After the way she broke me, I’ve made one promise to myself: never again will I put my heart out there. Apparently she loved me, but that still didn’t stop her from doing what she did and frankly, I’m done with relationships, and I’m done with searching for love when it has no interest in finding me. After the hit I took last season, I plan to focus on rehabilitation and getting my mind back into the game I’ve loved for so many years. I don’t need distractions, and I don’t need another woman in my bed or my head. I’ve got enough complications to last me a lifetime. But I didn’t expect her sunshine, and I wasn’t prepared for the way Luna Johnson has worked her way into my heart and thawed its frosty state. I keep trying to resist her, knowing this will only end badly—she’s one of my oldest friends, and I have to keep it that way. But man am I attracted to her, and the more we reconnect, the more I feel the happiness that’s been missing from my life for so long. Luna wants more, I know she does. And dammit I want to give her everything and not just the broken pieces I have to offer—it’s what she deserves. If only I wasn’t so scared of getting hurt again or, worse still, pulling her down with me. I’ve got baggage and people in my life who want anything but my happy ending, and I know they aren’t afraid to hurt Luna to get to me. I’d convinced myself the stars will never align, and slowly, I’ve accepted that too. But perhaps my heart is safe this time, and maybe I can take a chance on love again? If it’s going to be with anyone, it has to be with Luna Johnson.

Honestly, you cant go wrong with a six foot five hockey player with tattoos 🔥 If I had to choose a favorite book boyfriend that I’ve read this year Zach would 100% be top 5. He is such a good guy with the sweetest heart. Luna is this bubbly FMC with the funniest personality. I loved that she just did and took exactly what she wanted. I felt like I could relate so much with her character and the way she learned to listen to her heart instead of her head.
The sexual tension throughout the whole book was so FREAKING GOOD! The scene after painting the ceiling had me swooning 🥵🔥
The author did such a great job with the side characters, I wish I had Jensens book NOW 😍 fall needs to hurry up!
Also I wanted to punch Aime in the face anytime she came up in the book 😂.

READ THIS BOOK!!!
Thank you Ruth for the ARC! I’ve been such a fan ever since reading Boarded Hearts and you have done such an amazing job with this book and series! ❤️
Zach is basically the perfect guy every girl dreams of ❤️
I absolutely loved Frozen Over! It’s a friends-to-lovers romance that had me swooning the whole time. Zach is a hockey player who’s had a tough time with love, and Luna is an art teacher who’s had feelings for him forever but never made a move. Watching them finally get together was so much fun!
Zach is totally head over heels for Luna—he’s tattooed, pierced, and just hooked on her. Luna is a total firecracker and isn’t shy about speaking her mind, which was so refreshing. She’s exactly what Zach needs and isn’t afraid to put him in his place.
The book also shows the challenges of their long-distance relationship, with Zach playing hockey across the country and Luna balancing her job at home. It was great to see Jon and Felicity again and how Luna’s new friends welcomed her with open arms. And, oh, let’s not forget the spice—Zach’s dirty talk will definitely make you blush.
I’m so excited for Jensen’s story next! Highly recommend this book!
Read this if you like: 🏒 She falls first, he falls harder 🏒 Tattooed & pierced MMC 🏒 No third act breakup 🏒 Grumpy x sunshine
🚨🚨 TW: Manipulative/vindictive ex, parental neglect, cheating (not between MCs)
Ruth has done it AGAIN. I find it impossible to not fall in love with her characters.
I thought I loved Boarded Hearts but Frozen Over has taken that top spot.
Tropes: 🚀friends to lovers 💙one bed 🚀found family 💙grumpy x sunshine 🚀no third act breakup 💙she falls first but he falls harder 🚀friends’s ex 💙he has a pierced dick😏
This book explores learning to trust again after a previous bad relationship. It also follows the journey of falling in love with the person you’ve least expected and has secretly liked you all along.
While friends to lovers is one of my least favourite tropes, I feel like it was done so well in this book. Zach and Luna had more of a “friends with benefits” arrangement for most of the story but still caught feeling along the way. It was also very much a “let’s make the most of this while we can” moment since Zach had to go back to Seattle after the summer.
