🌟 Exciting Update from the STS Conference in Graz 2024! 🌟 We are pleased to share that Vanja Djinlev, Michael Brenner-Fliesser and I organized a session during the STS Conference in Graz, centered around the vital theme of "Energy Citizenship and Positive Energy Districts" (#PEDs). Following our presentation of research findings on energy citizenship representing the ENCLUDE project last year, we have taken the initiative to organize a session this year, delving deeper into this crucial topic! Main takeaways: 🔸 Roles of different #PED stakeholders in creation and development: multidimensional collaborations are key, employing various boundary-work strategies for cross-sectoral collaboration. 🔸 Engagement strategies: varying approaches by Member States in PEDs and #RECs creation, examining factors influencing new and existing member #engagement. 🔸 Cultural and individual differences in engagement levels: understanding these complexities is vital for replicability and rollout of successful RECs across Europe. 🔸 Role of innovative companies: Start-ups offer smart energy solutions, empowering residents with tools for intelligent decision-making and active participation in demand-response programs. 📌The workshop on Energy Decarbonization in Ghana aimed to address the challenges, opportunities, and potential solutions associated with transitioning towards sustainable and low-carbon energy systems in Ghana. 📍The workshop was organized in collaboration with UNIVERSITY OF ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES-UENR and AAMUSTED_GH as part of the ENCLUDE Work Package 3 case study in Africa. 🙏🏻Participants at the workshop included students, representatives from the energy sector, policymakers, academia, and civil society. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dH35Sq-P #encludeproject

#EuropeanGreenDeal aspires to leave no-one behind in the energy transition but faces many barriers. ENCLUDE along with ICLEI Europe, C40 Cities, REScoop.eu, and MAPP will discuss solutions to these barriers based on citizen engagement and inclusion at  #EUSEW2024! These suggestions will be based on the findings of ENCLUDE and 3 other Horizon 2020 projects (EC² - Clean Energy Transition, DIALOGUES Project, EnergyPROSPECTS) and the experience of the four participating networks of cities and citizens. Energy Citizenship unites! 💪💡 On March 5th, we united with three other Horizon projects for our final event in Brussels - Energy Citizenship in the Making. Over 50 participants from academia, policymaking, and civil society delved deep into the essence of energy citizenship and its role in shaping a sustainable future. Collaborating with DIALOGUES Project, ENCLUDE, and EnergyPROSPECTS, we launched "Energy Citizenship in the Making", a joint policy brief highlighting challenges and potential pathways to energy citizenship. Our Energy Citizen Empowerment Kits sparked meaningful conversations and connections among participants.
