Second Shot K.O.K: A second chance hockey romance (The Brooklyn Bears: Season 1) Kindle Edition
A sexy, second chance, forbidden love, hockey romance, by USA Today Best-Selling Author, MJ Fields
She chose her family. He chose their dream. Now fate is giving them a second shot…
Five years ago, Nalani pushed me to take an offer from Lincoln University for a full ride, giving me a better shot at playing professional hockey. She promised to make the move with me then bailed at the last minute, breaking her promise and my heart.
Now she’s in my city, in my space, vying for a job in the Bears' organization, and trying to get my attention. But all I’m giving her is my back.
The old saying, “Screw me once, shame on you. Screw me twice, shame on me,” rings in my head, but not as loudly as the memory of how hot we were together.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2024Koa & Nalani are one of my favorite couples! I absolutely loved their story! I’ve been dying to know more of their story and now I do. It’s heartbreaking, it’s beautiful, it’s HOT and it’s fun! There are some great new characters and it’s so good to see the Lincoln Lion crew again…they are so FUN! Great start to this new series MJ! I looking forward to more.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2024Got to say I really like this one. It's been a long time coming waiting to see the kok. And it did not disappoint at all! What can I say this book was larger than life. So it was definitely worth the wait. MJ field has done it again this book is just absolutely amazing.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2024Nalani caught her ex boyfriend and best friend cheating with each other a week before graduation. She decides to leave Maui and go to school in Vermont where she runs into Koa at a bar. He always liked her a lot but she ended up with his friend and he was hurt.
Koa has taken to hockey and is part of the college team. He recognizes Nalani at the bar and they end up together after all this time. Spending all their time together they grow close, fall in love and when he is going to move to a different college she agrees to move too. Things don't go they way they had planned when she goes back home and doesn't return. His heart is broken. He goes on to a career playing professionally for the Bear's organization.
After several years have passed she is determined to see him and try to explain what happened but when he sees her at the airport with a child he thinks the worse and plans to stay away from her.
Nalani is determined to make him hear her out and explain what happened to her.
Will he give her a chance or is it truly over?

I enjoyed the story but it does bounce around a lot so sometimes keeping the story straight is a little hard.
I loved her girl squad and how they all had each other's back.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2024Nalani is one strong amazing woman. Koa is one amazing man. The plot of this story is something else. Could not wait to see where everything was going. Everyone is connected in some way and they have each other’s backs. The ending was absolutely brilliant.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2024Koa and Nalani.... Such a beautiful written story!! These two get a second chance and they touched my heart with all the feels. This author is such an amazing writing, she sucks us readers into her storyland.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2024Funny, quirky and just enough spice. I loved the light hearted banter and the traditional Hawaiian roots planted throughout. Definitely a 5 star read for me!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2024This was a great second chance read that I enjoyed from start to finish. This quick read is a great extension of the Lincoln University world - just progressing the characters.
In the start of this new series we get Koa and Nalani's story. Toward the end of the Taking the Shot series Koa is introduced but not much is revealed other than the end of his relationship with Nalani. Now the whole story comes out and from both points of view.
Koa and Nalani have known each other since they were high school age despite being in different social circles. They had an immediate connection but Nalani became involved with Koa's friend before they found themselves at the same college only with Koa playing hockey instead of football. Nalani breaks her relationship with her boyfriend before leaving for college after finding out he was cheating on her thus leaving her open to a relationship with Koa. Their relationship starts and begins to bloom only to have Nalani not return to college as planned after her first semester and breaking it to Koa via text message. Fast forward 5 years and Koa is playing professional hockey and Nalani seeks him out to make at the very least amends but hopes to fix their relationship. Along the way she mends relationships with her college KET sorority sisters and makes new friends along the way but can she fix her relationship with Koa?
This was a well-written story for this pair as they had an instant connection to each other. My only issue with their story is that Koa after working through some of his issues with the past just instantly forgave her before hearing the entire story and that kind of bugged me. In the present time I felt that their story moved unrealistically fast but was still well written. I enjoyed the return of characters from the Taking the Shot series as they do play a role even if it is a small role in this story. The chemistry between the characters was off the charts and I enjoyed the introduction and reintroduction of the supporting characters making me want to see where this new series will go next.
Overall, this was a well written story that I enjoyed from start to finish and would recommend to others.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2024Second chance hockey romance. These two were meant to be together. However, life isn't easy, and obstacles happen. Unfortunately for Kalani, her mom makes life so difficult, and her life gets turned upside down. Koa was hurt and didn't understand what was happening with her. Only that he lost her. He put up walls in the beginning when she returned. However, once he heard everything, he was there for her. I loved these two as a couple. Sometimes, the dialogue would be a little much for me to follow, but all in all, it was a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second Chance Love
MJ Fields never disappoints, Koa and Nalanis story draws you in from the first chapter. A story of emotion, laughs, heartbreak, and family they choose, also lets not forget their second chance at love.
So looking forward to the next in this series xx

3.0 out of 5 stars okay read
An okay read. Different from previous books I’ve read from this author. Not a fan of college romances and this took a while to get into. Once we hit the adult part of the story I really enjoyed it. Bit of an abrupt ending but overall an okay read.