Firstly, I found Luna so relatable. Have you ever read about an fmc and thought “that’s so me.”? Because that’s exactly how I felt with Luna. She struggles to make friends, keeps to herself & is always overthinking situations. Despite being like this, Luna was also a strong individual who knew exactly what she wanted when it came to Zach. It was nice to see her confidence grow throughout the book.
Don’t get me started on Zach. That man had me BLUSHING. I’m sorry but he has a pierced dick???? Kinda need that in my life now🫠. Godddddd the mouth on that man!!! He was such a sweetheart on top of all his sexiness. I loved how much he cared about Luna & always put her first. Zach struggled with his mental health during the first book & part of this book so it was nice to see him heal. He also learned how to trust again after a bad experience.
Found family is a huge thing in Ruth’s books! I love the Scorpions’s guys as well as the gals. When it came to Luna moving and visiting Seattle, Kate and Felicity took her under their wing & immediately made her feel so welcome. I loved getting to see Luna make friends after feeling lonely back home.
Amie is a straight up bitch who deserved everything that came to her!! If there was ever a character you’d want to punch in the face then it’d be her. When Amie tried to tear Zach and Luna apart, the whole group always had their backs.
Overall, I loved this book & I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I really like this world and was excited to get to read the reawakening of Zach Evans! I liked these characters a lot. I also liked the snippets we got of Jon and Felicity and then Kate and Jensen (their book is going to be epic- I just KNOW it!). Zach is a bit broken at the beginning of this book. Not necessarily in grump mode but definitely closed off. Watching him unravel and open up with Luna was wonderful! It's like he realized that he had been looking at women wrong the whole time. She was supportive and pushy and had great energy. Meanwhile Luna gets the chance she never got with Zach. I have to say I got a LITTLE bit annoyed with how she tried to push Zach away BUT at the same time get it was for the right reasons (at least in her head).
What a s**t show the end of last season was for Zach. The woman he thought he loved tells him she is pregnant but that it might not be his. So Zach spirals. He moves home to Florida to fix up his house there. He has no expectations but to get better after a terrible injury and lick his wounds. What he doesn't expect is Luna Johnson. The girl he kind of had a crush on back in the day before she started dating his friend. The girl who has volunteered to help him fix up his house. The girl he can't stop thinking about even though he knows he has nothing to offer right now. But then as the summer goes on that starts to shift. He can picture a future with her. She is his sunshine. She makes him feel like himself again. She is supportive and everything he wants in a partner, but then she says they have to go back to being just friends. He doesn't know if that is possible with the summer they have just experienced together. He decides that he will take what she will give but his goal is going to be to get her to move to Seattle. He is determined to show her what she means to him which is the world. Will it be enough though?
Luna is on summer break and to her surprise Zach Evans is home. The Zach Evans that she has been crushing on for forever. The one she has kind of just thrown herself at by offering to help him fix up his house this summer. The one that is starting to look at her differently than he used to. Does he feel it too? This chemistry brewing between them. She makes her move and it pays off. But she has to remind herself it is only for the summer. They live on opposite coasts. She doesn't want to hold him back anymore than he already has been. She wants to be supportive of him not a hinderance. But then she realizes that is all a lie because she wants him. She just has to decide if she should listen to her heart or reason?
This was a fast paced read with a medium burn. Their chemistry was fantastic. Zach was the absolute best book boyfriend. He treated his woman like a QUEEN even when she was "just his friend." I cannot wait for more from these characters and this world- next is Kate and Jensen. And as we all know there is a fine line between love and hate LOL. Hope you guys enjoy this one!
WOW. Zach Evans is just chefs kiss.🤌🏼Let me start out by saying I was absolutely GONE for Jon Morgan in Boarded Hearts. I read it directly before reading Frozen Over and loved being able to dive right into the second book. Did I think I would love this book more than BH, nope sure didn't, but here we are. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and giving Ruth a play by play in her DMs of all the feels while reading. We had a blast 😂
Zach Evans is a defenseman for the Seattle Scorpions and after a nasty hit last hockey season he ends up moving to his vacation home in his hometown to focus on rehabilitation and getting his mind back to where he needs to be for the game he has always loved. He also is dealing with the fallout of a relationship that he swore off of ever being in another relationship again where he would put himself in the position to get his heart broken again. Until he runs into his high school friend on the first night back home at a beach barbecue.
