This is my first book by this author and while it was a a quick read I think that there could have been so much more. This book is about a couple that has not seen each other in 5 years, but they have known since they were young that they were going to be together even though he gave her space for 5 years. When he comes back into her life he doesn’t waste any time trying to show her that they still belong together. He is a romantic at heart and he is going to do everything that he can to prove to her that it’s always been her and no one else. She said that that when she saw him 5 years ago she had a picked up another guy to fill the void of a broke heart after he left. They broke up and in walks the guy from her past. After he has been home for a week he shows her just want he means to her when he buys her house that she always said was her dream home. Then on Christmas Eve at the stroke of midnight he gives her the best birthday gift of all and asks her to marry him while this was a good quick no thinking read, i all most feel like this could have been a full length story.
My Christmas Wish is a sweet friends to lovers novella. Apollo and Charlotte were childhood best friends who had deep feelings for each other but never acted on it because of their three year age gap. After Apollo leaves for college, Charlotte sees him once, then not again until five years later. This left Charlotte heartbroken and confused about why Apollo would leave without any communication. You could tell that these two clearly loved each other, but I'm a bit conflicted with how quick everyone was to forgive Apollo for ghosting Charlotte for five years. I get it. He had good intentions, but he still broke the poor girls heart. He did end up redeeming himself, and I ended up loving their chance at romance. This was a very short, sweet Christmas love story.
This was a cute, quick christmas read. It was fast-paced, with young love that bloomed with age; there were family interactions, and both main characters were a delight. Apollo may have been a bit older but was a romantic; my heart just swooned whenever he was around. And, Charlotte was just dear; her love of family and Apollo was just what I needed. The storyline moved fast, and you really didn't need much thinking; you just felt the feels, which was exactly what was needed for me in this holiday read. So if you're looking for a quick holiday read, then try this one.
A perfect novella for this holiday season. The story has an age gap romance so at first its a little off putting but nothing happens until they are of age. A great story about two people who grew up together who have feelings for one another but can’t do anything about it. I enjoyed when they got together and his pining for her.
A super sweet and short Christmas feel story that will just leave your heart full. This is the first book I've read from this author, and it was just the sweetest. Two best friends with undeniable love, but when Apollo is asked to wait until she is older to express his love, some things took a different direction. But 5 years later and everything is about to change.
Honestly this was the cutest read I've read in a while!🎄❤️
If you’ve read the Ink Well Chronicles, this is definitely a must read! You’ll catch glimpses of some familiar characters, as well as get some updates as to how their lives have been. This story can be read as a standalone, but I wouldn’t recommend as half the fun is recognizing some of these names. This novella super cute and insanely sweet, so sweet Lottie and Apollo will leave your heart with a cavity. Such a lovely heartwarming book to start off the Christmas season with!
Christmas romance? Second chance romance?? Childhood friends to lovers??? What more could you ask for?
Apollo and Charlotte are 2 characters I adore so much and reading about their journey was one of my favorite story lines I’ve read in a second chance romance! I wholeheartedly recommend this quick read to all romance lovers out there!!
Honestly, it took me a while to really get into this book. I just think it was much more fast-paced than I prefer. But, it was still a cute, quick read. Definitely a good one to get you into the Christmas spirit. That said, I loved the last 20% of it, and loved Charolotte and Apollo's relationship.
This book is the perfect palate cleanser! It's a novella so it's short, simple, and to the point. The story was great and the characters were perfect. The drama to non-drama ratio was great along with the little spice. I'm normally not one for any sort of cheesy Christmas books, but this one was just perfect. 5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I got this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Charlotte and Apollo are childhood best friends and to Apollo, she has always been the one for him. At Charlotte’s parents’ request, he decides to wait for her to turn 18 before confessing his love for her.
Things don’t go as planned and Apollo and Charlotte lose contact for five years. Finally, this Christmas, both of them are back in their hometown once again to celebrate Christmas and Charlotte’s birthday. Can they rekindle their friendship and love for each other?
Apollo’s love for Charlotte came through strongly right from the prologue till the very end. I wished though that we had more opportunities to see how their friendship blossomed as they grew up together.
The ending was a lovely one. Grab this now if you love a quick and spicy read, with lots of Christmas-y scenes.
This book is a perfect holiday novella, a wonderfully cute read that made my heart happy. Apollo has loved his Lottie since she was born, but he promised her parents that he wouldn't date her until she turned eighteen. After surprising her for her sixteenth birthday, Apollo knew that he had to allow Lottie to live a little, so he left their small town and didn't return for five years. But now he's back and determined to make a life with Lottie. Will she forgive him for ghosting her?
I loved this book. I've read the other books in this series and it was a great addition. Ms. Bates writes with such descriptive prose you feel you are right there with the characters, and this beautifully written book is like a hot cocoa on a cold day, warming you from the inside out.
Apollo has loved Charlotte since she was born, and they were inseparable, until he left town breaking her heart. Now 5-years later, Apollo and Lottie are both back home for the Christmas holidays, but will they finally get their wishes? This is a quick, easy to read novella, which has family, friendships, emotions, determination, heartbreak, friends / lovers, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and sweet, small town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This had all those feel-good tropes we romance readers can't resist - childhood friends, first love, (semi) a second chance, and an adorable & festive sweetness to the story.
While it was on the good side of sickly sweet, the mixture of tenses made it much harder to read.
Despite this, it was a joyful and romantic novella, well suited to the season.
My Christmas Wish is the newest release by Jordan Bates and part of her Ink Well Chronicles series. I loved reading and following Apollo and Charlotte's Christmas romance. I found this novella a wonderful book and worth reading. I look forward to enjoying more books by this author in the future.

A quick cute holiday read. Charlotte and Apollo have known they belonged together since they were young. Apollo has been gone for 5 years and now he is back….back to claim what is his. This is a very cute quick holiday read about loving someone so much that you want what is best for them. It’s about Christmas, families and everything in between. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
