If Only You Fell (If Only Series Book 2) Kindle Edition
Burying her husband found a way to bury her soul as well. Elody now lives for her kids. Her chance at love was lost the moment her husband took his last breath. She never saw her future by someone else’s side. The only thing she didn’t account for was the grumpy parent of one of her students.
Wyatt was never known for his warm personality. His world consisted of hockey and his daughter. The only issue was his daughter’s teacher took hold of his heart in an unexpected way.
When Elody and Wyatt’s worlds collide, Elody fights the love that blossoms because she doesn’t trust the harsh realities that come along with living. She can’t give her heart to another after all the pain she endured. She lived on top of the world and everything collapsed. Wyatt didn’t understand that reality.

If you have been looking for a book to give you a good cry, this is it! You will cry tears of sadness, heartbreak, and joy...along with all the feels in between.
Stefanie Castro wrote a beautiful story about what happens after heartbreak and losing the person you thought you were going to grow old with. Writing a character to weave throughout a story, that isn't actually present, isn't always easy to do, but Stefanie mastered it with this novel. Elody has promised she will never love anyone as she loved her late husband, while Wyatt is competing for Elody's heart against someone he will never meet. Beau is weaved through this story by memories, children, conversations, and heartache even.
I immensely enjoyed this book. As someone in their 40's it was nice to see main characters who are also "later in life". So see people in their 40s navigating life with children, life long friends, real world problems, and having a sensual drive isn't always easy to find. I could relate to these parents to a certain level. I could sympathize with Elody, as I couldn't imagine losing my husband at this point in time. I relished what Wyatt brought out Elody, because yes, 40 year olds still want intimacy, physical and emotional. I know, shocker right?!
Even the relationships that Elody and Wyatt leaned on were complex and deep. Stefanie went beyond the surface and gave this book layer upon layer upon layer. Old friendships, second chance friendships, and new friendships were as much part of this book as the romantic relationship budding between Wyatt and Elody. Even how to navigate the parents of a spouse lost and how that impacts the relationship. Stefanie included it all it did it beautifully!
This book is part of series, that yes, you can read as standalones, with some characters reprising roles in other stories. However, I recommend you read it from the beginning. The friendship between Elody and Becca is so strong and more of a sisterhood, that begins in book one.
As always review triggers before reading this book.

Whoooooooo did this one wreck me. I read If Only You Knew (book 1) right before, so everything with Elodie was fresh for me. It was heartbreaking, knowing that Beau was going to be gone, and the story just kept breaking my heart. Beau and Elodie had been together their whole lives, and it had always been sweet and easy. Simple and meant to be. But life has a way of throwing everything off kilter when you least expect it.
Years pass, and Ellie moves to New York City to be near Becca and away from all of the memories of Beau that threaten to pull her under. She moves locations, but never moves on, having promised Beau that she would always be his. She raises their children, always being strong and loving for them, but never really dealing with her pain and grief.
One night, out with her sister Laney as well as Becca, she finds her attention drawn to a man across the bar. Like magnets, they come together and share a moment, but then her guilt overpowers her and she runs away. It's totally understandable, since Beau was her life, that she would feel as though she'd cheated on him, but it made me so sad to see. As time goes on and she gets to know Wyatt, she continues to keep up a wall around her heart, convinced they can only ever be casual.
Elodie and Wyatt were clearly meant to be together, to love and challenge one another, but with her promise to Beau, she could never be all in with Wyatt. It was hard to watch her continually push him away all while he was falling more and more in love. I was on pins and needles, wondering if she'd ever open her heart to him, or if he'd end up walking away brokenhearted.
I read this all in one day. There was so much emotion and I was so invested in the characters, I simply couldn't put my phone down. I often read books that make me shed a tear or two, but this one had me full on bawling. I was sniffling and gasping and I still couldn't put it down; I needed to know how it would end up. Would she find a way to move forward, or would she let Wyatt walk away?
It's an observation of how love can change and grow, of how love lost doesn't mean love erased, and of how to move on in a new direction while honoring the old one. The past isn't going to be forgotten just because the future keeps coming. The writing in the story made it easy for me to put myself in Ellie's place and to understand how she could be feeling the ways she did. It was heartbreaking and also life affirming to read about Ellie, and to watch Wyatt and his daughter make their way into Ellie's and her kids' lives.
This isn't your typical hockey romance, it's so much more. Yes, there's spice and heat, as well as game time and travel, but there's also this exploration of love and loss, past and future, that gives it depth, and ensures that this will be a story that will stick with me for a long time, living in my head rent free.
Thank you so very much to the author and to The Author Agency for my gifted copy. I am extremely happy to share my honest opinion and review, and will be recommending this book for a long time to come.

However, fate intervenes in the form of Wyatt, a gruff parent with a passion for hockey and his daughter. The collision of Elody and Wyatt's worlds sparks a love neither anticipated.
Castro skillfully explores the complexities of overcoming grief, building a narrative rich in humor, heartfelt moments, and steamy encounters. Having read the first book, I found the seamless continuation heightened my experience. The characters' interactions resonate with authenticity, creating a story that tugs at heartstrings while illuminating the possibility of newfound joy.
“If Only You Fell" is a beautifully crafted love story, seamlessly blending emotional depth with moments of sunshine, delivering a tale that lingers in my heart.