I can't tell you how much I loved these two, individually and as a couple. I felt for Zach at the end of Boarded hearts. He was put through the wringer and he just wanted to find his soulmate and he was the biggest cinnamon roll. Let’s not forget he's a tall, broody, tattooed AND pierced man, hot damn. YES PLEASE. He is so swoony but also the mouth on this man 🥵 Luna is introverted and has always kept to herself for the most part with a love for space and astronomy and has been pining for Zach for years. She never thought that she ever had a chance with him and took a leap and offered to help him remodel the vacation house he bought. The banter between these two was hands down one of my favorite parts of this book. I laughed out loud so many times and it's just one of those feel good romances you so easily love.
They took everything in stride and I loved that Zach never pushed Luna into anything but he made sure she knew how he felt. His ex tried to threaten their relationship multiple times but there was nothing that was going to come between these two. Luna was supportive of Zach when he struggled getting back to playing hockey and proved she was going to be there for him no matter what. The friendship Luna formed with Felicity and Kate, LOVE. These two both deserved love and found the happily ever after they both wanted and more importantly deserved.
You definitely need to add this book to your TBR! You won't regret it.
Tropes - high school friends to lovers - pro hockey romance - tattooed & spierced MMC - he's a bit grumpy, and she's sunshine - all the swoony moments and banter - one bed moment - MCs in their 30s - no third act breakup
Thank you wordsmith publicity and Ruth Stilling for the opportunity to read this as an ARC in exchange for my honest review!
okay....so I made it to 60% of this one and even that far was a struggle for me. This one was really disappointing. I was highly anticipating this one after the first one blew me away.
I just didn't connect with these characters. I mean the MMC saying he doesn't want to pursue anything with the FMC bc he just got out of a relationship and then literally the next chapter they get together. And the FMC being like it's fine I have always had a thing for you so it's fine to hook up. Just gave me major ick and read very immature to me. I mean I think these characters are supposed to be older...but honestly they were acting like a bunch of HS kids and it was just a no for me.
𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 did it again! She stole my whole dang heart and that shouldn’t be possible considering she definitely already had it after I experienced Jon Morgan in 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬.
We met Zach in Jon’s book and he wasn’t in the best place. This book starts up right in the middle of the drama. Zach goes back to his childhood town to work on a house he bought for his ex-girlfriend so that he can sell it after she cheats on him. There, he begins spending more time with his childhood friend, Luna. She’s always been off limits because she dated his best friend in high school.
Luna has pined over Zach for years. Now he’s back in town and she can’t stay away from him. As they get closer over the summer, Luna tries to warm Zach’s heart and heal his trauma.
Zach Evan’s is one hell of a book boyfriend! This man is struggling, but he is still hopelessly drawn to Luna. Together they are an unstoppable force. I love a good “f*** it” moment and when Zach finally gives in to his feelings, this book went off the charts with spice.
If you love a friends to lovers story where she falls first and he has a wicked mouth, go add 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐳𝐞𝐧 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, to your TBR today!
I loved getting to see Jon & Felicity again. Jon Morgan is the OG DOWN BAD MMC. This man walking around calling her wife before they were even married was the BEST! 💍
JJ & Kate are up next in the series! Their book, 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫 comes out 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 26𝐭𝐡! I can’t freaking wait. 🥹
“I orbit around you, Luna.” 🙂 AYUDA, EL CRINGEEEE. Estuvo bien, fue entretenido, pero la historia es muy mediocre. Y el conflicto a 10 páginas de terminar era totalmente INNECESARIO.
Zack and Luna are everything. This book is everything, and I swear Ruth could write out her grocery list and I would be begging to read it. I loved Jon Morgan, but Zack Evans came in and just said "move over buddy, they are going to love me now."
And love him I did. It’s always the broken ones. I swear you dangle a broken boy at me and I’m going to want to tear down the world for him. Zack Evans is tattooed, pierced and kinda broody, but he has the absolute sweetest soul, and I needed him to have a happily ever after with someone who really saw him! Ans that was Luna… who is one of my favorite FMCS I’ve read in a while. I LOVED HER! I LOVED THEM! *insert me making actual 😍 here*
TROPES ✨ Friends to Lovers ✨ Broken Hero ✨ Hockey Romance ✨ Friend's Ex ✨ She Falls First/ He Falls Harder ✨ Pierced MMC
Zack and Luna have been friends since high school, and they reconnect when Zack goes home a the off season after having his entire world shaken up. Luna is patient and kind with him and then all of a sudden, he's looking at her in the way she always hoped. But their lives are in two different places, even though they are exactly what each other needs.
