🛠️ Final preparations for Breakbulk 2024 With only two weeks left until Breakbulk 2024 at Rotterdam Ahoy, we are working on our final preparations for the world’s largest breakbulk & project cargo event, held right here in the Netherlands. At Breakbulk, we will team up with Insure Marine Underwriting to show you how we are going to redefine maritime insurance excellence. We look forward to meeting with existing members and clients, as well as the opportunity to meet new partners in the industry. This past Friday the NNPC welcomed Masters students from the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam to our office in Haren. After a lunch we gave a presentation about the NNPC, the role of P&I insurance and the legal aspects of claims handling. 🚢 UPDATE: SECURITY SITUATION IN THE GULF OF ADEN 🚢 Over the past month, we've witnessed multiple attacks on ships in the Gulf of Aden originating from Yemen. Just recently, Houthi rebels launched an attack on the container ship "MSC Darwin." These incidents underscore the rebels' capability to execute attacks throughout the entire Gulf of Aden, leading to a significant decrease in commercial maritime traffic. If navigating through the Gulf of Aden is unavoidable, we urge you to refer to our circular of January 5, 2024, for prevention advice. Additionally, we recommend timely contact with MSCHOA as part of Operation Aspides by EUNAVFOR. MARITIME OPERATIONS UPDATE - CURRENT SITUATION IN ISRAELI PORTS 🚢 We wish to provide an update on the current status of Israeli ports. While operations are ongoing, we advise members to remain vigilant due to ongoing uncertainties in the region. Additionally, there have been reports of GPS malfunctions affecting Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS). Here's a breakdown for each port: 📍 Port of Haifa: No direct security issues reported presently, although past congestion due to diverted traffic has been resolved. 📍 Port of Ashdod: Operations continue without direct security issues, but certain restrictions on hazardous materials handling are in place. Please verify these restrictions with your shipping agents and port authorities. 📍 Port of Ashkelon: Currently operational without restrictions, but past closures due to attacks warrant caution. Seek appropriate advice before planning any calls to Ashkelon. Lastly, we advise members to check for additional insurance requirements before making port calls. ⚓ Onze vloot tijdens WO2: Door de Duitsers in beslag genomen ⚓ Geroofde koopvaardijschepen, Engelandvaarders, heldendaden of roemloos ten onder – de Nederlandse kust- en binnenvaart kreeg tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog heel wat te verduren. NNPC duikt in de Databank Koopvaardijpersoneel 1940 - 1945 om deze historie te ontdekken! ⛓️ In deel 2 bekijken we de schepen die door de Duitsers werden opgeëist. Vaartuigen nog in aanbouw, boten aan de Franse kust; niemand ontkwam eraan. De schepen werden daarna ingezet voor trainingsdoeleinden en transport.
