Welcome to The Great Digi Scrap Off 4.0! My name is Femke (SPPP) and I am excited to host our Week #1 Technique challenge: No Photo, No problem! We are not requiring participants to pre-register this year. Just come and play along with us each week!
This week's challenge is all about creating an interesting scrapbook layout without pictures. That, by itself, is a big challenge, because in scrapbook the photos are the center of the design.
Nevertheless, you can very well scrapbook without photos if you approach the design differently. So instead of the photos, something else should become the centerpiece of your design. If you look at art journaling - one of my favorite types of expression - you will see that words and text plays a very prominent role within the subject joined by composition in the shape of texture, contrast and color.
For this challenge you have to create an interesting layout without using photos or similar images. You have to find the right balance between imagery (in this case papers and elements) and text (like textstrips, wordarts and your own written text).

So, with these pages as inspiration, your challenge for this week is to create a layout including a title, textstrips and a written piece combined with scrapbook papers and elements. The text and title are more important then de elements and papers.
In order to complete this week#1 Technique challenge you’ll have to:
- use at least 2 different textstrips.
- come up with an appropriate, catchy title
- write a piece of text (journal) and place it in a prominent place in your design.
- the rest is up to you, keep the composition in mind.
Here’s the layout I've created for this challenge:
The title is one plus one. I've used 4 textstrips and written a small
journal piece using Together templates kit by SPPP

Weekly Technical and Showstopper Challenges
The Technical and Showstopper challenges must use at least 75% current/active product in the PBP Shop in order to qualify for credit. Technical and Showstopper Challenges CANNOT be completed using the Use it All Mini Kit, Template or Mystery Box that is given with Signature Challenges.
All three challenges must be completed by the deadline each week in order to qualify for the weekly participation prize and to be considered for our weekly Star Scrapper Award.
Our Grand Prize will be awarded to one scrapper who completes all 15 challenges by the last week’s deadline. This means even if you don’t finish each week on time, you can still catch up to earn the remaining prizes and qualify for the Grand Prize!