Ruth writes these adorable sweetheart MMCs that have the absolute filthiest mouths, and Zack is no exception. the mouth on this man is hot as lava. Like I needed a hose turned on me after reading this because I was overheating.
Luna was such a great balance to Zack and exactly what he needed, and I loved how relatable she was while she let him heal and open up to her. They were everything, and those moments of trust between them... I was crying. I was so in my feels, Ruth writes emotion so well and I will always and forever want more.
When I read Boarded Hearts, I immediately connected with Zach. I felt so bad for him. He's a cinnamon roll who just wanted to find the love of his life. Only to be gaslit by Amie, who cheated on him and then claimed she was pregnant which then landed him in the hospital. Talk about getting beat up when you have already been knocked down so I was so excited to for his happy ever after because this man deserves it!
I absolutely loved Zach and Luna both individually and as a couple. I loved how Zach is this cinnamon roll hockey playter who is tattooed and pierced (it's always the ones you least expect). But what I loved most? Luna! Luna is such a different FMC. She's that quiet girl from school who was into space and astronomy. She's introverted and has been pining for Zach since high school but she never thought her crush on him would ever amount to anything. But fast forward years later when they are reunited for a summer while Zach recovers in the off season and our girl goes for what she wants! Luna showed no fear and pursued Zach, which was so nice to see.
Throughout this whole book, I couldn't stop smiling. It made my heart so full. It made me feel good. And honestly it's the exact story I wanted Zach to have. I am so happy that these two got the happy ever after they both deserve!
You should most definitely add this one to your TBR if you like: - Hockey Romance - High School Friends to Lovers - Friend's Ex - She Falls First but He Falls HARDER - One Bed - Found Family - Tattooed and Pierced MMC - MC's in their 30's - Lots of Spice, Swoon and Banter
* I would like to say THANK YOU to Ruth Stilling and Wordsmith Publicity for allowing me to read Frozen Over as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review!
- Childhood friend’s ex - Sports romance (hockey) - She falls first, but he falls harder - Found family - He’s a little grumpy, she’s the sunshine
This is the second book in the Seattle Scorpions series. It can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading book one, Boarded Hearts, first because 1) I absolutely adored that book and 2) you get some backstory to Zach and how he got into the situation he is in.
Overall I thought this one was okay. I think my expectations were set a bit too high because of how much I loved the first book in the series. I don't have a specific reason, but I wasn't a huge fan of Luna. Her character felt immature and came across as a little desperate at times.
»I'm going to be your perfect fit, and for the record, I think we might ruin each other. But I'm not about to break you, Luna. You mean too much to me.«

❥ 𝑳𝒖𝒏𝒂 𝜗𝜚˚⋆ She was cute although had too less backbone for my liking.
❥ 𝒁𝒂𝒄𝒉 ࣪⋆✮ Liked him but he was too nice to his very annoying ex girlfriend. Still he treats Luna well and is a doting boyfriend.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 I really liked this book. It was funny, fluffy and just a feel good romance. The plot is entertaining but Zachs ex girlfriend was mentioned way too much and brought too much drama with her. Not gone lie this was kinda funny but in the end just fucking annoying. Luna and Zach have good tension and I liked them together. The friends to lovers trope was well done and I was happy they communicated and talked properly like real adults. It was refreshing to read a book were the main characters are for real adults and were is no miscommunication trope. Overall this was an enjoyable read.

“I came back to Florida, swearing off love for a lifetime. Everything had frozen over: my heart, my head, my fucking life. But you melted every part with your sunshine. I fucking love you, Luna Johnson.” ☀️
Now that is how you profess your love! ❤️
I’d been anxiously awaiting Frozen Over since the moment I finished Boarded Hearts, Ruth’s debut novel. This follow up continues to follow the Seattle Scorpions hockey teammates (we love that for us), this time focused on Zack Evans, defenseman, best friend to Jon from BH and a tattooed god with a heart of gold.
