies, including by providing take-home rations.
