Welcome to The Great Digi Scrap Off 4.0! My name is Glori and I am excited to host our "My Lucky Charm" challenge!

We are not requiring participants to pre-register this year. Just come and play along with us each week!

For this challenge You will need to create a double page spread (24" x 12") layout. One side must contain at least 2 photos of your lucky charm (child, spouse, rabbit’s foot, etc – something or someone that you consider makes you lucky in life). The other side must contain a title and the journaled story behind why the what or who is your lucky charm.

For my layout, I used "Nest {My Heart is Your Home" by HSA (Heartstring Scrap Art).

General Rules
Your pages for each challenge must be new pages in order to qualify for credit. You cannot use PBP Team Challenge layouts for GDSO layout completion. All GDSO layouts must be posted in our GDSO gallery here: https://pickleberrypop.com/forum/media/categories/the-great-digi-scrap-off-2022.1158/ with proper credit given. See our PDF guide!

Specific Rules for Signature Challenges
Use It All Challenge
: You must use ALL and ONLY the items in the mini kit. The 75% PBP Rule does not apply to this challenge.
Template Challenge: You must use current PBP Products for your challenge layouts (and the template).
Mystery Box Challenge: You must only use the contents of this Mystery Box for your layout.
Living in: Hope Collab Challenge: You must use only our Living in: Hope Designs. You should have several parts of the collab already, if you have been playing along with us.

BBD Challenge: You can only use our March BBD products

Weekly Technical and Showstopper Challenges
The Technical and Showstopper challenges must use at least 75% current/active product in the PBP Shop in order to qualify for credit. Technical and Showstopper Challenges CANNOT be completed using the Use it All Mini Kit, Template or Mystery Box that is given with Signature Challenges.

All three challenges must be completed by the deadline each week in order to qualify for the weekly participation prize and to be considered for our weekly Star Scrapper Award.

Our Grand Prize will be awarded to one scrapper who completes all 15 challenges by the last week’s deadline. This means even if you don’t finish each week on time, you can still catch up to earn the remaining prizes and qualify for the Grand Prize!

Start a post in the GDSO Challenge Tracking thread
Keep this up to date with links to the layouts that you’ve completed and uploaded to the GDSO gallery. Please make sure you are linking to your page IN THE GDSO GALLERY, not the thread post in the challenge.

Final deadline for all layouts is April 4 @11:59pm ET. At that time the tracking thread will be locked, the final weekly prizes will be sent, and winners will be contacted by April 7.

Thanks @Glori2 (Glori) for this Show Stopper challenge. I don’t often do a 2-page spread. At least not intentionally. So, this initially was a bit of a challenge. But once I picked my “lucky charm” it was so much easier. The photos are mine. Everything else (including the templates) is from “Fresh Sea Breeze” by Heartstrings Scrap Art (HSA). Fonts used: Andrew Script & Nouradilla Regular.

Journaling: Déjà vu literally means "already seen". We’ve probably all experienced déjà vu before at some point in our lives. Science tries to claim that déjà vu is some kind of neurological dissonance. Others believe it is revealing of past life experience.

In conflict with my religious upbringing, I’ve always felt strongly that reincarnation was real. I’ve always had an affinity for water and lighthouses which is odd because I’ve lived in landlocked southwest Ohio for my entire life and never near any major body of water. As a young girl, I grew up around a swimming pool and remember being quite happy. Growing older our family camped a lot, always near a lake. Again – happy memories of those times. And I love seafood; certainly not typical for a native “Buckeye”. Additionally, like so many people, I have ALWAYS had strong déjà vu experiences.

In the mid 80’s I had something happen to me that solidified my belief. My boyfriend (Gary) and I traveled to New England – specifically Boston, Massachusetts (at least initially). This trip was HUGE for me in many ways: 1st trip with him; 1st trip on a plane; 1st trip to what many call the “birthplace of freedom”; 1st trip to a seaport city. You get the picture. Anyway, as part of our time in the metro Boston area, Gary took me to the Gloucester, MA area on Cape Ann and a lovely little town called Rockport. We stayed at a lovely inn on “Bass Rocks” bay. I was completely captivated by the stunning views -- complete with twin lighthouses (Thacher Island). It was breathtaking – literally!!!! No, I mean that in the most literal sense. Upon setting foot on Bass Rocks “beach” I was overcome by the most amazing feeling of having “come home”. I honestly couldn’t catch my breath. It’s impossible for me to completely or adequately describe exactly how I felt (and still do today) at being on that beach. I was enveloped by the strongest sense of peace and well-being I’ve ever had ANYWHERE!!! There was no question in my mind I had been there…no lived there before. And I was home – and gloriously happy. Gary tried to “take credit” for my euphoria. He’s a jokester like that LOL! But I’ve been to the Rockport, Cape Ann, Bass Rocks area without him and have the exact same feeling. Part of me feels like that is where I belong. Whenever I have deeply stressful times in my life, I have a longing to return to the sea…specifically to that area which feels like home. But, in a pinch Lake Michigan has been known to calm my soul!

I know I talked mostly about the ocean but it’s kind of hard to call the ocean a lucky charm, right? I also mentioned lighthouses. No question, there is something very special about my attachment to lighthouses. Again, I can only suspect that it has something to do with a past life. If I had to pick a lucky charm it would be a lighthouse. I even have one on my license plate. Yes, we do have some in Ohio…just not anywhere near me. And there are so many songs with lighthouse themes. One of my favorites is a Christian song, “Keep The Light On” by David Leonard. And the most compelling line in that song is: “I’d be lost without Your lamp unto my feet.” A very good reason to consider a lighthouse my lucky charm!

Glori, thank you for hosting. A bit challenging for me. I have never had any real lucky charms but feel strongly about the pictures and journaling on my page. ♥ I hope I am within the rules.
Journaling:
In my life there are a couple of things that I have considered ‘lucky charms’ or symbols of remembrance such as elephants and rabbits. But no things have been as charming or brought me as much luck and love as my husband, children and grandchildren.

Thank you Glori for Week 3 – Show Stopper challenge. This one was way out of my comfort zone as I never do a double page spread, put it this way not of my own accord. Anyway here is my take, hope it is by the rules. I started with the basis of 2 templates – MDD – Everything else is a mixture between – Always and Forever – Akizo – Nest My Heart Is Your Home – HSA – Photos – mine – Fonts – Agency – Deciso – Great Vibes

So many awesome layouts created here...if I'm able (and most I have been able) to read your journaling it just warms my heart to read such heartfelt words!!

Keep'em comin'!! You all have done a GREAT job, even if you had a tough time wrapping your thoughts around a 2-page layout! ;)

Journaling reads:
Noni and I have been best friends for more than 50 years. We have raised our families and counted many milestones along the way. She always made the good times better and bad times easier. I am fortunate to have such an amazing friend with whom I've shared many great memories. She knows me well... and loves me just the same. I have been so lucky to have her in my life.
She is truly the sister of my heart.