Zack and our amazing FMC Luna were high school friends who have kept in sporadic touch over the years. When Zack returns to Florida for his offseason to recover from his nearly career-ending injury we witnessed in Boarded Hearts, he reconnects with Luna, who is smitten with him immediately (and clearly always has been). While our girl falls first, Zack falls HARD.
What ensues is a story that is so well-developed and full of depth, I couldn’t put this book down, finishing it in under a day. Ruth’s writing is addicting to read in all the best ways!
Zack and Luna have an incredible summer of amazing chemistry and closeness, but always with the shadow of their eventual parting weighing on them — Zack has to go back to Seattle and Luna’s life is in Florida where she’s a teacher.
When their time is up, neither one wants things to end — though Luna makes the hard decision to pull back. My heart ached for these two — their connection was soul-deep and I couldn’t help but root for them to find their way.
And ultimately, they do — in the most swooney, amazing conclusion to the story.
We get all the exceptional storytelling and spice we could ever ask for in this story. We get the loving inclusion of characters we grew to adore in BH (Jon, Felicity, Kate, Jensen and others). We get angst and found family and a touch of grumpy/sunshine.
We get all of this and more from this incredible book that lives up to the standard set by the first book in the series and in my view, maybe even levels up a bit (which is saying something because I adore BH)!
This book is stunning. Exceptional. Perfect.
Endless thanks to Ruth Stilling for this ARC — I was overjoyed to read Zack and Luna’s story. 🫶
This series has become one of my absolute favourites. I adore Ruth’s writing style so much and she creates the most amazing characters 🥰
Zach Evans is perfection. He’s tough on the ice but off the ice he’s such a golden retriever with the biggest heart and I can’t even explain how much I love him 😭 The way he cares for Luna had me in a puddle 🫠 He braids her hair!! 😩🤭 There are so many cute moments in this book and I was giggling and smiling the whole way through. Luna Johnson is adorable. She’s quirky and bright and her banter with Zach really made me smile. I loved seeing their relationship blossom and grow 🥰
I really loved Luna’s relationship with the girls. They have such a strong bond and friendship. Seeing Jon Morgan and Felicity again made me so happy 😭 I missed them 🥹
I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3. I am so exciting to see Jensen and Kate’s story 😍
*I received an arc in exchange of an honest review*
Oh my goodness this was EVERYTHING!! The writing, the plot, the characters, the romance, Ruth has once again delivered an amazing, fun, spicy, emotional & heartfelt hockey romance & I couldn’t be more obsessed with this series! Zach & Luna have absolutely stolen my heart & they were absolutely perfect for each other! Friends to lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes & this was everything I wanted it to be 💙
ZACH MF EVANS 😮💨🔥 oh my lenta, the mouth on that man. I was BLUSHING. He also had me giggling & kicking my feet like an absolute FOOL & he’s officially taken the number spot & I’m absolutely obsessed with him (Sorry, Jon. Still love you too though 🫶🏻). He also has the absolute biggest heart & will go above and beyond for the people he loves. The way he cared for Luna, encouraged her & cherished her had me smiling & made my heart so happy 🥹 He starts the book broken, unable to trust, feeling lost, not sure if he will ever be able to open up to anyone or love someone truly but Luna slowly breaks downs his walls & shows him he is worthy of love & all good things!
And Luna??!! Oh my goodness how I absolutely loved her! She was fun, bubbly and so incredibly supportive & understanding of Zach’s fears & insecurities. She truly gave him the space to feel & heal and I love her for that. There were so many moments in the story were I related to her on so many levels, it was impossible not to fall in love with her & root for her and Zach ✨
This series has become one of my absolute favorites & I need everyone to add this to their TBR asap! So excited for book 3 & I have a feeling I’m gonna be just as obsessed with JJ & Kate 🤭

Final rating: 4.5 ⭐️ 2.5 🌶️
Thank you to Ruth Stilling & Wordsmith Publicity for the ARC, this is my honest review!
I read this book to see if the majority of it was taken from other author’s books like Boarded Hearts was.
The story was full of plot hole after plot hole, characters who are apparently in their 30s but act like they’re about 13, and terrible pacing. The reader is constantly told things but never actually shown them, so it’s not believable and you can’t connect with or feel anything for the characters. They don’t seem to have any chemistry and sometimes they apparently have history yet other times they don’t.
