Welcome to The Great Digi Scrap Off 4.0! I'm Chantal (chunlin designs) and I am excited to host our Week #3: GDSO Technique challenge - Ad inspiration!
We are not requiring participants to pre-register this year. Just come and play along with us each week!

For this week's technique challenge, we will search for scrapping inspiration in the world of advertising.
Pinterest is your best friend here. Find yourself an ad, book cover, printable, or poster that speaks to your imagination, and use something from it in your layout. It can be for example a shape, a main color or all colors, the typography that is used, or even the theme or part of the theme. It can be anything really, as long as it is part of the ad you have chosen.

Here are some examples (you don’t need to use one of these but you can):

adchallenge2.jpg

Let's start! I found this ad interesting: The big title, the white space, the journaling on the left ...

For my layout, I chose to use my collection Spice of Life

I split the background in two by using two different papers. I loved the big title, so I used a very soft "friends" on the white space and a word art, and the rest just fell into place :)

and voilà, it's your turn!
Are you up for this challenge?

To complete this week#3 Technique challenge you’ll have to:
1. find an ad that inspires you
2. create your layout using one or several references from the ad
3. post your ad and layout here in this thread with a small explanation of what you used from the ad.
4 and most important. HAVE FUN!!!
5. Oh yes... and follow the rules below!

General Rules

Your pages for each challenge must be new pages in order to qualify for credit. You cannot use PBP Team Challenge layouts for GDSO layout completion. All GDSO layouts must be posted in our GDSO gallery with proper credit given. See our PDF guide!

Specific Rules for Signature Challenges
Use It All Challenge
: You must use ALL and ONLY the items in the mini kit. The 75% PBP Rule does not apply to this challenge.
Template Challenge: You must use current PBP Products for your challenge layouts (and the template).
Mystery Box Challenge: You must only use the contents of this Mystery Box for your layout.
Living in: Hope Collab Challenge: You must use only our Living in: Hope Designs. You should have several parts of the collab already, if you have been playing along with us.

BBD Challenge: You can only use our March BBD products

Weekly Technical and Showstopper Challenges
The Technical and Showstopper challenges must use at least 75% current/active product in the PBP Shop in order to qualify for credit. Technical and Showstopper Challenges CANNOT be completed using the Use it All Mini Kit, Template or Mystery Box that is given with Signature Challenges.

All three challenges must be completed by the deadline each week in order to qualify for the weekly participation prize and to be considered for our weekly Star Scrapper Award.

Our Grand Prize will be awarded to one scrapper who completes all 15 challenges by the last week’s deadline. This means even if you don’t finish each week on time, you can still catch up to earn the remaining prizes and qualify for the Grand Prize!

Start a post in the GDSO Challenge Tracking thread
Keep this up to date with links to the layouts that you’ve completed and uploaded to the GDSO gallery. Please make sure you are linking to your page IN THE GDSO GALLERY, not the thread post in the challenge.

Final deadline for all layouts is April 4 @11:59pm ET. At that time the tracking thread will be locked, the final weekly prizes will be sent, and winners will be contacted by April 7.

For my ad inspiration, I used RETHINK from your examples.

Journaling reads:
This is a small slice of our vacation. We stayed just outside Akumal Mexico at a small villa in the jungle. The weather was wonderful and so was the beach.

I was inspired by the first add on your examples. I love the idea of splitting a photo into sections (when I can find a photo that works). And that turquoise color is one of my favorites.

I loved the ad in your inspiration "Feed your good" (lower right), so I used that as my inspiration. I was most inspired by the large, fun font used for the title and the food extraction.
Thanks for the challenge!

Thank you for the challenge. It was fun and I have now found another great source for layout designs.

I liked the way the letters stretched off the page and that I could change the words to suit my picture.
Your page is stunning! Your typography work is simply amazing! And I just loooove that effect! Thank you so much for showing us this and for your participation in my challenge :)
