December 31, 2024The H wasn’t celibate during separation and this ruined the book for me (i just can’t stand the fact that he was with many women while the h couldn’t be with anyone but him).

~ Both are virgins but the H did other stuff with other women 🙄 (when i want my MMC to be a virgin, it means i want him to be 💯 a virgin). They lost their virginities to each other.
“Being a twenty-one-year-old virgin wasn’t something I advertised, even though I wasn’t ashamed of it. I didn’t have a problem getting off or finding company if I was lonely. Just because I haven’t fucked anyone doesn’t mean I haven’t done anything. But every time I considered taking it further something stopped me.
Lyla stopped me.”
~ The h and her sister were kidnapped and tortured/sexually assaulted by their kidnappers (off page).
They killed her sister and this shocked her, so she ran away for years and left the H.

~ Separation for 8 years : the H wasn’t celibate and became a manwhore (he was broken after the h left him so he was with many women so he could forget her or fill the void she left 😑) plus everyone keeps telling the h that he’s “a fuckboy” at every opportunity, and the h bless her heart didn’t blame him because she was the one who left him 🙄 (no details given but this really bothered me) / he hasn't touched another woman since the h came back.

This series keeps getting better with every book. Sage and Lyla are my favorite so far. OMG how I fell for them both. Biker, childhood friends to lovers and second chance all in one. It was a fantastic story that really made me feel. I felt their connection, their pain and their love. I couldn’t get enough of Sage and Lyla. I’ve been teased about Sage from the previous two books. He was numbing himself and finally I got his story to why. He had so many layers and he kept surprising me but one thing was certain. When it comes to Lyla he loves fiercely. She is such a strong heroine given what she’s experienced. Her destiny from age 10 is Sage and she never lets go of that truth.
Their story was incredible. The beast and the butterfly claimed my heart.

Sage and Lyla have a place in my heart and I’m addicted to their story. Simmons did an amazing job drawing her readers in and keeping them.

3.5⭐️ i love a motorcycle club romance and this sort of scratched the itch i had, but was definitely still lacking in some ways for me.
i think my main issue was with the fmc. she went thru some hard shit as a young adult and while i can totally empathize with that angle, she still felt pretty emotionally immature to me even after the 8 year time jump.
on the plus side, the romance in this was HOT🥵 and the side characters we met had me super intrigued for their story:)
this was the first book i’ve read from this series, and ill most likely read the next! i love eva simmons but this was not my fav from her. its not a bad book, just didn’t hit the spot like i expected it to- based on her other MC romances i’ve read.

This story had so many twists and turns, and I enjoyed it so much!! Sage and Lyla growing up in this environment was so difficult to navigate when anything bad could just happen, & it did😣
Lyla is so strong for having to deal with Kane and his club, but luckily she had some people to make it better! Every step of the way, Sage was their for her & he was so devoted even with the threat of others finding out. He waited on Lyla and and that really warmed my heart because she needed that love from him after all that happened to her.😤
I really liked the progression of their relationships as well!! If I had a hot biker waiting for me back home, I would definitely come back🙂↔️

I have been shouting about these Twisted Roses series for awhile now. Eva has this really lyrical, lovely way of writing these emotional forbidden love stories.
We met fckboy Sage in the first two books and I was so curious to see who was going to have him falling. Lyla is his younger sisters friend - a brat who liked to test him as a kid and a temptation as an adult. They have such a push/pull relationship til they end up giving in.
I loved all the dynamics at play here. The first 20% is in their past and you see how they end up broken and alone, then the story picks up when Sage has to protect Lyla in the present. Lyla is dealing with a lotttt of crap and they both have to work through the past to find their HEA. It’s very rough and emotional and none of it is easy but I loved their journey. The spice is delicious and I loved the guys teasing him about his feelings before he was willing to admit it 🤭
It’s Eva, so there’s always some twists and turns and it was so much fun. I cannot wait for the 4th book in June! Sooo glad we don’t have to wait. Guys you seriously need to read this series; you know I only yell about the important stuff and I’m yelling now. 🙏

Sage x Lyla had me feel every feel. Seriously, my stomach was in knots half the time but in the best of ways to where I literally couldn’t put this book down. I was in such a reading slump leading up to this one but I literally binged this in one sitting. So THANK you Eva for pulling me out of that.
Second chance will always be a go to trope for me and I love how with any trope that Eva does, she takes her own spin on it and makes it unbelievably unique to her story telling.
I cannot recommend Eva’s books enough. This one is beyond bingeable so if you’re ever needing a book to steal your heart, read Sage x Lyla.