Random stuff about the characters was clearly influenced by other books from other authors, and just didn’t make sense in the context of the story. It read like someone jotted down a load of things they liked from other books and then tried to just stick them together to create a story without even attempting to join them into something that made sense.
My favorite things are in this book. Friends to lovers and hockey!
Luna was your everygirl. I felt she had so much in common with girls as a whole. Instead of being model perfect, she felt normal (in the best way!) And someone who could be my friend. Although it wasn't a big part of the story I loved that she was a teacher. And the best friends ex. And also the fact that she had some unrequited feelings going on. We've all been there!
Zach has been burned. And I mean burned BAD. Hurt by someone and then also that persons sleeping with your girl?! Woof. He's been knocked out and really not ready to get back in the ring. I think that this was a great romance, because it was built on friendship.
We also see our characters from book 1. Jon is so mad for Felicity. So mad for her he wants everyone else coupled up too!
I won't tell about who's book 3 but there is some delicious tension between the couple. I can't wait!
so might be controversial but imma just put it out there, the entire 3⭐ are for zach and zach alone (he deserves the world)
i just couldn't get behind luna's personality at all and by that i mean i DID NOT like her, she just gave off major cringe energy with the whole stalker-y personality, the overt affection even when she wasn't 'with' the mmc combined with the emotional backbone of an eclair, and just many more things, i don't like her😔😔
ABSOLUTELY LIVED FOR THE JONFELICITY CRUMBS LOMLs FR💖💖

RUTH STILLING GIRL. I AM OBSESSED. Zach Evans is the PERFECT BOOK BOYFRIEND you can ask for. He is so swoon worthy. He had me all giddy. I loved Jon Morgan in Boarded Hearts but MAN I think Zach is my new favorite. To be honest, I knew I would love him from Boarded Hearts.
Frozen Over is the second book in the Seattle Scorpions Series following Zach Evans & Luna Johnson. Zach is a defenseman for the Seattle Scorpions Hockey Team. He had a nasty hit last season which he ends up moving to his vacation home in his hometown during the offseason to help focus on getting his mind back to the game he loves. On top of that, he is dealing with a fallout with his ex – girlfriend and ends up him swearing off relationships for good. Until he runs into his high school friend Luna. Luna has always kept to herself. She has love for space and astronomy and will talk your ear off. Zach always enjoyed talking to Luna for hours. Luna has been pining for Zach for years. When she sees he is back in their hometown. She took a chance to see if they can become something.
I can’t stop thinking about them. They will always hold a special place in my heart. The way Zach was always there for Luna and never once pushed her into anything, but he made sure she knew how he felt about her and where they stand. Zach is the BIGGEST CINNAMON ROLL. I just want to hug him and never let go. Luna was supportive of him when he was struggling getting back into hockey and she was going to be there for him no matter what.
You need to add this series to your TBR! You won’t regret it. Thank you Ruth Stilling and Wordsmith Publicity for this eARC!
Very abrupt endings to chapters with time jumps in the next chapter. Big things happen to move their relationship along at the end of a chapter, and then it ends and it’s 2 weeks later. This happens a lot. That might be part of why other reviews mention the pacing feels off.
Some issues with editing that make the book feel unpolished, like characters responding in ways that don’t make sense for the question they were asked, and the British phrases used by American characters with no explanation (I’m not talking about when American characters start using Felicity’s phrases and manner of speaking—that at least makes sense). This was an issue in the first book too.
Also a lot of things that felt over the top to the point of absurdity. His 🐓is 9 inches?? Really?? His jersey sold at an auction for $60,000?? And a pair of Jon’s gloves sold for $30k?? In this economy?
Cute story I guess, but it feels like there are a lot of threads that lead to nowhere (e.g., Luna’s mom; Luke; even Amie’s story). She’s the director of the art program at a school but her artistry almost never comes up (what kind of art does she even do?? Unknown.). Weird 180 with both MCs, with when and how they fall for each other vs. pull back. Way too much going on and not resolved in a satisfying way.
