Overdose Education & Naloxone Distribution
Overview
Opioid overdose deaths are preventable. Through the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, community organizations and providers can receive free naloxone.
Naloxone (also known by brand name Narcan®) is a medicine that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose. Naloxone can quickly restore normal breathing to a person if their breathing has slowed or stopped because of an opioid overdose.

Overdose Education and Naloxone Training
Knowing how to respond to an overdose is an important skill that could help you save a life.
Online Training
This is a self-paced training that includes basic information on overdose prevention and includes training on how to administer naloxone. This training does not allow for those trained to train others.
In-Person/Virtual Training for Organizations
Train the Trainer sessions are ideal for organizations who would like to have their staff trained about overdose prevention, naloxone use, and distribution of naloxone. Organizational staff who receive this training can train others on how to administer naloxone and provide naloxone to those they train or serve. [Est. time: 2 hours*]
Community Layperson Training sessions are basic overdose prevention training for anyone in the community who would like to know how to administer naloxone. [Est. time: 1 hour*]