This is the third book in the Twisted Rose series and I couldn’t put it down.
This story follows Sage and Lyla, who have always been drawn to each other since they were kids when he was task with protecting her. As they grew so did their feelings but they couldn’t go there because she is the MC prez’s daughter and he is patching into the twisted kings. And even though they shouldn’t, they give in to their feelings but something happen they changed everything causing Lyla to run. Eight years later, Lyla never thought she would come back, let alone see Sage again. Now they’re living together and he’s her protector again since he owns the club a favor. Sage thinks if he shows her his dark side, she stay away but the truth is he’s not the only one with secrets and scars. You know what they say you can’t run away from fate, it always has a way of catching up with you. But what happens when the cold hard truth comes out, will they survive it or will it destroy them?
Their banter and chemistry from the beginning was very entertaining especially as they tried to hated each other but the moment they give into their attraction they were explosive. They definitely didn’t disappoint in the spice department, that tattoo shop scene🥵. They are both broken in a way that only the other could fix just by being there. These two went through so much and it only proves that they were destined for each other. I just love how possessive Sage was, Lyla was his and nobody was taking her from him again. This book keep me at the edge of my seat there’s a lot of twists that I didn’t see coming. Their character development and journey throughout the book was great but also heartbreaking. Overall, this book has a bit of everything secrets, romance, trauma, spice and so much more. I can’t wait for next book.

I was ready to give up on this series after the first two books and I’m glad I didn’t, because that one was exponentially better.
I finally figured out (thanks to this book) my main issue with those books and it was the lack of joy in the world those characters live in.
Sure, it’s a dark romance series, so nobody expects unicorns puking rainbows, but everything about those books, including their love stories, was just… depressing.
Even though all those Twisted Roses tattoo parlor characters were supposed to be friends, I couldn’t feel any real found family vibes among them, but almost an underlying animosity or more like they didn’t care about each other and were more of reluctant acquaintances than actual friends.
This book hit different. The love story was just the right amount of obsession mixed with hotness and affection; the friendships felt real and there even was a decent amount of banter.
Sure, it was short and sweet, so there could be more character development, but it was still enjoyable.
I could definitely use more of all of that, when comparing to other dark romance books I’ve read, but when comparing only to the previous books in the series - this one is much better.

Sage (resident bad boy) and Lyla ( MC president’s daughter) were destined to be together — her words. It was not an easy road for them and they had to go through quite a lot to get back to each other.
I loved how this book had it all— LOTS of spice, found family, revenge and demons they had to get through together and just overall great story telling.
If you enjoy spice, drama, heavy subject matters and the MC trope then you should definitely check this one out. I can’t wait to read more from this author and I will be checking out Reeds story as soon as possible!!

She didn't want to be with a biker but she was obsessed with Sage and he with her, and when she and her twin get kidnapped because of her father, she runs from that life.

By now I've read a few things from Eva and it's usually a case of hit or miss but so far this series has been my favorite from her for sure 👀
This little family of Twisted Roses has been a crazy roller coaster of emotions but every time I pick one of the books expecting to enjoy it but end up being addicted since the first pages.
Sage was a really good character in the other books of the series but in his own he was a freaking (hot) king 🤧 Lyla wasn't exactly the kind of character that I was expecting but she surprised me in a good way. And these two together. . . all the tension and fight not to me together. . . it got me.
This was once again a good story with great characters and I'm really excited to see what's going on in this series after that finale 👀👀

Cold Hard Truth is the third book in the Twisted Heart Series. Sage and Lyla grew up together in the same motorcycle club “world,” understanding how brutal it can be. Though they were their first loves, Lyla parted ways with Sage due to unfortunate circumstances. He, however, stayed with the motorcycle club life. When Lyla returns, they both find that emotional wounds never healed from the past. And their feelings toward one another never went away either.
I liked how the story established Sage and Lyla’s friendship early on when they were young versus just having the reader have flashbacks. ”Cold Hard Truth” was a bit angsty and emotional like the previous books in the series. I didn’t find it as dark as usual but read relatively dark stories. There are CWs listed on the author’s site.

