Where Are Our Republican Leaders On These Key Issues?

How Can We Get Their Attention?

Ocean Wind Turbines:  Wind energy can’t power a grid because it is too weak, intermittent, unstable, wasteful and expensive. Wind turbines also kill whales, birds, and industrialize recreational areas. That is why rest of world is turning to nuclear and natural gas.  However, Democrats in Congress earmarked nearly a third of their $1.9 trillion “American Rescue Plan” to wind, solar, and electric car projects.  They plan to install hundreds of giant wind turbines off the beaches of Long Beach Island, Brigantine, Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate, Longport, and Ocean City.

We raised public awareness and opposition last year. We shut down Orsted’s plans for 200 ocean wind turbines.  However, Democrat Governor Murphy is working with Biden Democrats to have new corporations build them.

What are our NJ and Atlantic County Republicans? Last May, a 7 to 2 Republican majority of Atlantic County Commissioners (previously known as freeholders) refused to oppose ocean wind turbines. Or even call for a moratorium!

Migrant Invasion:  Since 2018, New Jersey has been a “sanctuary” state. However, the term  “confederate” state is more appropriate.  Democrat Governor Murphy has ordered every law enforcement officer and agency in New Jersey to refuse to enforce federal immigration laws or cooperate with federal immigration officers.  This is a blatant violation of Article VI of U.S. Constitution. The refusal of states to comply with federal laws caused our last Civil War in 1861!  Last October, that same 7 to 2 Republican majority of Atlantic County Commissioners refused to support a simple resolution opposing that “sanctuary” status and urging Governor Murphy to comply with the U.S. Constitution. That resolution had been proposed by Republican County Executive Dennis Levinson.

Since then, Democrats led by President Biden have caused an invasion of America by more than eight million foreigners. In 1941, Nazi Germany almost conquered Russia with three million soldiers. Most of these “migrants” during the past two years have been taught since childhood to hate everything about America and our culture. They falsely blame America and Americans for the poverty and misery in their home countries.

Has any state or local Republican leader or official publicly demanded an end to this invasion? Has any of them publicly demanded the deportation of all illegals, whether they commit other crimes or not?

High Crime and “Bail Reform”:  In 2015, Democrats promoted and won a “Bail Reform” amendment to our NJ State Constitution. That makes it difficult for police to lock up dangerous criminals. It has caused big increases in crime, and death, injury, and property loss to countless citizens, including police and police departments? Has any state or local Republican leader or official publicly demanded the repeal of that 2015 “Bail Reform”? As any Republican State Senator or Assembly Member introduced legislation to repeal it?

State Borrowing, Spending, Toll And Tax Hikes:  Democrat Governor Phil Murphy proposed a new $56 NJ state budget with more debt, toll hikes, gas taxes, and direct and hidden tax increases. Some hidden taxes are in new “climate change” rules and laws that raise the cost of natural gas and electricity.  That raises prices on everything we buy, since everyone we buy from uses natural gas and electricity.  The Governor’s budget also raises taxes on New  Jersey’s 600 largest businesses that we all buy from. These taxes will bail out New Jersey Transit, our bankrupt, socialist, government owned train and bus monopoly.

Murphy Democrat budgets also raise property taxes in Republican suburbs.  The New Jersey state income tax was created in 1975 to create a “Property Tax Relief Fund”. It was supposed to cut property taxes for all real estate in New Jersey. However, Democrats give most of that money to school districts in a few dozen Democrat run towns.

Two years ago Atlantic County Republicans sabotaged efforts by state Republicans to campaign against reckless borrowing and spending by Murphy Democrats.  In 2022, Republican Senator Vince Polistina and Republican Assembly members Don Guardian and Claire Swift were the only New Jersey Republicans in the State Legislature to vote for Murphy’s 2022-2023 bloated  budget of $50.6 billion.  All three also voted for Murphy’s 2023-2024 budget of $54.5 billion.

Senator Polistina was re-elected to a four year term last November. Guardian and Swift are up for re-election next year.

Anyone who wants to change any of this by electing different candidates next year needs to start working now.  Politics is a team sport, not a horse race or a championship fight. It takes at least a year to build a winning team.

June Primary Elections:  Real change rarely comes from November elections.  In November, candidates chosen by  Republican and Democratic party leaders run against each other.

Real change normally takes place when established party leaders are challenged in June Primary Elections.  Candidates can get on the Primary election ballot without the support of party leaders by having voters sign their nominating petitions roughly two months before the June election.

However, getting on the ballot just gets a candidate to the starting line. To win a Primary Election, candidates must run as a team with other like-minded candidates. They must be bracketed together as a team or ticket on the same row or column.  Otherwise, their names will be in a remote section of the ballot where  few voters will even see their names.

Candidates supported by party leaders in Primary Elections always appear in the same column or row with the label “Regular Republican” or “Regular Democrat” under their names.

Last week, two Democrats filed a lawsuit in federal court to change that system. One is Democratic Congressman Andy Kim. The other is Carolyn Rush.

Kim represents most of Burlington and Ocean Counties in the U.S. House of Representatives. He is a candidate for the Democratic nomination to run for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Democrat Bob Menendez.  Kim’s main opponent is Tammy Murphy, the wife of NJ Governor Phil Murphy.

Carolyn Rush lives in Sea Isle City. She seeks the Democratic nomination to run against Republican Jeff Van Drew in the House of Representatives.  Their lawsuit claims that party leaders have too much power to “handpick” candidates under the current system. That system allows them to decide which candidates are selected for the “Regular Democrat” or “Regular Republican” column or row on the Primary Election ballot.