It’s marketed as no third act breakup, but I would call what happens a second act breakup -_-
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Let me preface this by saying that I absolutely loved Boarded Hearts and I loved Jon and Felicity. BUT this book…. Ruth just blew this one completely out of the park. I am 100% obsessed with Zach and Luna 😍 They are one of my favorite book couples ever now 🥹
This book had me in love with Zach from the very beginning. Zach is an NHL superstar who swears off women and relationships after ending things with his crazy, cheating, ex girlfriend. Luna, is a close friend from high school who Zach has kept in touch with on and off, BUT Luna has always been off limits because she used to date Zach’s best buddy. Luna has secretly been pining for Zach for years and she is a girl who is not afraid to go after what she wants and boy do we love her for it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Zach is a little grumpy, a little jaded, and a whole lot of sexy hockey player. Luna is literal sunshine, she’s a little quirky, so sweet and has a heart of gold. The two of them create the perfect high school friends to lovers story 🫶🏻
Oh AND The spice is perfection. The mouth on Zach Evans 👌🏼 helllooooo dirty talking hockey player.
What to expect— She falls first, he falls harder High school friends to lovers Found family No third act break up One bed moment Friends Ex He’s a little grumpy, she’s sunshine ☀️
Releases July 18, and believe me when I say— you need this on your TBR 🤩
Thank you so much Ruth Stilling for the opportunity to read this is an ARC for my honest thoughts and review 🫶🏻
I am obsessed and in love with Zach Evans! He went through so much in Boarded Hearts I was so happy to read his book especially since it is second chance romance with Luna. Luna melts and changes Zach's view in relationships in the most beautiful way. Zach takes care of Luna is so many ways with some many personal and sweet acts.
I loved the theme of the stars/space intertwined throughout this book and seeing Luna's passion and Zach's support. I really enjoyed this book referencing the past with little details without doing full/lengthy flashbacks. Overall, this book is amazing and so well written. I highly recommend this book!
This was okay, Luna was cute and her relationship with Zach was sweet. I just hated how much Aime showed up, like girl get the memo and go away. I’m excited for Kate and Jensen’s book.
Ok what can I say but this book is absolutely STUNNING!
I loved this book from the very first page to the last. There is nothing bad about this book.
The love and the relationship that grows between Zach and Luna is beautiful. Showing both of their struggles as they watch their relationship grow and work out if they can be together in some way.
The difficulty for Zach with his previous injury and his hurt from his previous relationship with Amie.
I love Zachs caring side and Lunas beautiful quirky personality (just you wait until you read her you will be chuckling)
All I can say without spoiling it and telling you all of it! 🤣
Now run and read this right now. It's out in paperback now and Kindle unlimted/kindle on the 18th July.
Thank you @authorruthstilling for giving me this arc copy I am so honoured to be given this and your first book aswell. So looking forward to book 3!!!! 😂😍
This is the second book in the Seattle Scorpions series and I loved it!! This book follows Zach and Luna, who have been friends since high school and have kept in contact ever since Zach went to play in the NHL. After Zach was betrayed and lied to by his ex, he heads home for a few months to clear his head. Running into Luna again brought the two of them back together and rekindled their friendship but also ignited a fire that had always been inside of both of them.
Zach Evans is the tattooed hockey player of my dreams! He started off this book so broken and defeated, not trusting anyone and ended it giving his whole entire heart and soul to Luna. Watching him learn to trust in someone was amazing, and so well written.
Luna Johnson is such a spunky little firecracker and I loved how she sassed Zach. When she realized what she wanted for herself and what she deserved out of life, she went for it and I think that is incredible.
What I loved most about this book was the found family trope weaved throughout it. The relationship between the Scorpions players was so fun to read and you could feel the bond they shared. The ladies in this book were amazing! I love how they welcomed Luna with open arms and fully accepted her as one of their own.
Thank you to Ruth for the *early* ARC and for trusting me with Zach and Luna!!
When I first read about this book in my Instagram feed it said there was no third act break up. I immediately went yay and dived into the book, apparently not learning from my previous mistake of trusting things on Instagram. Silly me. They spent 3/4th of the book deciding whether they want to be together and not in the usual push and pull but heartbreak sort of way. And when they finally get together, and yeah they don't technically "break-up" but still the unnecessary lame as hell plot twist isn't very different. Overall while the premise of the story might have been good, it lacked good execution.
I'm not even kidding, this was pretty bad. they had no chemistry whatsoever, the plot felt so rushed and I lost count of how many times the characters gave me the ick. I can't name even one thing that I remember from this book😭😭😭