This was one of my anticipated reads for this year because I’ve fallen in love with this series and Eva never disappoints with the plot and even the morally grey men. I haven’t read many second chance romances but I would definitely consider this one and really loved it, especially because of the darker elements. I will say that this was probably the darkest out of all three books so beware of that and make sure to read the trigger warnings! I was rooting for Sage and Lyla the entire time, they really couldn’t catch a break! The ending though 👀 I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and will be looking forward to when it’s released!

If you like your books on the darker side and with great characters this is a book you want to get your hands on. This is a second chance enemies to lovers MC romance that pulled no punches. Sage and Lyla’s story was so full of ups and downs and heartfelt all at the same time.
I love how this author spins her stories drawing me in and keeps me on the edge of my seat. Be prepared to set some time aside because for me, I couldn’t put this book down. I always look forward to see what she has coming next.

Sage and Lyla’s story is a gripping and enthralling page turner. Lyla is such a survivor. Love the strength and perseverance she showed. And Sage, he had so many layers to him…he could be sweet and vulnerable but he also was violent and vengeful.
I loved how the story gave insight to their relationship from the time they met at the age of ten, up until the tragic event that tore them apart.
As adults, they navigate a difficult chemistry between hate, lust and love. They share what happen eight years prior and it will break your heart.

Dear readers... what a book I just finished reading, you will find characters who will win you over with their story and their personal growth that will leave you speechless. If you like all this you absolutely must read this book, you can't miss it. When I think back to the story between Sage and Lyla, their story has an important place in my heart and soul. With this narration of this story, Simmons did a job that intrigued me from start to finish and in my case I absolutely have to revisit the previous books. Rating 4.5 ⭐

this book game a roller coaster of emotions the way that sage calls lyla butterfly made me weak in the knees. The way i pictured sage was this brooding hero and that will do anything to protect his butterfly. When they first come together it's forbidden and sage is afraid that he can't be with her. then they lose each other and comeback and the intense feelings that were there eight years go still burn in their souls. The yearning and want between them is fire and loved every twist and turn and every spicy moment between them.Sage is my new book boyfriend....

Sage and Lyla have had tragedy change both of their lives, separating them for many years and leaving them broken hearted.
When they’re brought back together in a forced proximity situation it is angsty, tense and full of emotions.
There is danger lurking, there’s a foreboding feeling hanging over them.
The bond they share and the way they know each other is so dreamy. The banter is entertaining and full of repressed emotions and chemistry. The fact that Sage was her protector from a young age and still is makes him so swoon worthy.
Lyla is feisty, fierce and she’s also very caring. Both of them feel strongly for each other, lifestyle and circumstance makes Lyla uncertain they can work as a couple.
It’s really steamy and super romantic. I adore these characters so much.
Towards the end many secrets come to a head in an epic way. Things won’t be the same after some very explosive events.
The story doesn’t end the way I expected, it’s even better! I love that I didn’t see the twist and turns that happen. This is such a fantastic, beautiful story with characters I love, beautiful romance and intriguing characters. I can’t wait for more in this world of interconnected standalone’s.

Miss Eva you’ve done it again!!! You never deliver anything less than the best and this was no exception. Lyla and Sage have been to hell and back and their relationship was delicious to watch unfold. The trials and tribulations they went through had me emotional as shit and the SMUT? Divine. Watching Sage become who he was always meant to be and watching Lyla embrace herself was everything I’d hoped this book would be.

COLD HARD TRUTH by Eva Simmons is book three in the Twisted Roses Series. This is the story of Sage and Lyla. Lyla's father was the president of the Twisted Kings MC and Sage's father was the VP when they where younger. Sage was in his teens when he was task to look after a young Lyla along with the other kids. But when they got a little older their feelings started to grow. But then something happened and Lyla left. Now she is back seeking revenge and this puts her meeting Sage again.

I am really enjoying this series and was super excited for Sage’s book! There has always been so much mystery around him! This is a past/present telling and boy did we need the historyyy!! They both had been through so much!!! I was super excited to get to the present though as I needed to know what was going to happen! So much tension and angst!!! There was never a doubt that these two weren’t absolutely meant to be ♥️
